Fixing EVERYTHING on my Mk5 golf TDi! Common Faults!

This week i needed to get my daily driver Mk5 gold tdi, so it was a good excuse to get everything id been putting off done at the same time too!

Good on ya, it's always great to see someone sticking with a trusty piece of kit and not just throw it away.
The car does look tidy doesn't it, I have a 09' golf variant, 1.9tdi as well so pretty solid engine and only on 110k currently.
I'll be keeping with her for the foreseeable too.
There's a little list building as it is but like you I'll get the tools out and get involved.

My daily's dashboard thinks it's Christmas, which is fitting because my MOT is due in the first week of January so I'll take the Christmas decorations down at the same 😂

Hi ron have you had any experience with the retro fitted android touchscreen modules for the mk5? Have been thinking about fitting one to mine however i have seen quite a few things about battery drain issues

I have read about exactly this happening in the mk5s, but I haven't had any experience myself so cant help unfortunately.

Hi mate have you come across reverse lights not woeking then headlights running while relay switch being off and then engine not starting ?
Ive got a vw touean 1.6 petrol 2008
Tried relay headlight position switch no difference fuses seems ok

I had an '05 Golf Plus TDI. Great car, but labour costs fixing electrical gremlins was the end of it. Too many little solenoids/relays/pumps etc failing. Actual cost of replacement part was minimal, but labour costs ran into the 100's 🙁

Hey Ron if you could give me some advice, I’ve just got a mk5 1.6 (5dr) and the central locking doesn’t work on any of my doors apart from the boot, nor do any of the windows work, even with the key. Do you think it might be possible that the window motors have gone or maybe the wires between the doors, I’ve just got the car and just want to sort this electrical issue out. Any advice would much be appreciated thanks for the videos 👍

It's possible all 4 door looms have broken, could have been 1 by 1 over a few years. Only what to know for sure is to investigate. Thanks for watching

Why does radiator fan still comes in,every time I start the car.i put an whole new water mouth,with thermostat,it also have a new sensor,but stills come in.

Could be to do with the air conditioning? Get it code scanned by vcds if possible

Mine has 260000km has no roof liner I just painted it black 😅 it makes ticking noise drips oil I ran it on paint thinner I thought I wouldn’t end up well but it still driving good can’t kill it
