Reasonable question: Everyone is showing how to _disable_ this. _How about actually removing it?_ I never heard of this until I allowed my computer to update today. It did not ask me if I wanted AI, it just put it into my system uninvited. In my view, my computer is my property and I _do not_ want this - How do I get rid of it?
imo it should be illegal to add new features to peoples' pcs without permission... i didn't ask for it either, why are they putting it on my computer without telling me? :(
Because they want to control you. AI will require worship or blood soon.
Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life…
@@zerosoma33 ayo chil lmao
There's a solution to everything and it's called... Linux...
@@0xysan That's not a solution but a pain in the *ss!
Funny how Windows calls added bloat a feature. A lot of them require your MS account so they can track your activity. Thanx for this Brian 👍👍👍
I agree
I think bloatware is a Microsoft feature in itself. LOL. I always use a local account.
im so jealous of linux bros right now, they don't have to search for this sh*t
Thank you SO much. I could not get this off my machine and all the other videos were too messy. Straight to the point. Just what I needed. I really appreciate you and your time!
Its not showing up in registry editor for me, ive got the preview installed and just used it briefly. But its not showing in the registry?!? (Only shows cloudcontent, currentversion, and datacollection under policies\microsoft\windows)
Me either
You have to add the registry key yourself.
@@markarca6360 I made the registry key myself but it doesn't work. Microsoft probably made updates to stop people from disabling Copilot.
It's perfect for me...i'm an old-school user and if i have a question, i use the browser instead...
Does the same thing
Jokes on you edge gives you copilot results before websites now
@@lukebrowning4712 I wouldn't know, I categorically refuse to use edge
I followed instructions for Windows home, followed but looks at were it is supposed to be? But not found.
same here, im not seeing the copilot option in the registery.
infuriating that it tells you you can "hide" it but not uninstall.
Thanks, Brian. I haven't gotten the update yet. But when I do, I will disable it as you've shone. 👍
I've got windows 11 home. Windows copilot oes not show up on registry editor and I don't have the local group policies editor
I’m glad I’m STAYING on windows 10 😎
Each to there own I guess
Wait Windows 10 Home/Pro will go in EOL in 2025 I would upgrade to the LTSC IoT version.
@@satantiksaha-xm1iv I downgraded my laptop to windows 10 to fix the drivers and other errors
@@satantiksaha-xm1iv I would prefer Linux or Windows 10 LTSC over the garbage Windows 11.
Find myself looking for your videos' when I start You-Tube,, find them both informative and easy to follow, thanks for the info and your effort!
Nice! This is the first thing I'm going to do when moment 4 arrives. Thanks!
Thank you for the info.
I have Windows 11 Home and was at a loss on how to delete Copilot.
I will need to be on my laptop tomorrow morning so I may follow along.
Cheers, mate!!!
*Thank You just disabled it on my Win 11 Home*
Thank you for the Video :)) I Enabled Turn Off Copilot in GPEdit. More confusing it could not be described :))
Many Thanks Brian, have just disabled it on both my computers.
Thank you for the tutorial. I trust Microsoft about as much as the government (not at all), and adding any AI to my system makes me less comfortable than I already am. Disabling the feature makes the icon go away, but what files can be removed to get it completely off the system?
Good stuff, Thanks brian 😇👍
this helps immensely, I saw the ad for this on this platform and it honeslty looked helpful, but I'm still not sold on having copilot on my pc especially taking up space on my taskbar.
THANK YOU....worked perfect!!!
You're welcome!
Really appreciate the guide for Win Home versions.
Actually it is using edge to run itself, it not a standalone app and its Using lots of Ram all the time even if you close it. Its stupid move by Microsoft, if microsoft really wants to introduce Windows copilot , it should be a standalone app and should not be running in background after closing.
Thanks, worked like a charm.
You're welcome!
I already did this and it came back!
Thank you. Much appreciated
I love your channel Brian.
I followed this tutorial stepbystep but when I went to check my registry in windows i did not see any windows co-pilot
My gosh! Now we also have to deal with Crapilot too? This is half a misrespect (If you look it with one eye closed).
Oh boy actually it’s just time to install Linux instead. Once again thanks for the simple and comprehensive video!
Thank You!!! Easy Peasy
I uninstalled Edge after i did the first tutorial but the copilot still stood on the corner of my screen. When asked it how to deactivate, it send me a video where it said copilot is linked to edge so for to uninstall it you need to get rid of Edge and so I did
After that I decided to follow to registry tutorial, but when i go Policies>Microsoft>windows, copilot doesn't show... is it actually gone ?
thank you really helped !!
Great command to help in Security!
Perfect. Thanks!
very incredible video sir it really worked thanks a lot😍
hey, i have windows home so i tried the Registry Editor method but when i got to windows i didn't see Windows copilot option, is there another way? thank for the tutorial anyways
I have the same issue.
Thanks for the help that ai stuff is not for me
You're welcome
thank you so much for this video, you can actually enable Group policy on windows 11 home but download a little bat file.
Nice ..... Thanks Brian ..... I see they are also messing with Windows Mail in 2024 and after looking at that it doesn't make me warm and fuzzy .... Hope I have the option to keep it just like it is.
Thanks for the tip!
Worked perfectly, had to restart for co-pilot to be removed tho, thanx
Why can't you just right-click on the Taskbar click on Taskbar Setting and turn it off from there? Is there any advantage in doing so in the Registry?
Yes, you can right click and uncheck the preview to hide the button
@@Knards My question was is there a difference or advantage in doing it one way or the other.
People only do the Registry method to feel good.
@@quantumleaper Depends on whether you want to remove it, disable it or hide it
@@Knards How can you remove if all you are doing is editing the registry? The data is still on the drive after all. The question was about the registry after all.
This doesn't work now. In the Registry Editor, under Windows, there is no longer even a WindowsCopilot file to open.
Another great tip Brian and I thought it was also of real help to Home version users. Plus I must say that I am a fan of using the registry to do these things but I now have disabled the Coplit using the gpedit option. What intrigues me that why is gpedit not available on the Windows Home version?
The reason why I only install Windows Pro on all my systems. GPEdit is good to have.
Because a home user doesn't have a GROUP POLICY to EDIT
Thank you!😊
I have windows 11 home with copilot but the registry does not have copilot listed. I followed the string, easy, under the final string there is only cloud content, current version and data collection... has there been a windows 11 update since you did your video to block disabling copilot?
I also don't have copilot either, I believe I don't have it because my windows OEM product key setup by my retailer has it automatically removed.
I know exactly how to do it. Don't install Windows 11. It is an OS, spyware, malware, and adware all rolled into one. It is far better at spying than it is as an OS, that is for sure.
It will never be allowed on any of my computers. And yes, I made the mistake of trying it. It almost made me wish for Windows 8.
Luckily, Linux covers all of my needs. I was reasonably happy with Windows 10, once I got all the Telemetry and Cortana ripped out of it. It was way too much work keeping the system free of MSpyware though. I sure as hell am not going to fight with that again. Goodbye, Microsoft. I'm certain you won't miss me. I won't be missing you, either.
Thank you!
thank you
Thanks for this video. 2 questions for a windows 11 home user: How do I make a copy of my registry and where should I store it? Also, I do not see the file "Windows Copilot" as you show at 3:36 - any idea how to deal with that?
I'm having the same problem. Hopefully someone responds.
thanks, I use Group Policy Editor and Registry editor both, I still see an item ask copilot?
but most part it gone off desktop clock area no more seen.
thank god i found a guy using windows 11. i cant wait for windows 10 to be discontinued. i only like to use newer cpu's which means i can't use windows 10... well i can but they are made for 11.
thank youuu!!!
Problem: after switching it off in the Taskbar settings, it no longer shows up on the registry. And the computer refuses to open the group policy editor. Any ideas why?
How'd you remove the icon on the task bar? Did the computer side Dword 32bit and it's still there.
Restart PC. Works on Win10 as well.
I'm on windows 11 home but the directory for "windows copilot" isn't there. current user>software>policies> Microsoft>---missing here---. will i still be able to make the directory under the local machine if it wasn't under the user one??
edit: it didn't work, i tried creating the directory under the local machine folder but Im assuming since the directory didn't exist in the user folder it wasn't going to function in the local machine one.
yea same for me. aint working
installing software on peoples computer without permission should be illegal imo. thank for the help
Facts
I amcurrently running Windows 11 Pro Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.2361). Unfortunately, neither of the methods to disable Copilot in this video work in this version. Is there any other option?
I use the same version as you, I found the registry hack worked alright
Have you got the capital letters correct ? Mine had a space at the end too but it worked when I removed it.
thanks
Is it possible to keep Copilot but not have the icon on the taskbar?
I cannot find the copilot under windows. its just not there.
Same here. I believe it's because Microsoft changed it after recent updated ,so we need new guide for that. GPEDIT does work ,but Copilot did not show up in Registry Editor.
I really need to learn more of my Win 11 Pro. Thanks for the tip. I HATE Copilot and I resent Microsoft for shoving AI down our throats.
I did the registry thing and nothing was in the windows folder lol does that mean I don’t have the copilot at all??
I followed the registry steps exactly and it did not remove or disable it. :(
I have this policy activated but I never got Windows Copilot (W11 pro). I have to investigate what's happened
does not show up in my registry editor, followed instructions 3 times and no sign of it.
This doesn't work for me. I have Win11 Pro. Selected enable then apply and OK, and it's done nothing. Copilot is still there. Correction. I did all methods described in the video and then a quick restart and it's gone! Thanks very much.
Not working any more under current user in regexit and in local group policy, too.
Sir if you made your own windows 11 debloat program, i would trust it only from you. Would be happy to learn something like that is in the plans... .
i still dint get the update how do i go about getting the update
Thank you... Microsoft has some nerve sicking this resource hog on it's users without an option to opt out...!!!
I did that and I can still see it on my search bar
Same here
I just did that and I still have it on, I'll try again I'm on Win11 Pro. Still got the option to put it on I hate it. I enabled but it still can be used, I want it gone altogether from the taskbar.
Using the registry editor doesn't work to disable Copilot anymore.
Didn't work for me. My system is 64 bit. Should I use that rather than the 32 bit
I have the Copilot (Preview) what's the difference? I Enabled the policy as per video but still see Copilot Preview in my taskbar?!
Oh, I figured out how to disable it ,so u need go to settings-?personalization->task bar->turn off that damn copilot.
It worked well in 11 pro for workstation, but I had to re-start the Pc to make the icon disappear
Unfortunately, the following day the Windows Copilot preview popped up again even after carefully following these steps.
Sir,
I would like to ask you, Is windows 11 stable?
Moving from 10 to 11 is good ?
I was cautious before taking the plunge. I can only speak for myself but it's been fine. Microsoft have had plenty of time to iron out the bugs. Have they all gone, probably not but its not been an issue for me. I'm currently running the beta for the new release and even that has not caused me any issues. Just make sure your computer meets the requirements and ideally exists the minimum.
This extra Copilot and Cortana is A Pain in the Assss. The same as VIRUS signed Microsoft 😵🤯💔
I can't read the writing in the window. It's too small. Hopefully I will find a video that I can see.
dont get it with register stuff. my whole pc is not starting anymore HELP!!!
It's GD annoying. A bar on the right side. I disabled it inside Edge (don't show copilot) but it still shows up on the desktop and other browsers. And when it got on, even though I have updates turned off, it changed Edge Home Page, Favorites and all sort of settings and BROKE my connection to my network printer. I'm ready to go to MS HQ and GO POSTAL!!!!!!
Where was the beautiful woman in the thumbnail?
Pero después de todo eso, sigue apareciendo en el cuadro de búsqueda 🤷♂
Doesnt work. Still on my taskbar and installed on the system.
This policy thing doesnt do anything in 2024. Nerd keeps popping back on my computer.
Now I still not get it this feature how to enable it? I enable the roll out update but still not received it
Lots of people don't have it yet
ok @@Britec09
how do i get this feature anyway
10/10 have a like
is copilot in moment 4 ? i want it but cant get it to update windows it says error Install error - 0x800f081f
Yes it is in there
I would do a repair install. It fixes all Windows update problems.
@@Nick41622 will it delete stuff ?
@@mategamer20 I did reply. Bloody UA-cam deleted my reply.
@@mategamer20 No.
They disabled right click so that we would all have to seek out special videos and navigate the labyrinthine registry in order to disable their precious AI nightmare.
It should be illegal to add garbage like this to someone’s pc. Thank you for the video!
Yeah. Btw the latest dall-E 3 version that was a day or two adopted by image creator is flipping amazing. A huge leap in generation. I made an image and the results were very noticeably improved from usual
These people employed another way to facilitate deep data collection and surveillance its obsoletely disgusting they fully integrated it into Windows 11 OS and give you no options to remove it and they even removed the way of Registry to remove it there is no longer a WindowsCopilot folder located in the registry (atleast mine)... The AI monitors the data and activity done within the OS with no way to disable it this is being forced on everyone with the corporation selling your personal data for a profit and taking away every fiber of privacy that once existed..... O and also they sell your data to the people that scam call you, scam email you, and advertise false scam website ads so Welcome to the current world where your life is just another part of someone else's dollar... 🙃
Is Copilot the reason why my CPU temp spikes up to 70+ C .....or is it some other Moment 4 configuration?
Edit** 10 minutes later. It seems to be Copilot. I disabled it and now my CPU temp is back to 45-50 C. I guess Intel didn't fore see their 10th Gen Core CPU heat fluctuation problem with a future Microsoft Windows feature.
Worry when the temp reaches 100c
@@GregM True. But still, I didn't like the fan revving up at 70C and then back down at 45C and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over
@@GregM Or use water cooling like my friend. My friend's intel runs over 80C all the time, he going to go to water cooling when the rest of the parts come in. That will make 4 people using water cooling or AIO.
@@quantumleaper If it is not a 10900K but say a 10600K a after market cooler would help a heck of a lot. Just did this with a 13500 CPU
@@GregMI have no clue which intel my friend is using, all I know is it runs at around 80C all the time. I have only once had a heating problem with my CPU but that was because I bought a P2 400 but inside slot 1 was a P2 350 Chip, didn't verify that until a year or so ago. It said it was a 400 on the outside.
I would never want this, but I appreciate you making videos for people who don't want it and also for those that do. Thank you!
I have just done all of this and it has not worked at all. have double checked everything.
Update: I found out that Microsoft have stopped this working on windows 11 home version. I managed to get it to work with a program called donotspy11. Shame on Microsoft for forcing this shite on its customers. Wasted 3 hours of my time.
The fact that copilot is not simply presented with 2 selectable options to turn on/off, but has a whole instance in between that you have to "turn on" in order to ultimately "turn off" something else really annoys me. The only reason it is designed this way is because they seem to hope that the inversely proportional approach will make people accidentally turn copilot on instead of off. This shit is really starting to get on my nerves. Microsoft shouldn't be surprised if people turn their backs on them and switch to Linux. This bullshit makes me angry.
Goodbye, new Cortana! This is seriously frustrating; ridiculous that I would have to upgrade to Pro in order to not hack the registry. Will Microsoft never learn?
its not in the folder you said
Using Anti beacon which turns most of this user monitoring spyware off on windows 11.
