I'm loving my X-T50. Lot of people who kept saying "just get an X-T5" don't realize how important the size and weight is for some people. I have a wrist pain issue so the smaller body paired with the old 35mm F 1.4 has been an absolute pleasure for everyday use. My larger bodied cameras have been gathering dust as I find myself tossing this in my tiny sling bag everywhere I go! The IQ is excellent and the lens is interchangeable unlike the X100 series so it was a no brainer on which camera to get. I also find the film dial a fantastic addition. I love easily flipping between the different sims and the front command dial can be set up for ISO so it's really no big deal! in fact, I find that having the command dial as ISO is better than having drive or ISO on the top left.
I was torn but went with the X-S20. Surprise was that the unmarked let top dial is also a film sim dial out of the factory! Only thing I don't like are the rear buttons, they are flush level with the body so I won't be able to use them with gloves on. But I can use thumb and index finger on the dials which is great.
I sold my x-t30 and got the x100vi back in March. And while I'm enjoying it in many ways and getting great results, in reality I've found the fixed lens more limiting than liberating, the size/weight difference is not very significant to me. I've also looked at the x-t50, esp since I've already had the x-t30 previously. I'm happy that it has IBIS, but I'm not so stoked on the 40mpx sensor, since that's the one on the x100vi and imho it's overkill, I actually switched to heif only just because the raw files are so heavy I don't want to fill up my hard drive. Considering that and the price, I think the xs-20 is a better buy at this point, even though it's PASM and doesn't have the retro dials.
@@dsego84 I'm using the front and rear dials as 'replacements' for the top dials and it works better as it's a single hand index finger and thumb setup and reminds me of my X-M1.
Tudor, Thanks for an entertaining video and for further reducing any concerns I had about my new X-T50, which I have not yet used very much. I was interested in your remarks about one hand shooting as I haven’t found it very comfortable. But I have now bought the Smallrig grip as you recommended. Unfortunately, shopping in the UK, I was able to use your Amazon affiliate link.
I have the X-T30 II which appears to be about the same size and I added a handgrip which makes it a perfect fit. My X-H1 has the power grip and that is huge, heavy to carry around, so, it sits at home unless I am shooting locally. So, having the X-T50 as a second option might be an option and putting the film sims on top with a dedicated dial is brilliant. Fujifilm is working on a firmware update for the X-T5 to address the focus problems. Thanks, Tudor for your insight on the X-T50.
I have the XT3, XT5, XH2 and now the XT50. they are just a small part of my cameras from different manufacturers. I enjoy using different cameras for different types of photography, some are my everyday cameras, some i use for travel or in places that my bigger more expensive camera bodies don't go. I plan on using the XT50 as an every day shooter and travel camera. I have a wide variety of glass for my Fujifilm cameras, I will be using the camera with some of the smaller prime lens, I put the Smallrig grip on it, the kit came with a red shutter button the grip is black and the bottom plate is gray to match the camera, it also came with a gray hotshoe cover. I plan on taking it to a local State park to photograph the fall colors. So do I think that this is better than a XT5, i would say no but it works better as a casual camera that gives me more options. Life is better when you have options and being married and wanting to stay that way my options are given to the food I enjoy and the cameras that I use. Would photography be what it is today if you only have one or two types of cameras, and that is why I have full frame, APSC and Micro 4/3 cameras, variety is the spice of photography.
FUN FUN FUN Thank you, another enjoyable video. I am also loving my X-T50 I have sold all my larger lenses, and bought two Voigtlanders, not really having much experience previously of manual focussing I am not feeling your frustration so much. The Fuji 30mm macro is brilliant on it and the 56mm although heavier is still nicely balanced. You are so right about the film sim wheel it has brought back the fun! The only thing I miss from my X-H2S is the viewfinder but I am getting used to that. As you say the battery life is not the issue I thought it would be. Great camera, so happy switching, I have opted for the small rig half leather grip as it works much better with the fatter 56mm. Thank you Tudor for inspiring me and look forward to more of you Voigtlander adventures on the X-T50
Hi Tudor, I really like your fujifilm videos since you‘re one of the only ones talking about manual lenses. I got into photography only six months ago, but ever since I tried my first TTArtisan manual lens, I am looking for a premium manual lens that I can pair with my X-T20. Now I just found out that Thypoch Simera has a 28mm f1.4 lens for Fujifilm (Matthew Ruderman made a video about it) and I would LOVE to see you try it out and hear your opinion about it. I love what I‘ve seen about this lens and even believe, it might be the best manual focussing X-Mount lens (from an image quality standpoint, although this is a bit subjective of course) out of all the manufacturers out there. Also, a comparison to the Voigtländer 27mm f2 would be so so nice. I really hope you like the idea, I appreciate your videos a lot.
The original price didn't make sense and you can see the signs now in the frequent sales. In Switzerland the camera body was released at around 1350 CHF, now its standard price is 1250 CHF, but it's often on sale for 1066-1150 CHF. Meanwhile a X-T30 II body is normally 799 and often on sale for 650.
Thanks for sharing. Almost exact same opinions about both pro and cons. I was suffering from the MF issue and wondering it was my setting problem😂 or the issue with my new XF lense. It forced me to frame before focus completely. Hope I will figure out a solution soon to exit the zoomed view smoothly
I just want a small camera but that's powerful with a high resolution sensor. I want to be able to use it for versatile travel photography when I travel the world, or to have in my jacket pocket for everyday shots in NYC with my friends. And I've found that dream combo in the X-T50. The form-factor and quality make it amazing. However calling the battery life "amazing" is wild. Because it is NOT🤣

dont know what kind of smartphone you are using..since I value your opinion much, would really love to see a comparison video of fuji jpegs vs iphone jpegs..wonder how would each perform on street, the ease of use, IQ etc..
I don't understand what problem you have with manual focusing on a lens without electronic contacts? Are you talking about focus confirmation? You have eyes, and you can magnify the element to fine-tune the focus. You also need to have the histogram + exposure compensation set. Of course, you switch the AF mode to M on the front of the body ;) In the camera settings, you allow shooting without a lens, meaning the camera will trigger the shutter without checking if a lens is attached. Is that so hard to achieve? In return, you better utilize the sensor's capabilities in terms of maximum image resolution. Let's be honest, a zoom or a lens designed for Fuji years ago won't handle this task. You simply need APO lenses designed for high-resolution sensors if you want true quality from a 40 MP sensor.
Hi Tudor you mention fun using the film dial and so one, maybe it is good to make an in depth video about this fun. Because honestly I still don’t see any benefit Cheers
