    Album: MER DE NOMS
    Track 6: 3 Libras
    ____________________________________________
    Threw you the obvious
And you flew with it on your back
    A name in your recollection
    Down among a million same
Difficult not to feel a little bit
    Disappointed and passed over
    When I look right through,
    See you naked but oblivious
    And you don't see me
But I threw you the obvious
Just to see if there's more behind the
    Eyes of a fallen angel,
    Eyes of a tragedy
Here I am expecting just a little bit
    Too much from the wounded
But I see, see through it all
    See through, see you
'Cause I threw you the obvious
To see what occurs behind the
    Eyes of a fallen angel,
    Eyes of a tragedy
    Oh well, oh well
    Apparently nothing,
    Apparently nothing at all
    You don't, you don't
    You don't see me
    You don't, you don't
    You don't see me
    You don't, you don't
    You don't see me
    You don't, you don't
    You don't see me
    You don't see me
    You don't, you don't
You don't see me at all

For me too as well. Not my darkest time, but i'm Suffering other this girl that I "fell in love with". Then she hurt me / "Destroyed" me emotionally... and now I'm going through the Healing process (this song helps). Not sure what You went through, but it could have been worse than my situation. Glad that you "made it" through those dark times...

The year this album was released my 3 child was born, a boy, my Cody. All three of my children born in the same week of October. Three libras. They keep me balanced. All grown now and living their lives. They carry my light. Praise God.
I used to sing this son to Cody as I nursed him. My milk flowing down his cheeks as my tears rained down on him. I knew his Father did not love us and never would.
Is it coincidence Maynard how artists some how magically parallel the lives of the people who look to them for the emotion necessary to forge their way forward in life.

I like revisiting apc and tool songs because at each new point in my life I find new meaning or some type of odd paralell to events I'm experiencing that never occured to me before.
That's the magic of profound artistry like this. It contains so many facets and perspectives that it can be anything you need it to be or connect to you on a unique level no one else may be able to sense.
This song in particular could be a veritable theme song to what I'm going through now. I'm making my feelings obvious but perhaps expecting too much from the wounded.

Maynard is such a unique talent. There is a sense of power, purity and clarity in his sense of tone and vocal expression that you simply don't often hear and experience normally. He's also very adaptable as a musician and knows how to blend in different styles seemingly without great effort. He's one of the greatest modern vocalists in my opinion. He was born with something special and he knows how to use his voice to connect with the music in a sincere way.

    • @zentertainer217
      @zentertainer217 8 місяців тому

I get it and agree to a point. But, like Maynard himself, I've always gravitated to the music/musicians in tool and APC and yes the the singing and lyrics are perfect, I really bugs me when people give all the credit to the front Man of a band. It's one of the last things to be added and he's said himself the music is what births the lyrics .in matters of importance its lower in the big picture which is why he stands in the back.
I truly love Maynard as well but a big problem I have with the fan base is they spend so much time fixating about mjk they don't truly appreciate the level of talent behind him.... not saying you don't. This is just a general observation being a long time fan and having covered apc live alot. This is one of the best songs written imo

Hate how well this song fits into something that wasn't even a relationship to me, just the fact that I did so much for someone who had been through so much yet they take a single thing I say the wrong way and all of a sudden I'm the world's worst person. Despite the fact that though I had dealt with much horrible shit through my life and did everything I could to make someone not have to go through the same horrible state I had been through, they didn't see me for who I was, and what I had been trying to do this whole time for them. And I can't help but just feel a little disappointed in them.

It could be about someone that really interests you and is constantly on your mind but when you try to talk to them they only give you nothing. They don't see you as important as you see them. Oblivious to your feelings, even when you throw the obvious in their face. Even when a libra is staring into your eyes they try to understand but they never will, it will always be nothing. Most libras have very attractive faces to most and angelic like eyes. An air sign..flew with it on your back

This song, for me because of what I'm going through right now, is about falling so hard for a girl that's going through so much pain in her life. A divorce because of betrayal and being mistreated by guys in the past. I see her through all that and good lord isn't she gorgeous inside and out. She knows I have feelings, but whether she gives them a second thought I can't say. It's hard to tell where I stand in her life. As the song goes, " difficult not to feel a little disappointed and passed over" and then "here I am expecting just a little bit too much from the wounded". Those lines hit me so hard. No matter what, I will wait for this angel if it takes the rest of my life. She is one of a kind.

Why does "life" have to be soooo hard? soooo difficult? soooo sad? soooo selfish? soooo unexplained? sooooo disappointing? Thank God for the talents of music from A Perfect Circle and Led Zeppelin....and....?????
Your soul has a chance to repair itself and is at ease while simply listening and absorbing yourself within its melodies.

    • @inoland55
      @inoland55 8 років тому +9

Life must be hard. You must experience difficulties and disappointments, and there must always be the unexplained. Every one of those are necessary because they are the driving forces behind our mind's evolution. Experiencing heartache or trauma and then overcoming it is the single most effective way to consciously grow, I would think. Experiencing these tribulations personally or witnessing what others endure, seeing the transformation from disparity to victory, teaches empathy and compassion. It connects and bonds us. How could you ever know what true happiness is if you do not know what true pain and misery are? Why would you care for the well being of another if you couldn't relate? Everything about us is a culmination of the overcoming of obstacles. If we never had these struggles and only ever had it easy, we would just be dull emotionless vessels who's existence is no different than that of an insect, breed and die. I appreciate your comment, it gave me some fuel to burn and think. Take care

To me this song is all about wanting to love someone regaurdless of what it takes, but that person doesn't even know they exist or doesn't want anything to do with them at all. It is a shitty feeling being invisible to someone you want to make happy and be with.

Maynard's singing and creative vocal approach are second to NONE. God gave him something special and he in return realized that talent.

You thought this song was emotional? Wait till u realize he's talking about his dead wife/ex wife, or mom either one, still changes the entire meaning. Have you ever looked through the eyes of a fallen angel, and been disappointed when they don't see you at all?.........

You're spreading misinformation. Brena is named after his ex-fiancé and the mother of his child. He doesn't have a dead wife. Judith and Wings for Marie are obviously about his mother, but there's nothing to confirm that this is about her too. You're just blindly speculating.

I dodged all of the good stuff when it was new, to come back to it at age 38. Now I've got the MJK list on my dads play lists and he loves to just kick back and listen ant let his mind wander. He said its almost as good as the shrooms he used to get. He even loves the videos and said that MJK is a bigger man than most can be.
