Thank you Big Super. You can interview me anytime. You really do an enormous public service. Thank you to all the subscribers for all your kind comments. Pumpkin loves you too.
Hi there, I wanted to send a hug and say I hope everything goes well for you! I admire your attitude and the independent life you have lead the kindness you have shown others. I am so sorry for the difficult living of our senior folk. You deserve only the very best! Blessings to you xoxo. Big hug for Pumpkin too. P.S, I think your room really neat and tidy.
Thank you. My daughter would offer to let me stay with her but she's trying to find a new place to live. I like living on my own anyway. She comes over to take me grocery shopping so I don't have to try to get everything on the bus. She also helps me carry everything upstairs. There's been a lady named Janine who watched the interview and recognized my complex. She has brought me 2 weeks worth of cooked meals. All I have to do is put them in the microwave. She's a great cook. A gentleman from New York some how got my address and sent me a package with a toy and some treats for Pumpkin. When I did the interview, I never dreamed it would get the response it got. I feel loved and I don't feel alone. There are so many of us going through the same thing. I'm more fortunate than so many other seniors. My heart really goes out to them. I don't complain because it would just leave me feeling negative. I don't like feeling negative.
I think she's more grateful to be without a car. It's just another expense and responsibility, she knows isn't necessary in her life right now. She does sound positive, she did state she was happy where she's at.
My family get angry at me because I take care of my grandmother, instead of just moving out and leaving her alone in a big city, but when I see videos like this, it further instills the desire to take care of her. She took care of me and laid down her personal desires to raise me. There is no way I could turn my back on her so that she doesn’t “ stunt my life”. It would literally feel like a dishonor! 💯
@@medilcabus6028 you are absolutely right and that’s the most important part of all, Thank you for that reminder as far as my heart that only comes from God and the way my grandmother raised me, I constantly tell people everything good they like about me was cultivated by her, it’s my honor to be here for her I’m honored she’s still living, and I get so much valuable knowledge from her, I’m BLESSED ❤️💯
I'm 60, on full disability, and $1050 a month would take all but $147 of my check. Having hard enough time now with a $516 mortgage and $320 lot rent. But we're still blessed! 🙏🏼 I sympathize with you. Best to you!!!
@@eckankar7756 You and I seem to be on the same track. I'm 70 and bought my little house 30 years ago when I could actually pay cash for it. If I hadn't, I'd be in bad shape, but like you, I did the right thing.
Most wouldn't if depending on SS alone. The lady seems to recieve other benefits, and the place seems decent too. It's clean and as she said, safe. Safety is very important to everyone, and even more so to a senior.
@@margaretr5701 I agree. The woman seems perfectly happy there and seems to have everything she needs. I don't understand all the people whining on her behalf. Billions of people would kill to be in her situation.
@@kerrynight3271 Same. We are a few years older than you, bought a place we could afford 50 years ago. Mortgage was paid about 25 years ago and we live off our pensions and are doing fine. I'm not sure how people will do in the future. Nobody puts anything much away for personal pension anymore. Even now, every month, even if there's only $20 left, whatever is in checking at the end of the month gets transferred to savings.
$1050 a month for a single room? And it takes almost all of her social security? This is disgraceful. This woman worked her entire life, spent time caring for her ailing sister and now she is essentially trapped. The fact that she says she's fine and doesn't need much doesn't excuse this situation.
This is why people need to work and save during their early years, I am so that by the time I retire my home is pay off and has minimum maintenance… I tell my friends to buy something while they are young but they rather rent…even with all these ridiculous prices… I know if a lady who bough a small home worked really hard in a bakery … did not make crazy money but she saved and the she paid off the home by the time she retired …now she is enjoying her retirement…

You never own a home. Never. You have property taxes and if you don't pay then they get it. You have repairs that have to come out of your pocket. You have to upkeep the yard. Either way apartment or home, you will pay for it til the day you die if you want to live in it. I have had a home, but I prefer an apartment just for the reasons listed above. I have friends who envy my lifestyle that own homes but getting older and cannot keep it up. They want someone else to pay and perform the job if a major appliance goes out. I sold my home. I have had several homes actually but I prefer to rent, also I am not tied to one place should I want to move again.
This woman is wealthier in spirit than people who live in expensive homes and drive expensive cars, because they are in debt and can never have enough to be happy. She is grateful for what she does have, and doesn't feel bitter about what she doesn't have.
Living is good but we should not just live but thrive. I suggest everyone go online right now and watch the documentary THRIVE : What On Earth Will It Take?
Wealthy in spirit doesn't cut it. Anyone who does not own a home is in absolute hell now. Every day, week, month, all people can do is think about paying the high rent.

@@virgilhilts3924 what poor choices did she make? Becoming a widow, getting old, taking time out of her life to care for a dying relative? You sound heartless.
As odd as this may sound, judgement of any kind is fundamentally evil. Judging or determining what another human "deserves" without the totality of understanding their history and the wrong they've likely done to others, presumes that God is "unfair". Empathy is better than "judgement".
It’s a crying shame that this country can’t do better for our elderly and veterans. I’m so tired of the greed in this country that allows this to happen😞
I worked for a senior care at home company for 4 yrs. I had to quit because my older brother was dying of cancer and he needed me. I was only payed $8.00 hrs. and the seniors had to pay $25 just to live in their own homes. I was also sent to work in nursing homes & senior living faculties to become that friend that cared. Now that I'm a senior I'm more terrified of growing older than of dying. Seniors should be respected and not forgotten.
Think about moving to Mexico or another.. I am moving to the phillippines in March to live out my retirement.. there are lots of Americans living in other countries because of the lower cost of living
That's a ridiculous reason to quit a job. My mother had cancer and I never quit my job. I can't understand these people should have had jobs that they are nor young. My wife and I retired I got my 30 yrs. In and still worked after getting my pension. My wife did to until she was 72 . We are lucky but we worked hard. I am sorry these people just want pity. This where tax payers money goes. How foes she het 1200 a month did she shouldn't get food Stamps to many people getting. My wife work her job 400 years. As if you can 'see right through these people'... like this sweet lady...you only seeing negative things... and you project your own judgement on to all of them and only see what you want to see. This lady looked after her sister while she had cancer and you see THAT as something to JUDGE her for because YOU never quit YOUR job when your mother had cancer....well good for you...let's just judge another person's decision to care for her sister full time as she was dying, making her sister's diminishing health her main priority. People struggling in life like this sweet lady would not want your pity......or empathy....that you are not capable of giving because of your cold judgemental soul.
The fact this woman adopted a dog that nobody wanted and can barely feed herself tells me alot about the compassionate person she is. Hope you could provide a link to help her support her dog.
So true, its people with no money who are the most giving usually. My dog is a German shepherd with hip dysplagia, she costs more in food than my partner and I spend; but she is worth it. Makes you feel good. Yes a lovely lady. I'd give if they have a fund page.
There are so many who are NOT grateful for the roof over their heads. It's nice to know some are. Never take life for granted because it can change in a heartbeat!!
I am a retired nurse and I cry when I hear people saying that a nurse should still work when she/he is over 70 ! They have no idea how those retiring nurses worked. I’m the expert after working full time for 45+ years. We were standing/rushing/bending/ lifting 80% of the time and did not have the help of nurse’s aides- more aides were hired in the recent years.( lower wages ) . My hard work and long hours rewarded me with a bad back, bad hips, and feet/leg pains that did not ‘retire’ when I did. Save all your money (or have kids-you can’t do both) 😢
No you make changes to your expenditures and look for an affordable country that you can move to. I live with $750 monthly SS pension. Other options is to share a house with your family or friends
I love this woman already. Her attitude in life is worth emulating. Her gratitude of having a roof over her head and feeling safe where she is makes her role model to us seniors.

I’m not a senior but choose to live like this in Florida. I realized I don’t need a lot of space and the utilities are included in rent that is under $950.00. There are some of us younger professionals that look after the seniors on a fixed income here. I’m praying this woman is blessed with the same ✨
That's so wonderful. Always brightens my days interacting with the younger people. I live better in a smaller space myself. Easier and faster to maintain and manage. You're a smart person in my book.
As a senior on a fixed income, we are left with very little we can afford. It breaks my heart. I've worked hard all my life and to be cut down to a measly fixed income , living is not easy
Yea my parents didn’t know how to invest. They made literally a fortune over working years but spent it all. Now they are going to retire with nothing.
@@eckankar7756 I commend you for preparing and using your time to retire wisely. You were fortunate. My mother and father (divorced and living separately) got about $20 per month each in food stamps. Mom had about $700 a month income from disability, and dad got around $600 a month from Social Security. They both made it by living frugally, but never had vacations, trips to the movies, never ate out at restaurants, etc.

Terry’s attitude and spirit is unbelievably positive and humbling. I dion’t know how she manages to live on $200 cash and food stamps of approximately $130.00 every month. There’s no surplus of resources for unexpected expenses. How does she manage purchasing toiletries, pet food, pet care, hair cuts, grooming, etc.? Terry, it appears, has worked the majority of her adult life, yet, has so little resources in retirement. I imagine working poor wages with no retirement plan available or affordable for most of the jobs she faithfully worked. Terry’s former work history is a shining example of jobs that keep this country and economy running. Terry deserves better. Workers deserve better.
I too live in a old hotel changed into a efficiency for 1000 a month. I bring in 930 in ss. I can't afford anything extra at all. I have worked hard all my life. I never thought at 67 I would struggle like this. They do not do hardly any repairs, and want you to be grateful that you pay 1000 dollars for a room that doesn't even have a closet, very small room and bathroom. After the second month my ceiling gave way to neglected pipes upstairs. I had to stay up outside all night because of flooding and my bed was soaked. These are not furnished. I didn't have extra to even get a motel so I slept on a ceramic tile floor. The manager stated I should have had renters insurance. My door barely closes and locks. I cook on rusty stove and refrigerator, both old. The manager said I should be grateful. Mind you, I am grateful that I don't live in the streets, but to me 1000 a month is way too much for this efficiency. Florida is out of control for rental properties. It's not a good life, but you try to do the best you can.❤
Terry is living proof that one does not need to HAVE a lot, in order to BE a lot. She carries herself with gratitude and humor - along with a wonderful sense of dignity. Cheers and blessings to her and her cute dog Pumpkin!
@@godjhaka7376She's pretty content. That's how she is now. You could have a mansion and be miserable. I was. I left. Without your mental health, none of that stuff will bring any happiness.
This is definitely an eye opener for me. This is my mother's age range. She's 70 this February. I can only imagine what life has in store for us when we are their age. This Era worked hard and now look at the way they are living. This is just so sad. I hope she is doing well. I've always told my mom when she's ready she will live w/ me. Take care everyone.
I made the same promise to my Mom, and kept it. I wouldn't have been able to if I stayed with the person I first attempted a marriage to. But I was able to escape that relationship and was blessed to meet a worthy man. Thanks to my husband I was able to care for Mom for many years in her own apartment and then when that was no longer possible she moved in with us where I was able to care for her for 5 years until her death at 96 yrs. So if you're not married and think it may be in your future, this is an essential matter to factor in your choice of spouse. 'Sunkissed', you will not regret having your mom with you. My mom and I were like oil and water, and boy was hubby nervous. We had our moments, but I knew that I *had* to get along with her because she *needed* us. And I asked her to be patient with me because I wanted to care for her to the best of my ability and I wouldn't be able to do that if we were not able to get along. And I worked hard to be patient with her. And I prayed to God for grace. Boy dud I pray for grace! And it worked out! We created happy memories, we had difficult times, we prayed together. She got more dependent as her dementia increased and she started believing I was her Mom at times. But hubby and I gave it 100%. You've not asked gor advice, I know, so take what you find helpful in my words, and leave the rest behind. Consider creating relationships now who would be open to being your support group when the time comes fir when you may need it. I had two cousins who each came once a month and gave me a few hours to do what I wanted, and sometimes stayed with her overnight. I also had a friend whom she got to know who would come with treats for her now and then. It made a huge difference. I also attended therapy once a week, over the phone, to help me walk the walk. We created her own space for her at our home years before she moved in and she would have overnights with us just to spend time with us. And when she moved in, she already felt like it was her home too, because she had her own space within it. When Mom passed this summer, my manner of grieving took me by surprise. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I realize now that it is because I walked the end of her life with her 24/7. The last two months I slept on a cot outside her room because she needed 24/7 care. I held her hand, literally and figuratively, walking with her to meet death in a natural, peaceful, manner, at home, with those she loved and who loved her. Hospice care at the end was such a blessing. I only wish we had received it sooner. Most counties and/or states have a senior helpline. Use it. I wish you well for when the time comes when she may need to live with you for any variety of reasons. If you hear 'horror' stories from others who had their parents live with them, take note for precautions but don't let them scare you. Everyone's experiences are different, and yours may be as wonderful, even if difficult, as ours. But I heard your heart in your comment, and with a heart as yours, it will rise above any difficulties you may face. There is so much grace, love and joy that comes with the difficulties of having one's parent(s) live with them. One just needs the openness to receive it. I wish more people were open. Our world would be better off. Whatever the future brings for uou and your mom, I wish you Peace, God's grace, and good fortune.
I've just been having an argument with an American who blames the lady for her situation. When I explained that other countries look are their citizens much better than America, he went off on one saying people shouldn't be helped. It's that attitude that's made the country like it is. My mother is in her 70s, the government pay her rent, as well as other benefits including an equivalent of $1000 per month pension (social security). But he still reckons the US system is the correct one 🤔
@101steel4 if you know that this is promised you and others by the government after a certain age, how compelled are you to put into place plans to be able to take care of yourself, as opposed to spending all your $ for what you currently desire? How compelled are people to to doing what they can to prevent this from being necessary? How many people fo you think will continue yo sacrifice, work hard, choose to save $ and choose to make retirement plans, reserving the govt assistance to those who happened to fall on hard times despite efforts to care for themselves? Now with that stated, blaming this particular woman for her situation is limited thinking, I agree with you. It's a tight rope walk, but one I believe better answered by creating caring communities as opposed to govt dependence. I can go into further detail in future comments if you wish. But govt created assistance creates more of these problems as opposed to resolving the current ones.
I'm 73 still working self employed.Im staying positive and grateful. No family, husband or kids. The Lord provides.I pray for my fellow Seniors, the elderly are forgotten and left aside.I worked from age16.
I agree with you how the elderly, especially working poor and middle-class elderly, are treated in this country. And "some" members of Congress want to increase the retirement age to 70. Well, they should fix our broken healthcare system first so we can have the medical benefits that they do! Many people end up bankrupt or homeless in this country due to medical debt and illness/disability. Please take care of yourself, and I'm sorry that you still have to work and can't enjoy your golden years.
My mom lives with me , she is 89 and Im 50. We live in a 2br apartment. I pay all the rent and utilities, drive a 15yo car, and it takes her ss to pay for in home care so I can keep my job. I will keep my mom with me if it takes multiple jobs as long as I can. It hurts watching what's happening to people and especially our seniors. I know one day I will be in my moms place. ❤
This is extremely depressing. When my mom was a senior, she lived with me. I didn’t even notice how little income she had until I started watching shows about poverty. Which was 18 years after she passed. But a year or two before she passed, she moved into a senior living apartment building that only charged her 30% of her income and no utilities. She moved out to take care of grandchild that went into foster care. It was the first time in her life that she’d ever lived alone once her grandchild got re-homed (because a child can’t live in senior living). It’s so sad that more seniors don’t have an opportunity to have affordable housing. It’s so sad.
She is a trooper. My mom lives in a senior living place. Its in Texarkana Texas so she is making it. If she had to live in a city like Dallas she couldn't make it. We need to help our elderly as much as possible. They deserve it.

Exactly! 500,000 Americans have to file bankruptcy EVERY year just because they can't afford enormous medical bills. That should never happen to supposedly the richest country in the world. This is my first time viewing one of his videos on this channel and was very impressed with this young man's interviewing skills. If I lived in AZ I would love to have him interview me and my living situation as I too am a single senior woman (almost 76) on a low fixed income and also have to ride public transportation. I really enjoyed listening to this man and how kindly and respectfully he treated her. Additionally, I might say that I would love to have her as my neighbor. She knows what matters in life; family and friendships will continue to bring her joy if she continues on with her gracious attitude. I wish her all the best and good health for many years to come. P.S. This video put a smile on my face and also made me more thankful for what I have; you both were a blessing in my life, so thank you very much! 😀

But it's better than living in my car, which I did more than a few times and also the shelters. I just can't afford anything else. Praying this woman and her cute dog can live there in comfort for as long as she needs it.

Wow! This is the second episode that I have seen. Big Super does a wonderful job exposing the challenges that people are living in. This woman worked hard and is barely able to live at this point and time. As America ages, are we preparing our society? I can’t imagine living on 200.00 dollars for food income. What a sweet and kind woman to interview.
This kind, humble woman deserves so much more. To put it into perspective, my mother has a fully paid for three bedroom two bathroom 16x80 trailer home on private property with a low mileage car, every appliance you can imagine, whatnots and pictures hanging from wall to wall and on shelves from end to end, high speed internet, smart tv, laptop computer, a refrigerator and freezer overflowing with food, and is online regularly buying things from eBay and Amazon. She has free health care, social security income of over $1,100 a month, thousands in the bank ( and stashed), plus I provide her additional money when money is available from an old rent property we purchased together. Nevertheless, she is constantly complaining of how terrible her life has turned out and how miserable her life has become, and, of course, that it's all my fault somehow. And now I sit and I watch in amazement as this kind lady expresses great appreciation for everything she has, no matter how little it actually is. She is a good, decent, kind person and deserves all of the things other people far less grateful now have.
Sometimes us old folks think life is horrible, not because we lack material goods, but because life didn't match our expectations...and unfortunately, some of us take it out on the ones we love or trust the most. You are a wonderful child. You are a blessing to her. Don't doubt it.
Time to do a mental health warrant and have her put in a nursing home. Trust me she has dementia, I'm a Caregiver and see the same thing nonstop, I used to question myself but haven't questioned myself in many years now with no regrets...she needs to be put in a nursing home.
Gary Y your mom is so blessed. I'm a 59 year old diabetic lady who was left 8 years ago by my husband of 25 years. I only get 750.00 a month and no one cares to help and I worked hard all my life and all or my children are doing very well but expect me to live on that amount of money. I've already lost both big toes from diabetic infections in bones and I would be so grateful for the situation she's in. God bless you for loving your mom.

Bought a Hud for 42,000 in the early 90's when I was in my 30's. Became disabled just a few years later, was able to sell for a really good price and eventually had a small home built free and clear. Taxes and insurance are very expensive so as a senior I still struggle to keep my head above water. A cap should be placed on all services for seniors on Social Security.
The only “caps” etc. are for the welfare recipients-80+ programs. They pay no sales tax on their food, etc. Everything is geared to keeping them dependent. The government loves dependent citizens and the dependent citizens love being parasites.
Hey Super! I just wanted to tell you that you have a way of talking to people. People open up to you very easily. Sometimes that's all a person needs..is to be heard. You're "people skills" are on point! You should have been a counselor or therapist of some kind. You are a blessing to those you meet, including myself! Thanks for being you!👍
God Bless this lovely Senior. She’s so upbeat in spite of living in a studio apartment with only 200$ after she pays rent. I’m glad she shared her story and I’m glad light is being shed on Seniors and how many of them are being forced to live. Her living space is small but clean and she’s so thankful for just having a roof over her head. Blessings upon blessings to her and her little doggie and my prayer for her is to stay safe, continue being upbeat and I hope a section 8 place she’s comfortable in opens up soon. 💝
All lists for housing are closed in my state. We make do give up much; after years of working pensions go no where and many don't qualify for subsidized Medicaid. It sucks 😕
Aw, she seems like such a sweet and humble lady❤ and the fact that she chose a dog most would not choose, says a lot about what a kind, good natured person she must be 🐶🥰 She seems very content and grateful for what little she has and to be able to just get by with just the necessities. Some people have so much and are greedy and ungrateful, never satisfied or happy. I wish her well and all the best❤
I moved to the U.S. in the 90s and although I absolutely loved living there and the wonderful people, I tried to imagine my future if I became sick, disabled or lost my job and sadly I thought I’d be better off in my home country as a senior and reluctantly left. Good luck to the lady in the video, she is safe, has food and lives within her means and is so positive.
America is the Concrete Serengeti. The weak will die, and the strong will thrive. However, the path the strong walk is extremely narrow, and it only takes one bad step to fall.
Five years ago I could pay my rent and phone bill with my Social Security and still have a few bucks left over. Now that check won't even come close to paying the rent. Big Super always produces a great video.
I'm happy that she's able to have a decent and safe place to live. And it's affordable for her, I only get 1240 a month with SSDI . It's a hard time for people these days, and if you're older or disabled or both.. It's almost impossible to find something that's just half way descent to live in . I pray that she continues to do well.🙏
Thank you sir for enlightening us of our Seniors living situation. I work my butt off with 3 jobs as a nurse, in school full time and supporting my 80 yr old mother to keep her out of this crazy mess our country is in. God bless all of Seniors with safety, food and peace, please.
Bless this sweet woman's heart for making this work. It's far better than living on the street or in a tent city where you never know who or what is there. I'm so glad she's doing ok.
Such a sweet lady . She is a loving soul . She makes the space work for the small amount she has to work with. Few possessions is the key . Nice and clean and tidy. Plus room for her Sweet little Doggy . ☺️🐕
The elderly in America often live quite sad lives. The lady in the video is obviously a very sweet and honest person. My heart breaks for the elderly, especially with the inflation of today exacerbating the problems.

"The American Dream" is exaggerated and overstated. Who decided what "our" dream should be. It's okay to live with less and not indulge in the "more is better" attitude. That's the reason many people are suffering today (Consumerism will be the demise of us all)!
@@latonyalee7821 I absolutely agree. I do believe in some form of capitalism but everyone needs to calm down, be more patient and understanding, and less selfish.
@@latonyalee7821 I don't see anything wrong with her apartment, and agree with you. She has adequate living. She's not on the street, has utilities, facilities to wash. Additionally, people make choices to remain in areas unaffordable. On a fixed income she's better than those tied to a state for employment. She can move to another location and live proportionably "better".
My Mom worked her entire life, 2 and 3 jobs to raise my brother and I. When she received her SS and Medicare she had a 1 bedroom apartment. She lived there for 31 years. Her SS only covered her rent and a few groceries. My brother and I paid her utilities, cable, cellphone, groceries, gas, car insurance, life insurance and all clothes, gasoline, dog food any extras. We took care of her for years. I understand exactly what this lady is saying. When they were taking money out of my Mom’s checks for SS a dollar was worth a dollar. Now when they gave it back to her a dollar is worth 47 cents!!! Madness. Mom has been gone for 4 years and we had to pay some of her funeral expenses. That’s fine, she took care of us for years.
May God bless you and your brother for rising up to help your mother the way you did. It's our responsibility to make the load lighter for them. Thanks for sharing.
It's so sad. In my country the unemployed/seniors get a separate benefit that pays the rent. You wouldn't be expected to pay it from your own pocket. Because as you mentioned, you'd have barely anything left if you did.
My 4 son's don't understand this. They think I must be foolish with my social security check. I don't have enough for food $39.00 food stamps is not enough. I can't stand in food bank lines and carry heavy bags of food. I can hardly walk.
Terry is a sweet humble person. I am happy she is safe and secure and has a daughter. So many people don't have anything. It is so true you learn to adapt and get only what you need. Having internet for her fire stick made her so happy. I wish her well and hope 2023 is a great year for her.
I couldn't help tearing up watching this. This sweet lady and her adorable disabled doggie are reasonably safe, content and grateful in this tiny SECOND FLOOR apartment (a first floor apartment probably costs more!). At least she's not living out of her car, like a LOT of senior Arizonans are forced to do, but she's got to give up the expense of owning a car to keep affording her rent! I don't understand why our government can't do more. Is it too much to ask that there be a rent cap on housing for low-income people 60 or over? Thank you, Big Super, for opening our eyes to what's really going on here in Arizona. This is NOT the place to come to retire, that's for sure.
@@eckankar7756 she like many people lived in a mobile home in an excellent situation. On her sisters property. However, other people worked hard and purchased mobile homes in RV parks but have found themselves in dire straits because the Parks are being sold by Mom & Pop owners and bought up by large commercial management companies, who immediately raise the lot fees. Unfortunately, the owners cannot move the Mobile homes/RV's because parks will not take the older models. Many Seniors are caught between a rock and the homeless tent city. 😢
@@evaallen9728 the 55+ park in my neighborhood that I wanted to get into raised it's lot rents from $650 a month to $1050 a month. That plus the price of buying the home on the lot is too expensive for most seniors. And no guarantee that the lot rents won't go up next year a big amount.
This place seems to be run like an apartment complex and is well maintained and offers plenty of amenities, so aside from it being so small, it's not the worst place to be. I'm sure ppl in other places live much worse. Good bless this woman
My daughter lived in this place with her truck driver boyfriend. I've personally been there. It's not an awful place. It's in a safe area, although there's not much business around there. The average 1 bdrm apartment in the Phoenix area is 1500+ per month.
I agree, based on what I've seen elsewhere I'm not seeing the shock factor. I expected the pool to be either empty with cracked cement or super dark green..but it wasn't. She feels safe there, she likes her neighbors, she has Internet, cable, garbage pick up included. The laundry room is huge! It could be a whole lot worse.
I know this is a tough way to go, but, her attitude is everything. She could be focusing on all the things she does not have, instead she finds gratitude in what she has. We can all learn a lesson from this wonderful womans attitude.
I’m 72 and live in Hawaii, one of the most expensive states in the US. I was fortunate enough and I was married to buy a small house in the country. It’s not the country anymore but the house is worth eight times more than I paid for it. I only get $800 in Social Security because I raised my four children and didn’t work until they were out of high school. I’m able to survive because the rent on my own house would be more than my whole Income. I would be afraid to live where this lady lives because of what the man said about them letting convicts in. I pray she gets safer housing soon.

Mom had about $700 a month income from disability, and dad got around $600 a month from Social Security. Workers deserve better.
not to mention she also has a dog! pet is expensive. I would like to know too.
Sadly workers are expendable, corporations treat them as expendable, as does the federal government.

It's not a good life, but you try to do the best you can.❤
God bless you!!!
Our best is all we can do. God Bless you 🙏
I pray you win the lottery.
Shameful! There should rental assistance!

True. Doesnt change the fact that the wolf is at the door.
Corporate Greed..
😇❤

I agree with you how the elderly, especially working poor and middle-class elderly, are treated in this country. And "some" members of Congress want to increase the retirement age to 70.

Yeah I even wrote the President about that and they just passed the buck saying they have no control over that. smh and praying
Contact your county assessors office and inquire about a tax break for seniors as they do exist.
Hey Super! I just wanted to tell you that you have a way of talking to people. People open up to you very easily. Sometimes that's all a person needs..is to be heard. You're "people skills" are on point! You should have been a counselor or therapist of some kind. You are a blessing to those you meet, including myself! Thanks for being you!👍
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
Good luck to the lady in the video, she is safe, has food and lives within her means and is so positive.
what is your home country? I was wondering about how it might be better to retire in another country
@@byhislove Australia
@@gatewayz75 A lot of people say that...I had a few Australian roommates who were a blast!
America is the Concrete Serengeti. The weak will die, and the strong will thrive. However, the path the strong walk is extremely narrow, and it only takes one bad step to fall.
@@gatewayz75 YOU CAN DO A JOB THERE AND BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY? or plan to retire on their tax funds?
Five years ago I could pay my rent and phone bill with my Social Security and still have a few bucks left over.
Now that check won't even come close to paying the rent.
Big Super always produces a great video.
I'm happy that she's able to have a decent and safe place to live. And it's affordable for her, I only get 1240 a month with SSDI . It's a hard time for people these days, and if you're older or disabled or both.. It's almost impossible to find something that's just half way descent to live in . I pray that she continues to do well.🙏
This lady has such a bright outlook on life bless you and may you continue to thrive
Thanks for conducting this interview with this nice lady. You did a great job!
The elderly in America often live quite sad lives. The lady in the video is obviously a very sweet and honest person. My heart breaks for the elderly, especially with the inflation of today exacerbating the problems.
If they are single they should try a roommate situation.
18 Large White Eggs at the Grocery Store Today = 1-17-23 = $7.49 + Tax.
Best wishes to this sweet woman. I'm 65 and it's a struggle...we do need a better way for seniors... pumpkin so cute!
This is awful! My house payment is $700 per month. Our country is cruel to our seniors. She adopted Pumpkin that little disabled dog. She is a kind and intelligent lady.
My heart bleeds for Terri, the american dream bypasses 98% of Americans who live a nightmare, what's happening is a disgrace.
Our government hands all of our hard earned tax money out to illegals, instead of helping our own.
I don't get it. What's wrong with her apartment?
@@latonyalee7821 I don't see anything wrong with her apartment, and agree with you. She has adequate living. She's not on the street, has utilities, facilities to wash. Additionally, people make choices to remain in areas unaffordable. On a fixed income she's better than those tied to a state for employment. She can move to another location and live proportionably "better".
She seems so grateful for what she has. So many in this country have so much less. God Bless her.
Bless you all.
Dollars have gone.down much more than that
My 4 son's don't understand this. They think I must be foolish with my social security check. I don't have enough for food $39.00 food stamps is not enough. I can't stand in food bank lines and carry heavy bags of food. I can hardly walk.
This lady's sense of gratitude is so lovely to witness..she's such a warm Soul...I wish her many Blessings!
Quartzite, AZ has some mobile home/tv parks for $300 a month - that is the cheapest option I have seen.
@@grlygirl1264 Exactly. I'm like where is the "shocking" we were promised?
@@PapagenoMF agreed, this place looks nice 👍
And she likes it why are people trying to make her feel bad for where she lives.
It is very expensive .
Good luck lady, you are doing a great job taking care of yourself, I wish you the best!
I know this is a tough way to go, but, her attitude is everything. She could be focusing on all the things she does not have, instead she finds gratitude in what she has. We can all learn a lesson from this wonderful womans attitude.
I agree 100%
Yes what a great attitude,at least she has a roof over her head and bare necessities ♥️
God bless this lady. I pray she get her section 8 asap! And she needs to keep her vehicle God's will.🙏❤️
I’m 72 and live in Hawaii, one of the most expensive states in the US.
She's better off not living there if convicts are moving nearby. A woman alone is a sitting target.
bless this sweet lady, she seems grateful despite the situation she's in.
Seems like a humble and kind person. If I was rich, I would help people like her.
I agree One gets so tired of the rich moaning and wailing about how victimized they are Why don't they do some good with all their money and for one moment stop feeling sorry for themselves or if they are that miserable give it away!
