Lived in Beirut for several years during the late 90’s and early 00’s. I have tried quite a few recipes for sish tawook but this is the one that transported me back. Just like the ones I used to eat in Hamra. Thank you so much. 😋😋
Thank you for all your videos! I e done 2 recipes so far and ... wow! I feel so happy and thankful to you for how it’s come out!! Especially during quarantine. 🙌🏼🙏🏼 thank you!
This is a fantastic recipe!!! It tastes amazing! Thank you so much!
And there is another one I am going to try! I am building up quite a list now of Henry How to dishes ... they look pretty simple to prepare, but with huge reward! 👍
Ho yeah,I love your recipes.
Thanks a million. I made this recipe yesterday and it was just to die for. You're making me supreme princess of the grill in my house. Cheers
This recipe is amazing. Thank you!
Takes me back to 1981as a teenager when I lived in Tahiti Towers, near Rue Hamra and the American university! Fantastic food...
You have shared an AMAZING and relatively easy to do recipe with your viewers Chef Henry. I thank you very much. I am going to give your Lebanese Shish Tawook a try for this July 4th holiday on the grill in my backyard Henry. I think that my guests will find them delightful with some flat bread like a pita or a roti and perhaps a drizzle of tzatziki sauce for some grand finesse. Thanks for sharing. You are a good man indeed Henry! Cheers!
+porkulate they'll love it! That'll go perfectly!! Thankyou for your kind words :) happy 4th July!
Thanks to you as well Henry!

Thanks for the tasty food
AMAZING CHICKEN THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME BEAUTIFUL ✨
Hey. Been trying and loving your recepies. Is there a non dairy alternative to Greek yogurt?
Can it be avoided all together
yummy
Hey budd !! do you have lamb cutlet recipes? Your blog is a great 👌
Yes I do! I have a few on my channel!
Red Sumac is not a common spice in the US. Is there anything that is a good substitute?
Best thing in your cooking is every ingredient is available at home .
Mmm looks so good and juicy...I miss Lebanese Food 😔
Yummy
Hi Henry, what do u mean with a cup please? because i don't want to add to much liquid. can you say roughly how much lemon juice and olive oil please? because a cup can be different for everyone. Thanks
I found sumac , is that same as red sumac or different ?
Could I use Zataar in place of the thyme/oregano spice?
+Big Papi yes definately
please tell replacement of sumac.
God bless Lebanon.
I don't have a a grill or skiers how else can I cook this? I've had is over rice and it wasn't dry it was kinda runny
you can cook it in a pan as well. Its often served with a garlic sauce called toum ( but its not super runny)
what are the onions for?
1 remark about cutting the onion. When you cut the onion on the cutting board. Don't peal it at the same place. When you peal the onion at the same place as you cut it, there will be a high risk of sand/dirt residue of the peal. This will come into the food. So next time peal at another place or properly clean your cutting board, then cut the onion.
This looks delicious. Since I don’t have a grill or skewers, how long would I need to roast this? Should I still cube the chicken, or should I roast the whole boneless chicken breasts. I think a pound would be 2 breasts...
Correct, a pound is roughly 2 breasts. I would still cube it, wooden skewers would also work if you wanted. You’d be looking at roughly 20 minutes cooking time
What is the procedure of the same in a pan? 😊
Plz give an alternative way to cook as I don’t have a grill
doing this tonight will let you know
What's the purpose to marinate opnions with the chicken and didn't use afterwards?
Pardon my ignorance, why did you add onions in the marinade but didn’t put the onions on skewers while grilling?
+Gurjeet Sekhon the onions give the meat flavor especially when they interact with the salt, they would simply burn if you grill them
Gurjeet Sekhon haha
+Henrys HowTos We've always put onions and even capsicum and tomato on the skewers at our Lebanese BBQs, they're supposed to burn.. it gives it a nice charred flavour.. A perfect charred meat and veggies put straight on fresh Leb bread, with toum or babaghanoush or humus or whatever.. taste awesome with the charred onion and tomato. Maybe you can show howto make samek bi tahini (with potato) in your next video. Samek bi tahini with the spiced deepfried eggplant and cauliflower with leb bread. Beautiful.
Can I use pork instead? I have a lot in my freezer 😊. Maybe at end of video show how you would serve your entree. Does this go in a tortilla? Pita? With white rice, or yellow? If in a pita do you put basil or lettuce. What is the Traditional method of serving. I like your BBQ recipes, I have made a few of yours already. Very delicious indeed!! But I need some hints on what to serve them with. Thank you very much 😊
+gigharbourite i think it would work, generally with pork I prefer to make a sweet marinade rather than lemony. This can be served in pita, next to rice, even on its own is just as good :)
Henrys HowTos can you recommend one of your Sweet recipes for my pork this weekend I will try to make on Tuesday 😉
gigharbourite personally, the Chinese char siu is my favourite :)
I wish I had a grill now.
This the authentic shish tawoouk
I am allergic to diary, can you recommend a substitution for yogurt?
non dairy yoghurt lol
can i add cashew nut paste to this?
U should add subtitles for recipe
👌👌👌
Hentry please share recepie below comments as we are not able understand and catch the pronounsation, if you add name in video that will be better for viewers
Brother what is red sumac plz tell me,i am From Bangladesh thx.
it is a spice with a sour taste
Doesn't adding a cup of lemon juice as well as yoghurt make the chicken excessively sour?
it seems lemon and yoghurt with chicken is always a perfect combination. But if you did the same with red meat, it would make it sour, yes youre right
No tomato paste, cinnamon or white vinegar?
Serve onions with sumak next to it.
When you say one cup, is that mean 250 mls or what? Thanks a lot
Mohammed Elsaraj yeah i am a bit surprised with the amount of lemon juice myself
He's cute.
Replacement of sumac ? Its not available in pakiatan...:/
Don't have a local Mediterranean or Alladin market?
Please tell me how do I make a small amount of the marinade ? Lets say half please reply. Thank you!
Simply half all the ingredients
In india it is called chicken tikka
I swear, your tablespoons are double the size of mine
I love your channel- You've taught me so many things that my tastebuds are grateful for. If there's anyway i can support you other than liking videos or subscribing to your channel let me know :)
Tomato paste is missing dude......
lemon on meat, weird
Hats weird about it? They have Lemon Peppered chicken
nice video but where is the tomato paste?
dead
Iit literally says tavuk. Means chicken in turkish written in an arabic pronounciation. Why would lebanese call it a turkish name.
Because he is armenian i have been in lebanon beirut and went a armenian restaurant there was big hate even on the street walls ,most of their food iş turkish but they never accept it you will not believe even ayran they are trying introduce as it belongs them sonra shame!
