I did not. It was stressful and crowded that I didn't feel safe at that rate. And by the way Sun Nong Dan, the Korean restaurant you visited there, was the best. My father plumbed for that place in LA (Western Ave. Location). I'm glad you enjoyed it! To think that you ate food nearby the con with such food truck and other places, some are God-awful, some are passable. It was expensive, not worth lining up whatsoever.
Wow.. so expensive and the food almost being subpar all over as well. I guess ChefPK just need to open a foodstall next Anime Expo. ;) If Food Wars can do it, so can you! Make a $10 meal that's easy and cheap to make but will blow peoples taste buds.
Something that’ll actually fill a person up too, not a single meal they were selling would fill me up after running around an entire convention all day in the heat. I’d probably go outside the con to eat but ChefPK could change that.
Loved your mini stop at the Trash Taste banner haha. I could totally see you doing an anime cooking class with them or hosting an anime cooking comp with them!
I‘m kinda shocked… I know how expensive food at an anime convention can be but that‘s just crazy. I‘ll be at Japan Expo in Paris this weekend and I‘ll definitely compare the prices
Yea, everything gets jacked up at those conventions, and it sucks. Went to California for a trip and it was expensive. One restaurant at a hole in the wall place was decent and cost me like $12, maybe $20 at most (This being at least 12 to 14yrs ago mind you). Another place I went to was expensive as heck. The food cost me near $35 to $40 w/o tip, so add on another $12 to $15 on top of that $35 to $40. At this point, you couldn't convince me to go to any of these conventions. You couldn't even pay me with the amount of hassle it takes to deal with air travel, getting hotels, covid, etc....
The receipt for all the food you bought was insane. Going outside the convention centers for any con is the way to go, both for price and quality. Vendors can jack up the prices a lot by having stuff on site, all because it's most convenient during the convention.
As a poor person who loves food of all kinds and almost became a chef, I can confidently say never buy food at any event you go to, you will just end up overpaying and disappointed for mid too low quality food.
It’s so incredible seeing the footage from this year’s AX. Didn’t go this year due to school, but I hope I’ll be able to go next year. And yeah, I definitely recommend getting the food from the food trucks outside the convention.
I can’t believe how expensive everything was for really mid food. I guess they can upcharge that much cause everyone’s trapped there and wouldn’t wanna leave to get food but omg. 22 for boba?? I’d pay $50-100 for a full meal for myself! If I was a truck, I’d bring down my cost and get more customers that way. Why pay $20 for bad noodles when you can pay $10 for good… idk maybe I’d make dumplings. And then all the customers would come to my truck just cause it’s cheaper
This was actually a pretty fun and refreshing coverage of AX! Never got around to trying the food at AX and was hoping you'd end of the video with one of the hot dogs from outside the con center haha Love this style of vlog and review!
This was a cool tour. Friend of mine was also recently at Anime Expo. I noticed with convention foods, it's usually overpriced for convenience and not always the best. Even when I went to PAX, I made sure to grab things AWAY from convention center.
Thanks for sharing and spending all that money on the food! Can't believe everything is way overpriced! Also, super crowded... I remember when Anime Expo was in Long Beach and Anaheim, crowds were much more manageable than LA... lol
I spent $12 or $16 on 6 Takoyaki at the very last food truck, next to the Hatsune Miku water stand, and I would rate those a 9/10 on taste alone, but with price and wait time included I would bring it down to a 7/10
I wish I could have made it out to AX this year. I really wanted to see Chef and get to know the community but I had previous engagements on 4th of July Weekend and just couldn't find the time. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out next year. I'd love to meet Chef in person as well as just hang out eating a bunch of food with you all!
Would love to see you have a stall one year and go Yukihira on their asses. Produce a couple of the Food Wars more portable dishes, cosplay as Yukihira, make things more affordable, win the day and finish on the taking off of the headband with catch phrase
Thanks for your review video! I liked the boba too 9/10. I wished I knew about the Beer Garden, the whole AX event was ridiculously packed and you really couldn’t enjoy navigating throughout the whole convention.
I felt super lucky to meet you on Day 2! I don't play League so I didn't know your cosplay, but you drew yourself in an apron on my shiki board and I laughed when I saw it appear here. You had a really good stream of fans and I honestly felt bad the autograph was free. I'm not from LA and I only had time to try the bulgogi/onigiri and the boba, which I thought was pretty decent. But I do agree it's probably smarter to eat outside for the value. (but the convenience of not passing security again!)
Oh hey that's me at the flaming korean food clip! The real trick is to buy your own food outside of Anime Expo and eat it there. Saves money to buy waifu merch and you're not spending $15 for some sad chicken strips. See you next year ChefPK! LA has a TON of cuisine to try out!
Damn, you should have gone to The Parks Finest. Filipino style BBQ just on the edge of Koreatown. Probably 15-20 minutes from the convention center. I worked in the area near the LACC years ago and that area has changed a lot. Down 12th St. near Hill there's some small restaurants and stuff. Of course there's Little Tokyo but that's a bus ride or a rideshare away.
i wish i could go to a big anime expo, from where i am, the best is in a medium sized mall coming next month here. being able to go to a really big convention like this in the video would be a dream!
I didn't realize you were there until it was too late. next time :D I had the red bean form amami-ya and can confirm those were good. I thought it was a good choice for the only thing I ate in the con lol
Honestly... My Favourite con experience ( & to be fair those were rare at the time in Poland) Well there was some controversy making the con switch venues leading to me spending like an hour in line & not making it inside. HOWEVER I hit it off with a bunch of ppl in the line. We decided to check out a shop that sold anime Sword Replicas... But 1st we had pizza at a local place. So... yeah dont eat at the con. Meet other fans of stuff you love & go in a group to a local restaurant. 10/10 memory despite the fact I couldnt even enter the con
aww I'm glad you bought food for the people around you and that one guy bought you food since you only wanted one. Side note exhibitor here I drank protein caffeine shakes.
saw this title on my algorithm , and gave it me flashbacks of the food. I was there and all i remember when it comes to food was a army of mexican hot dog vendors.

I would love to see that and even participate 😁 and/or judge😜.
you should also make some of those food wars and anime foods you have developed on your channel and sell your cook books and merch like this would be an amazing opportunity!
I would go to AX just to have ChefPK's food truck food. Then try my best to shoot the breeze with the legend and wish him the best. Great video brother, keep up the amazing work.
No cuz me and my brother went and we spent like $60 the Miku themed food truck and then since the line was so long we had to hurry to pay that we had no choice but to tip and the cheapest tip was $8. Should of just brought a sandwich from home😭😭
man. so expensive. lolol we have those small waffle bites with fillings here in the philippines. you can buy 3 pieces for about 20cents. and boba drink is $1 to $3. and those large chicken nuggets for about $1 and cotton candy that big for 50 cents and the 6 piece wonton for about $1.50 to $2 and corndog that big for about $ 1.50 and that noodle thing with chicken, prolly around 50 to 75 cents and that icecream in a code, that's not even 50 cents at SM mall sundae stands. and that ice cream on a cup, prolly around $2 at DQ and the watermelon drink, prolly around $1 and the burrito is around $2 here. and bulgogis.. around $3-4 depending on how big the meal. Man, food there are expensive. lol

ChefPK would steal the place if he made his food there. And I bet with some decent prices,
CHefPK Shoukugeki truck.
Why have AnimeCons not thought of this?! Foodwar booth section where the stalls actually compete to one up each other.

100% in for that
