How to Remove or disable Windows 11 Home Copilot application without group policy editor
This an up to date version: • Disable Microsoft COPI...
Open the Windows registry editor (regedit)
and create two key key and values
Create this key for the current logged in USER
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot
Then Create a new Dword32bit value and call it TurnOffWindowsCopilot
Then double click it and give it a value of 1 (setting to 0 or zero will enable Copilot)
Create this key for the Local Machine (covers all users)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot
Then create a new Dword32bit value and call it TurnOffWindowsCopilot
Again you can double click it, and give it a value of 1 to turn Copilot off or set to 0 to let it run.
Alternatively if you want to use the Group Policy Editor as in this video

I wonder even if you do this is the AI still running in the background and is it still collecting your data ? I'd like a way to completely remove it from my system . Hopefully Tronscript gets updated and can completely remove it. I want AI copilot gone from the OS. I feel as if i have no privacy with copilot. Imagine if you are writing a book, making art, or writing ideas in notes ... Copilot could just use its AI to steal your ideas and give them to AI users via another data set like LIAON-5B . I don't want AI on my machine . Thank you for the video but does this actually get rid of it ? I want it gone !
the AI won't be running in the background, and isn't on your PC anyway, the AI is basically an internet server, the app here is just a method of accessing that data
@@mikesunboxing Oh wow ! I had no idea it wasn't actually on my PC . It's on a server you say ..... that's insane. Well As long as it can't access my PC. Oh.... so the app is what people refer to when they say they still have remnants of it on their pc . So basically some of the apps files remain i guess but following your video SHOULD stop it from collecting data . Man.... AI is really invasive.

I'm still trying to find out how to uninstall it. Microsoft snuck this on to my computer disguised as a regular, normal update without my permission. I do not want AI on my computer. I do not want to _disable_ it or "turn it off" and leave blatant spyware on my system....
My registry editor doesn't have Copilot in those locations. I cannot use the search/find feature to find it either.
Ok I created the key and changed the value. But Copilot is still on my start bar. Maybe I'll reset.

try right clicking on the taskbar and choose taskbar settings look in taskbar items there should be a toggle to remove the icon
@@mikesunboxing I’m trying to remove the copilot icon from my search bar and windows 11 I wanted to go back to the daily highlights where it had the pictures that changed each day. In your video in your search bar I noticed that yours does not have the copilot icon, but it does have the picture of the day.

Followed exactly on the admin account, copilot still shows up on child’s user account
it will need doing on every account, there isn't a global setting as yet

Just to point out what I think is a reasonable question: I don't want to "disable" it and I don't want it taken off my taskbar. I want it off my computer. Microsoft did not ask me if I wanted AI on my computer - It snuck it on, disguised as a normal update, without permission.

I want this to have the files completely removed off of my computer as I suffer from a mental illness and this is causing me a high amount of distress. I am scared to turn on my computer. I do not want an artificial intelligence on my computer regardless if it's disabled or not, the files are there and I do not want them there. I have a lot of anxietyand I can't even enjoy my video games anymore since it was recently installed on my computer.
better get a mac or linux computer, Windows AI is here to stay i am sorry to say
