Glory to God! Thank you Father Peter. Also in the life of Saint Leonid of Optina, parents had brought their ill daughter for healing to the holy elder. Elder Leonid went away for a little bit to pray. Coming out of his cell he told them why this happened. Your daughter is suffering from this illness due to the fact that you both neglect the 12 feast days of the church throughout the year. They both repented and the daughter was healed.

Thank you, Father Peter Heers, for persistently providing us with the unwatered down testimony of our Orthodox saints.

Father I for one see marital relations abstention as beautiful. It not only makes your partner more desirable and makes your union better, but it deepens the connection because you show you are not married merely to satisfy carnal desire but to draw close to God.

I do not understand why, the church feels the need to control every area of our lives. I am overwhelmed by the weight of the man made yolk that one must bear , to be found acceptable to the church. My life is extremely stressful, and determining my days ruled by a calendar, makes me overwhelmed.

The Orthodox Church is not legalistic. This is why having a spiritual father is essential. The spiritual father can apply the medicine correctly, and it is necessary to struggle. None of us can claim a perfect fast as it takes constant effort.

We all fall short of the perfection of Orthodox life. It’s humbling don’t despair it’s a lifelong struggle. Also speak directly to your own priest. Everyone’s situation is different

Alright, firstly, I am only an inquirer who has somewhat recently made the decision to embrace Orthodoxy. I have a perspective on this but I do not know if it is the perspective of the Church so please do not take it as that.
Secondly... yeah, it is hard to follow all of the rhythms and cerimonies and teachings and everything else the Church dictates... there is a reason for them though and the following is my perspective on it.
My perspective on the Church's level of instruction in every level of our lives is because both God and _satan_ are in every level of our lives. Scripture does say our bodies are God's temple, and our bodies are present in every moment of our lives by definition just like God and satan are who are both trying to get us to follow them at every moment and every level of our lives. God does this because He loves us and wants what is best for us every moment, satan wants to destroy us at every level and every moment. On every level and at every moment we choose satan or God, the Church is simply giving us instructions to help us make the right choice for our spirit and body. We can choose to follow it or not, the Church does not force us, but she does hold the right to approve or disapprove like any person or entity does, moreso as the instrument of God's will on earth. (Again, all my perspective, not the official stance of the Church which my perspective only may happen to align with)
Finally, the way I was raised, and it makes sense (to me at least), the more you love someone the more work you do for them. So I try to keep holy days holy and without embracing worldly passions as much as possible because I love God and want to do service to Him and give Him appropriate glory and respect, and in my view, the more I can give Him the better.
I hope this helps, or at least gives you something to think on. God bless you and have mercy on you in your struggles and help you however you need.

I can understand your frustration with feeling overwhelmed. While I’m not qualified to give advice, I can share this from experience: relying on internet advice will steal your peace and cause you to feel overwhelmed. Consider seeking guidance from a real-life spiritual father/ priest and if your married listen to your husband. Don’t listen to the internet. READ the lives of the saint. Go to Church focus on the Divine Liturgy and her teachings, build a deep relationship with Christ, His Holy and most blessed Mother the Theotokos, and the saints and through the church she will provide solace and direction. Christ in his abounding love and mercy has promised to not lead you astray.
May God have mercy and save us! ☦️

    I agree 100%
It is sad we need to talk about this but it is because people nowdays think about sex all day !
We defeated that pagan culture in first centuries but Heretics bring it back

That’s too much. No relationships on fasting days that are 200 days a year. No relationship before going to church to have the communion. No relationship on joyful holy days.
Who is going to bring babies, the stark?

For one, it’s particularly on holy days. Secondly, if one cannot control themselves with regard to relations, what else will one struggle to restrain himself in. The apostles struggled when Christ revealed that looking at a woman in lust is committing adultery with her in one’s heart. You want eternal life? Be prepared to deny yourself and pick up your cross. You can also ask your spiritual father for a relaxation of things. This weak throwing up of the hands because of a hard saying is antithetical to the Christian life.

I'm hesitant to make a comment on this delicate topic but I see there are at least two Priests in this thread so hopefully one at least will correct me if I make a mistake.
I'm trying to remember that Christ's love for us is incomprehensible and so any teaching consistent with the witness of the Church is full of Christ's love. The purpose is to draw the married couple into a closer relationship with Christ as well as each other. We can approach the teachings of the Church from a legalistic mindset but that's not how the teachings/commandments were given and it's hard to experience the love of Christ if we choose the legalistic approach.
I've found there is a real, tangible intimacy between husband and wife that comes from joint obedience to Christ - particularly abstaining from physical relations for a time by mutual consent. This also assumes the guidance of a good spiritual Father. Fr. Peter, in his last talk on Revelation (about 50 minutes in), discussed the marriage between Christ and the Church as the supranatural marriage with the lesser marriage (also blessed by God of course) being between a man and a woman. It seems right that we have many days set aside for this supranatural marriage and also days where it is permitted for us to come together physically.

It teaches a couple to appreciate one another when they do come together in the marital embrace. They do not take this act for granted and respect it and one another. It becomes more than just something to do or something to scratch an itch. That is part of why this fasting is important.

My question was about who is going to be able to conceive babies on a fertile day if in a year for Orthodox Christians there are almost no ok day for conceiving children.
200 days of the year you have to fast and no marital relationships
Then there are holy days and they can’t even celebrate, then if you want to have holy communion you can’t have marital relationships for theee days, then the woman has menstrual cycle and you can’t conceive a kid but you can’t even have sex for ritual impurity
How many days a year are left? How many of these days “permitted” by the church will also be a ovulation day for the orthodox woman?
      That’s impossible.
