This is an update from my original kit in an older video. What's your favorite way to start your campfire?
My fave is a ferro rod with either birch bark or fatwood ....but my go to is ....a Bic ! 😁
Mine is ferrorod and Vaseline cotton balls. Always carry fatwood.
Definitely use a ranger band. Can be used as fire extender also. Maybe a fresnel lens would fit?
love the fact that you have multiple ways.
How I start my campfires is half the fun!
Rubber bands break. Use a ponytail elastic or a piece of inner tube (ranger band). Good information, thank you. 😊
Great tip! I always say I should put something better and never get around to it. Next time I refill it!

That is a good fire kit. Thank you for shareing
Thanks!
I super glue the striker faces inside the lid of my tins. They stay put when you use them. Easy to replace if necessary.
I was considering that, but was concerned about striking a match with the rest of the contents an inch away. Any issues?
@@CampfiresandColdBeers I've never had an issue. But I don't just keep fair stuff in mine. The matches stay on the bottom and are covered by other crap. But I'll bet you could hold a match close to another burning match and find out how close they really need to be to be an issue in the less than a second that the lit match would be there and not lighting your fire.
Great kit
Thanks!
You have equipped yourself very well bro 👌🔥🤘🍻💯
Thanks bud! It's part of the fun for me 😁
Very Canadian. Lol. Canadian Tire flyer. 🇨🇦. Cheers from Ontario 🍻
Haha, the funny thing is they send the flyers as a group of stores together now. I still remove and keep only the Canadian Tire part 😁
Great kit man, nice variety of 🎉 roll as well. One suggestion for ya, flip your match striker or put it under something like the flyer paper. Don't want your matches accidentally being set off in your pocket.
Thanks! I store it on the opposite side away from the matches, kinda forgot while filming this 😅
Great video, bub!
Thanks!
Great kit🔥🔥🔥
Thanks bud!
Nice kit, good video. You could definitely use a ranger band or a chunk of gorilla tape to hold it shut, especially since both burn well themselves. That might depend on whether you use it often or primarily use natural materials and that's more for when you can't find much or need fast fire. Just some thoughts.
Thanks! A few people have mentioned a ranger band, I'll definitely look into picking one up.
I don't use it that often, since I film I like to bring or use something different in the videos, this sort of gets thrown in with my first aid kit and an extra light source as back up.
Thanks for watching!
Great presentation! Thanks for sharing! 😊

@@CampfiresandColdBeers my pleasure 😇
Nice kit. I have about the same except I added a small bayite ferro rod and a HSS striker from Harbor Freight.
Awesome! I couldn't find a small ferro rod (honestly, I didn't look very hard) that micro sparker was a good alternative.
I'll have to browse Harbor Freight next time I visit the US
@@CampfiresandColdBeers I buy the small keychain Bayite rods from Ebay. Three inch by 5/16. I bought 15 for around 15 dollars. Now 3 rods are about that much. But they're good little rods. I use the Harbor Freight HSS stainless steel metal lathe bits. SKU 40641. They're about $5 and you get 5 peices. One round which is useless. Three square which are very good. And one flat which is my favorite. I cut it in half so it makes two. It makes even the cheapest ferro rods throw showers of sparks. I've yet to dull one. It has a sharp edge and lasts almost forever. I keep one in my pocket all the time and a drilled rod on a piece of fire cord around my neck most of the time. I've can't drill a hole in the striker. I guess I'd need a special bit. I'd like to put it on the firecord with the rod.
That lathe bit idea is genius! Just looked it up, I definitely have to pay them a visit. I'm also a mechanic by trade, so any reason to browse some tools!
Putting it in a ziplock bag wouldn’t hurt…Have fun stay safe.
Haha, my first "kit" was actually an old ziplock bag. But absolutely true!
What's that jacket you're wearing?
Funny you ask, I actually talked about it in my next video. Dope Snow, they make snowboarding/skiing apparel.
They also have a hiking/outdoors selection where I get a lot of my outdoor clothes from.
