- Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Penn DOT in Coudersport, PA for a reported commercial structure fire. Tanker 48-5 responds as the first in engine and extinguishes the blaze.
Nice video except the location of Power Director emblem
he probably cant control that sadly, likely a free editor that watermarks stuff. HBF if youre reading this, try davinci resolve, its free with no watermarks.
Thanks ill give it a shot!@@OnionRingsGaming
Driver-let the other guy up front pay attention to the radio. This is just as bad as being distracted using a cellphone.
Correct!
And put your damn seat belt on!!!!!!
Great work by firefighter. He was masked up so it made sense for the DPOP to handle the single radio transmission for their 6-block response. DPOP shouldn’t need to ask which discharge handle corresponds to a given cross-lay (as I firefighter, this question would’ve given me pause to how much trust I have in the DPOP). Chief instructions to wait because of fuels was ridiculous. Water on fire cool fire and prevents more fire. This fireman obviously knows his job. Good video.
He shouldn't be masked up in the truck. He also pulled the wrong line.
@@ffjsb Why was it the wrong line?
@@chazman4461 A commercial structure calls for a 2 1/2" line. More water, longer reach. Especially since he was told there were acetylene tanks in there.
As a veteran firefighter for 37 years, and a company leader, I see several things wrong. First as already stated, he was told by what appeared to be a Chief not to go in due to the dangers of the acetylene tanks which not only puts him, but also his crew in danger. Second, it looks as though he is in a Tanker/Engine, which should have at least 2500 gallons aboard, so in these types of fires, big fire equals big lines so why pull a 1 3/4 handline. These are just my observations; they may have different protocols.
Yea. I was with a small volunteer department and for a while our first out/best unit was a pumper/tanker. On a fire like this our standard approach would have been at least TWO (2) 1 1/2 (1 3/4 with 1 1/2 fittings) handlines attacking the fire from OUTSIDE the building, until we knew there was little danger or explosions. Once those pressurized bottles were located and cooled THEN we would make entry, maybe. This fire quite probably could have been extinguished with an exterior attack alone.
It’s best to not comment if you don’t know what you are talking about. This was actually just a very small fire, just a culvert pipe they were cutting and it had tar inside of it that caught.
@@zackp__13 Small fire, large fire does not matter. You treat them all the same. Disobeying the orders of a command officers is still NOT TO BE PREMITTED, EVER! This guy was reckless. Even if this was a small fire you still take DUE CAUTION for all of the explosion hazard present and approach it like it is ready to explode because you just don't fully know what us going on inside of that fire. Pull you lines, get some cooling going on, the enter CAUTIOUSLY. This is an industrial site and you don't know what all is in there that can go BOOM! Better to let a little more material get blackened than have to go to a fire fighters funeral.
@@Jason-7212 that’s one of the foolish comments I’ve ever read, no fire is ever handled the same as another. Yes you may use some of the same tactics and etc. but it’s never the same just to many variables. However you are correct about disobeying an officer. But if you watch the video I wouldn’t say he completely disobeyed him. He went in maybe 5 to 8 ft. And cooled it as he was told and then proceeded in.
@@zackp__13 Disobeying an order from command on a safety issue like this by a foot or 10 foot is the same. AND You still DO NOT ENTER a potential explosive environment AT ALL until you have minimized the risk of explosions. Your argument does not hold water. Small fire, large fire. the basic tactics are the same. Cool possible explosion hazards, protect other exposures, contain fire, then extinguish. Enter into a burning structure don't happen until you have two (2) lines on the ground, and four (4) fire fighters available. MINIMUM! No entry is made until there is a safety line ready! This guy broke ALL the rules, Plus orders from Command.
Dude recording got a smart ass mouth for not listening, i would definitely be having words with him
Excellent work! I never take time to comment, but due to the ignorance of others I just wanted to say the nozzle-man made sound decisions, appropriate hose choice, a great nozzle work. Don’t listen to the fools who don’t know how to be aggressive ff’s or how to choose appropriate size hose for the desired gpm vs btu. My hats off to ya. Great stop!
WRONG. It's clear you're not a firefighter.
Get that engineer off that dam radio!! Are you a new officer?! That’s your job! I’m weird with that shit.
Damn
He probably is not an officer. Just a firefighter riding the seat due to lack of personel.
Decent. Officer and engineer don’t know the pre connect layout?
Fast water is correct, but in my opinion, a little too risky knowing the materials in the building.
Didn’t hear about a water supply (2nd due?) so they’re 2500 gallons (I think it was a tanker/engine) might give them a false sense of security.
But! they got results.
It’s called trusting the guys coming off the rig, nothing to do with a false sense of security.
The driver has facial driver, not wearing a seatbelt, is talking on the radio instead of the officer seat rider, operating at an unsafe speed and the gentleman in the grey cut off needs pump operation instruction.
less than 4 minutes from leaving the fire house, driving responsibly, and getting water on the fire! WOW!!!
What part of the driver being distracted from the road by asking for orders are you considering driving responsibly? It isnt... it's distracted driving and puts the entire crew in jeopardy... the officer in the front seat works the radios and sirens ... asks for orders and issues orders to his crew... the drivers sole job till he hits the scene and hits the air brake is eyes on the road and hands on the wheel
@@kartracer5g229 Not to mention he didn't have his seat belt on.
Completely reckless, lawlessnes, bypassing protocols, disobeying direct orders, operating a hand line on an internal attack alone, in a completly haphazardous way and not making any functional progress... No, it was terrible all around. Every one of them would be off my department by days end, full stop.
Good video. But you gotta get your Power Director logo moved or make it small. It really takes away from the video.
Thanks for the tip I appreciate that
Great knock down, ventilation? Open up sky lights for ventilation!
Nice response and fast attack. BUT! He made entry for extinguishment AFTER being expressly being told NOT TO due to the presence of Acetylene bottles. He disobeyed an order from command. That is a MAJOR violation. It is a MAJOR safety issue also. He GOT LUCKY. This fire fighter should be severely disciplined for this. It is hot headed, unthinking, ego driven mistakes like this that get people injured and killed. It's great to be the best. It's great when volunteer departments outperform the paid departments. They just can't do it by making mistakes that will eventually cost people their lives. The only way to prevent that is to step down HARD on people when they do break the rules. When they do violate the safety rules.
It’s all about him… finest listen to command, MY line, and they dine know which line they’re pulling? So many wrongs here.
Command said “stay out of here until you cool it down” he did his job he put water on it and cooled it down. He was being aggressive and saved the building. Your comment makes you sound like the guy who does the bare minimum on a fire and post on Facebook later about being a fireman. We (obviously not you and then some) signed up for this job to protect LIFE and PROPERTY. Safety is ruining the fire service. We do this job FOR THEM and not ourselves. We are all just a number but when you leave a department just know that NOBODY remembers a safe fireman. Be aggressive, change the culture, and lord have mercy vent then damn roof.
@@C-money-11 There is a difference between 'Being aggressive' and 'Being Stupid'. What is Rule#1 you are taught at fire school? Don't become a casualty. Rule# 2, Obey Command. His officers ORDERED him to stay out. I have found multiple fires with propane, butane, acetylene, oxygen,, and LPG bottles involved. In EVERYONE the first rule is ALWAYS cool before approach. Yes, there are times that you have to for rescue purposes, but NO building is worth the life of a fire fighter. You can be aggressive in the attack WITHOUT entry or approaching too close to a pressurized cylinder with flame impingement. It's called fighting SMARTER. Racing in to "Put Wet Stuff on the Red Stuff' is a recipe to get people hurt. Times change. Hazards have changed. Tactics have changed.
@@C-money-11you’re def a volley
If you actually pay attention and watch the video he only went in about 5 to 8 ft and cooled it down exactly like he was told, so not sure exactly what you’re talking about?
I dont have that kind of guts. I'd stay out and send as much water in as possible. Maybe even with the deck gun.
I dont think he should have gone inside after hearing there were tanks of acetylene.
So you like to just save the foundation?
Cowboy!..disobeyed a direct order from command and it looks industrial. Have to secure power before making entry..Lucky dog
He said not to go inside until you cool it down and what does he do- go inside
Cause the guy knows what he’s doing. The chief needs to let the men work
@@spanky8220 You have no idea what its like on a fireground obviously.
@@spanky8220 but he told him there was a certain chemical inside. Some chemicals are worse than others.
He only pushed in 5 to 8 ft. and cooled it down before going further, I think he’ll be alright
This FF is a legend in his own mind. Ignores orders and proper safety. He needs to be let go before he gets him or someone else killed. Pretty sure you need to buy the software to get rid of stupid logo on your vid too but based on the level of brains displayed in the video it’s not surprising.
What do I know, I’m just a Chief!
Why is the driver talking and using the radio? Should be the person sitting in the officers seat.
That was my first thought too. He isn't paying full attention to the road in that case
different department different way of running the engine. Not wrong just different.
@davidlenzi3551 I took a Defensive Driving Course specifically for driving fire apparatus and the driver should be paying attention to the road, not using the radio. If he hits someone and they prove he wasn't alone, had a front seat passenger, he will be at fault. Don't care, drivers job is to get the crew there safely, period
my thoughts exactly. The driver should be paying attention to the road. The person in the captain's seat should be in charge of the Engine. Plus no one has a single-seat belt on.
All you expert drivers should just stfu.
Stay out here till it’s cooled down
Line man, Nah,
Nothing like keeping the ad up the whole time. What a waste of time!!!!!!
Why do you have that image/sign of power director so big and in the way of the picture?? Make it smaller and lower
Why do they always use a water blast on the fire? I would think a fan would get better coverage. If the fire isn't incased in something, then a blast would just spread it.
Water CANNOT spread fire... It's clear you're not a firefighter.
Oic masked up in rig how ridiculous
Why is the apparatus operator on the radio? He should have both hands on the steering wheel. The captain ought to be the one on the radio. This makes no sense, and is hazardous.
stopped watching because of the Power Director
wow great Listing Skills The Chief Said Stay Out Side That Doses Not Look Like Out Side To Me If I Was Department Chief That Would be A Write Up For Disobeying A Direct Order From Command
Are you seriously wearing your scba mask in the officers seat while you are responding? Wow.
Why not come off the rig ready to work? There were other officers there that have already done 360’s and gave orders.
And he’s on the pipe. If your taking that right front seat, your job changes, your no longer on the pipe, just things that don’t fly around where we are.
He’s riding the officer seat but he’s also the pipe man. Pipe man masks up for known fires. It’s how aggressive and competent firefighters operate. Dude did great. Couldersport is obviously not his only rodeo.
@@mackflickerson6722 what? Get the hell out the officer seat if you wana play on the pipe. Drop your red helmet and get your black one. The officers job is NOT to put the fire out.
@@cjritchie9701 it’s a two man engine company.
All the nonsense is explainable. He wasn’t on the radio because he was masked up on the way. Still dumb in my opinion. The Chief said to cool it down before going in. He didn’t say how long. He hit it hard from the exterior for 10 sec or so and went in. This guy needs to control his breathing. Goodness man. Your cylinder was iced over probably.
You guys did a great job!! You will always have critics!!
