Thank you for the kind words! My advice is to always start with smaller projects and build into bigger ones like this you'll gain confidence and understanding and learn a lot which and in turn will make jobs like this not seem as daunting! I always appreciate people who learn to do the work themselves!
Hi, great set of vids for the rebuild thanks. What is your engine bed in you recommend to your customers for rebuilt engines please? I'm just taken out my fa20 out a 2014 forester to rebuild .... Thanks for any info
This series was amazing, I have a 2021 WRX and this helped me understand my engine alot better for how it all goes together etc! I have torn apart the top to clean all the carbon with a walnut blaster etc, you used zipties, may try that next time haha definitely not at messy as the walnut shells. This is a big fear of mine having this car.... so because of that I do have a few questions if you ever see my comment! First - how long approx did this take you? (hours or days etc) Second - about how much $$ was this rebuild minus the cost of a new block (which im guessing was about $2300)? Third - where did you get those engine instructions and torque specs? (I only ask because I have had to guess all my torque specs for almost everything I do on the car since subaru wont tell me them and act clueless when I ask) I hope that you get to my questions and thanks for an awesome series! PS-- you should do a series engine swapping the FA engine and putting in a FB engine into the VA 2015-2021 because a few have done it but there is no video like yours!!
Thanks you I appreciate it! Time wise it's hard to calculate because I'd work on it for a little bit after work each day, and filming for youtube adds more time for everything. Haha If I had all the parts that I needed and I worked without stopping I could do it in a day and a half tops excluding time for the heads being resurfaced. honestly can't remember. It's my buddies car and he covered parts cost but best guess is under 1k in parts if you don't include the block. I got all the instructions from All Data. I work at a car dealer so I was able to print the instructions. I'm glad you enjoyed the series. It was a definitely a fun one to make. And maybe some day I'll do that swap. Right now I don't have a financial ability to do something like that. Maybe someday though!
@@Fix_it_Garage appreciate it! Is there any way you could post a file or send me the instructions you used by any chance? Or for the Alldata I just have to pay for it or do I have to be a dealer to access that? Do they have instructions for if you were keep the block and how to install the rods etc? Didn’t know if it would be worth beefing up the rods or keep the oem ones?
@dailydrivenmedia_ I think anyone can buy all data but im not sure on that one. All data has All the subaru directions. They literally like cope and paste the factory directions into there program so people other then dealer techs can see and use it. I currently don't pay for it myself because I work for a dealership that does. But when I finally make enough money to go youtube full time I'll be buying all data for myself. Comes in handy with instructions and specs
The timelapse of getting the engine mated to the transmission lmao. Same way I do it, only I break down crying a couple times too.
Lmao too true 😢
Who said I wasn't underneath the car crying while putting the motor in? 🤣🤣
I can confirm he was actually under the car crying
Thank you so much for documenting this rebuild. Maybe someday ill have what it takes to fix my own when it breaks. Hats off to you sir 🎩
