    Lived in Beirut for several years during the late 90’s and early 00’s. I have tried quite a few recipes for sish tawook but this is the one that transported me back. Just like the ones I used to eat in Hamra. Thank you so much. 😋😋

    You have shared an AMAZING and relatively easy to do recipe with your viewers Chef Henry. I thank you very much. I am going to give your Lebanese Shish Tawook a try for this July 4th holiday on the grill in my backyard Henry. I think that my guests will find them delightful with some flat bread like a pita or a roti and perhaps a drizzle of tzatziki sauce for some grand finesse. Thanks for sharing. You are a good man indeed Henry! Cheers!

      you can cook it in a pan as well. Its often served with a garlic sauce called toum ( but its not super runny)

    what are the onions for?

  • @Masseh6262
    @Masseh6262 2 роки тому

    1 remark about cutting the onion. When you cut the onion on the cutting board. Don't peal it at the same place. When you peal the onion at the same place as you cut it, there will be a high risk of sand/dirt residue of the peal. This will come into the food. So next time peal at another place or properly clean your cutting board, then cut the onion.

    This looks delicious. Since I don’t have a grill or skewers, how long would I need to roast this? Should I still cube the chicken, or should I roast the whole boneless chicken breasts. I think a pound would be 2 breasts...

    • @HenrysHowTos
      @HenrysHowTos  6 років тому +1

      Correct, a pound is roughly 2 breasts. I would still cube it, wooden skewers would also work if you wanted. You’d be looking at roughly 20 minutes cooking time

    What's the purpose to marinate opnions with the chicken and didn't use afterwards?

  • @gurjeetsekhon8747
    @gurjeetsekhon8747 6 років тому +6

    Pardon my ignorance, why did you add onions in the marinade but didn’t put the onions on skewers while grilling?

    • @HenrysHowTos
      @HenrysHowTos  6 років тому +4

      +Gurjeet Sekhon the onions give the meat flavor especially when they interact with the salt, they would simply burn if you grill them

      +Henrys HowTos We've always put onions and even capsicum and tomato on the skewers at our Lebanese BBQs, they're supposed to burn.. it gives it a nice charred flavour.. A perfect charred meat and veggies put straight on fresh Leb bread, with toum or babaghanoush or humus or whatever.. taste awesome with the charred onion and tomato. Maybe you can show howto make samek bi tahini (with potato) in your next video. Samek bi tahini with the spiced deepfried eggplant and cauliflower with leb bread. Beautiful.

    Can I use pork instead? I have a lot in my freezer 😊. Maybe at end of video show how you would serve your entree. Does this go in a tortilla? Pita? With white rice, or yellow? If in a pita do you put basil or lettuce. What is the Traditional method of serving. I like your BBQ recipes, I have made a few of yours already. Very delicious indeed!! But I need some hints on what to serve them with. Thank you very much 😊

    • @HenrysHowTos
      @HenrysHowTos  7 років тому +2

      +gigharbourite i think it would work, generally with pork I prefer to make a sweet marinade rather than lemony. This can be served in pita, next to rice, even on its own is just as good :)

    • @HenrysHowTos

      it seems lemon and yoghurt with chicken is always a perfect combination. But if you did the same with red meat, it would make it sour, yes youre right
