How did anime look 10 times better 20-30 years ago?
There are still anime made that look like this. It's also a difference between movies and shows. Anime movies tend to look better because they have more time and money to produce while shows less money and a smaller schedule. Besides it's also a matter of drawing style. Every anime has a certain style. The ones in this video is one of those who try to look realistic others don't want to and that's fine.

Don't let the first ten or so episodes fool you. The series afterwards unfolds its qualities with the lovely characters and their social development. The humans and not the mechas are the focus of the story.
The OVA (Early Days) offers some additional sidestories and an alternative beginning of the story.
The movies (1, 2 and 3) are completely different though. Unlike the series the tone is extremely serious, philosophical, cold and not as lighthearted as the series. The Patlabor movies are at best to be compared with the Ghost in the Shell movies, since they are also directed by Mamoru Oshii.
Ah I see! I've seen a few of this kind of anime like that, takes a while to build up! Is there much action in it? In terms of dealing with crimes and handling extreme situations like Section 9 does in Ghost in the Shell? It's fine if not, I'll still watch it when I have the time.
Are the movies and series produced by different companies? The Ghost in the Shell series were made by a different company and like you mention, there is also a difference in the lightheartedness and tone. I noticed in this clip though, that the art or drawing style is just like in the Ghost in the shell movie and for a moment I was actually thinking "Are these deleted scenes from Ghost in the Shell!?" haha!. Ah I see, Mamoru Oshii is the director! It must be a great movie then. Thanks for all the info, I might try to get it on blu-ray.

I wouldn't say that the series lays its focus on action and mecha fights. Many episodes are about SV2 handling random labor crime, funny encounters and personal problems. There is a main story arc about fighting the 'Schaft' prototype mecha, but it's not what the whole thing is about.
And yep, series and movies were made by different studios, although Oshii always seemed to be involved in some way or another.
The movies are visually and content-related similar to Ghost in the Shell or Jin-Roh. You'll see.
Before buying anything you can watch everything for free on Kissanime first. Quality and buffer speed are excellent.

Its pretty weird that both King of my Castle and this song are actually remixes but were never adressed as such.

The actual movie (Patlabor 2) is a pretty deep movie, considering how light-hearted the original Patlabor TV show was. I particularly liked how it portrayed the miliatry-industrial-complex and the hypocrisy of modern western states (even if the movie only takes place in Japan). If you haven't watched the movie, you definitely should.

sorry to be this guy but they are actually a never manufactured testbed model called the F-15 STOL/MTD or that is the base given the non-circular engine exhaust and canards.
@@irongiant6112 The base of the original model comes from the F-15 Strike Eagle, mounts the wings and tail planes of the original model, together with the mounting of the engines in the fuselage together with the engagement of the wings with the fuselage, in addition to mounting double drift of tail, the original engines are the Pratt & Whitney F-100
The same design of the cockades and the numbers are similar to those used by the Japanese Air Force

I remember, around this time (~1998, or 1999 by far) there was another more-upbeat dance track ((very melodic) instrumental, no vocals afaik) with a music video that has had VERY SIMILAR "Ghost In The Shell"-ish theme like this one but I never saw who was the artist or what was the song name--

NeoGeoMurikov Thanks for getting back to me. No, that song I'm talking about has nothing to do with King Of My Castle. Like I said, it had much faster tempo (BPM). I now recall that the video wasn't completely in the aforementioned animated theme, at the beginning of the video there was a live action (real World) footage of (possibly a man/DJ) coming into a somewhat dark room and he's putting a vinyl record onto a turntable and playing it, at the end of the video you can briefly see the same turntable with the record still playing as the song fades away to the end. Hope this helps a bit.

Hey, I want to be certain if this is taken from the album "Program Yourself". Is it? If so, what is the mix called? If not, what is it then?Love it.
This particular mix is the "You're The Reason (Roy Malone Liquid Mix - Radio Edit)" from the "You're The Reason EP" from 1999. The version from "Program Yourself", though it is the original, is distinctively different. I will correct this fact in the video description.
Interestingly it was the same with "King of my Castle". Only the Roy Malone mix got really popular rather than the original by Wamdue Project.

Though, thats my opinion. As for King Of My Castle (Roy Malone's Mix), that mix never allured me. I'm not able to comprehend why its more popular compared to the original, from "Program Yourself". I don't hate the Roy Malone mix. I just don't understand why its popular.
