VW Golf GTI Trailer Hitch Install?!?
Welcome Back! Today I will be installing a trailer hitch on my buddies MK7 Golf GTI. Why? so he can carry his bikes with in and not take them in the car. Why not a roof rack? Well it was more expensive and would require more work to his bike. This is a bit of a strange video, but I wanted to show you something practical for a VW GTI. Enjoy and see you all again soon!

    Bought an ‘05 EX (almost) base, no sunroof. Noticed some water pooling in a hole worn where the previous owner’s sweet spot was in the driver floorboard. I never knew hondas were so easy to work on. Thanks for the video dude

      Its a draw tite. Side note we found during a long drive the exhaust will melt the tire so remove the wheels if you run this system.

    I am currently in the process of installing a pair of IMR catless primaries. When I was removing the cats we ended up stripping the upper inside stud on the passenger side. The flange threads were fine but needed to chase them to clean the studs threads out, when doing so I busted the tap inside the flange, I pulled the passenger side engine mount nut and the coolant lines. It opened it up nicely. Honestly, I thought I might have to pull the engine to pull the turbo, because of that nut in behind the turbo. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.

    How many miles for just the timing chain? I heard you say 100,000 for the water pump, but is that really needed? The vehicle looks like a 2003.

    • @Fix_it_Garage
      @Fix_it_Garage 25 днів тому

      @royhi1809 its an 03 and it was at about 150k when I did the work. Timing chains don't have a service mileage listed for honda. However if your over 100k and your already doing a timing cover reseal I recommend having a good hard look at the chain. I did the chain for content and happened to get lucky and catch the chain as it was starting to stretch. Water pumps have no service interval either. However lots of brand recommend doing the water pump with a timing belt and that's around 100k. So I think it's a good idea to do water pumps in timing Chain cars around that same mileage as well. It's just a personal preference thing.

    Hey so far i took off the head my moms car has about 220k miles on it I was wondering if you think it's worth replacing the rings and cleaning everything. I'm a little scared cause i don't know what rings to buy they have standard and oversized and i don't know the difference

    • @Fix_it_Garage
      @Fix_it_Garage 27 днів тому

      If you were not having some piston slap issues I wouldn't spend the time replacing the rings. Unless the engine has been bored out you'd use standard size rings.

    • @JA-rc4uy
      @JA-rc4uy 5 днів тому

      Piston slap is not the only reason to replace piston rings. Excessive piston blow-by, excessive oil consumption and seized piston rings are a few other reasons. There are other symptoms that could be caused by worn rings, but these are just a few.

    I did mine on jackstands. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. My issue was putting the drivers side hi flow cat on. Had someone help guide it from the top of the engine bay and it was easy after that. If you have the right tools it’s not bad. Please soak the turbo studs in KROIL for 24 hours then another hour before working. And use anti-seize on the studs before installing the new pipes

    My O6 CRV 220k miles wouldn't start with spark and pressure at the injectors. It was running fine but wouldnt start after I parked for a week. Injectors work and exhaust in not plugged. Replaced fuel pump and checked relays and fuses. Spark might be slightly week. Chain is slightly stretched ~1 to 1.5 teeth. No engine lights or funny noises (except for a high pitched whine at high RPM for the past 1+ years). Could this be a timing issue? Anything else to check?

    Chain was stretched, engine out of time. Did you put it back to time by rotating the crankshaft with the two cams locked? Or do you first align the crankshaft and then rotate the cams to align the two marks? Hardest part nobody explains well

    • @Fix_it_Garage
      @Fix_it_Garage Місяць тому

      What I did is got it close then pulled the chain off. Then rotated the crank into time there's a mark on the engine block for doing that. Then I set the cam timing and locked it in. Once the chain is off its real easy to set everything back into time

      @rsixsta both accurate comments. So the reason why is because I couldn't get the parts in time for filming from the dealer I work for outside if youtube. I also wanted to save those for a separate video of work on the car that's coming soon. But you are correct normally I would do a VTC strainer and vtec solenoid gasket when I do a timing cover

The cloyes tensioner didn't move after pulling the pin and I had to activate it manually. The cloyes chain stretched 1/8 inch within 400 miles.
