    What's your favorite tip or trick for setting up your Fujifilm camera??

    • @darekw1967
      @darekw1967 3 місяці тому

      Your method for brightening the screen in the studio when you have a dark background with a flash doesn't work when you're using a 100% manual lens, and there's no aperture reading from the lens. After setting the parameter from the menu as you showed and pressing the 'AF' function button, nothing happens. This function doesn't work. The question is: how can I make it work with such a manual lens? Changing the function button assignment doesn't change anything in this matter. ;)

    I just found your channel tonight. This one on the XT50 is incredibly helpful. I learned so much from just this one video. As a former computer systems’ instructor, I can say that you are a natural teacher. Many thanks, Pete.

    I’ve set the ael button to digital tele converter for now otherwise I’d forget about it altogether. I’ve noticed that this camera makes a sound even when image stabilisation and pre autofocus is switched off. Not sure what it is yet.

    Nice video, though it'd help to see the switches, buttons and dials you're talking about. For 'auto', is there an 'A' on a dial, or is it something else? I'm not a beginner, but when it comes to digital photography, I sort of am. So seeing the buttons you're using to apply the settings would be as useful as hearing about the settings and what they do. It probably makes for a more cluttered video though!

    Are you having any issues with continuous auto focus or have they now resolved these concerns?

      I have heard nothing from Fuji regarding this. I've been using mine in single shot with a single point lately, it's just easier for what I shoot.

    Have you noticed that in video mode, the dial for changing film profiles doesn't work?

    Can you customize a film simulation selected on the dial ? If yes will the changes be permanent or will be reset as soon as you leave that simulation ?

      You have 3 custom FS1, 2 and 3 settings. Once you register them it will save them. I didn't see a way to customize them, but I didn't attempt this so I can't give you a definitive answer here, sorry!

      @@PeteCocoPhoto The X-T50 is featured in various UA-cam videos, but no one talks about the fundamental issues with this camera. Perhaps it's a deliberate attempt to hide the flaws or simply due to insufficient time spent with the device. The main problem is the least intuitive menu system of all, which is a nightmare for new users.
      I don't understand how the left dial for selecting film simulations can be disabled by default for video mode. Enabling this dial for video mode is not possible through the menu options without tapping the screen with your finger. It sounds ridiculous, but that’s how it’s set up in this case.
      Yesterday, I was in a store testing how the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 lens works with the X-T50, and it took me an hour to figure out how to set the aperture on the camera (the lens doesn’t have an aperture ring). If you think assigning the front dial to the "aperture" function solves the issue, you're gravely mistaken. That solution doesn’t work. So what does? Well, exactly. It took me an hour, but now it works. ;) The sales assistant in the camera store, with years of photography experience, said she would never have figured out the solution. I practically know the user manual by heart, yet the methods that resolved my problems are not described there. There’s no explanation of which function works in which mode. If anyone knows, tell me how to get the A, S, P, and M modes on the X-T50? In the end, I became an expert on the X-T50 and its hidden features, and after a few days and many hours of experimenting, I’ve set up everything I need. To be fair, I must say that the X-T50 produces phenomenal image quality with excellent technical characteristics, but this isn’t achievable with Fujinon lenses, which weren’t designed for 40 MP sensors. I’m currently using high-resolution lenses from Voigtlander and the Sigma 56mm f/1.4, which works well with this sensor

    It's weird that some cameras have the AF Zone custom settings, some don't like the X-T5 for example. On the other hand the X-T5 can use up to 1/8000s as minimum shutter speed in auto ISO mode, the flagship sports action camera X-H2S can only go up to 1/500s.
    Who is developing their software?!

    Have you noticed that in darker lighting conditions, the display in the viewfinder gets extremely noisy? When manually focusing, this is a NIGHTMARE for the photographer.

    Thanks for doing these videos Pete! I’ve been looking into the Fuji cameras lately and this looks like a really nice, fun and capable camera. Looking to get a Fuji as my ‘all-day walk around’ camera and also to have something lighter to take with me on my flying trips ✈️ 👨‍✈️ Any thoughts about choosing this over the X100VI/V ? Keep these videos coming… enjoying them a lot (and I’m not even a Fuji shooter (yet 😊) )

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks, Peter! Glad you are enjoying the vids! The X100VI is awesome, it just boils down to whether you will miss having the ability to change lenses. If you are looking to keep things as compact as possible though, that is definitely the way to go.

    The main purpose of the film sim dial is to help identify which reviewers are shills or at best compromised. None of them like or use the dial and you can instantly dismiss any following opinion they own if they don't immediately dismiss it as absurd...

      That's a really terrible take. "If reviewers don't think like me the review is invalid". Christ.

    • @thomashill5768
      @thomashill5768 3 місяці тому

      @@POVwithRC that would be a terrible take if that's what I said. There's a lot of compromise and grey area in camera design and there is rarely a wrong or right. I don't like flippy screens but can understand why someone else might. When it comes to the film sim dial however, it is very cut and dry. If you say you like the dumdum dial no other opinion you give is valid.

      It's for those of us who aren't professional reviewers but got drawn in by the hype and are trying out photography for the first time, I love experimenting with different film simulations while capturing shots.

    • @thomashill5768
      @thomashill5768 3 місяці тому

      @@mattlife25 I'm not sure what a professional reviewer is but there's nothing wrong with experimenting with different film sims. I still do it all the time. Doesn't change the fact that the film sim dial is a terrible solution to a problem that didn't even exist. You could just shoot in bracket mode with your favorite film sims which works 10 times faster and better than a dial ever could. The bracket mode is conveniently located on the drive dia...oh wait they took it away for that goofy dumdum dial.
