    Great video attention to detail. Thx for taking the time to explain all the little details. Thanks for sharing your pearls (tip and tricks). Not sure why the aftermarket plastic hose nipples are not oriented in the right direction. I had to use the old pieces so they are orientated in the right direction. I also had a hard time finding a pump with the pulley attached and the right orientated plastic nipples. I ordered some extra o-rings, always better to have extras just in case they zip off as you put them on. Worked on Honda CRV 2007, 2.4 lit with 240,000 miles ( trying to break 300,000). Still running strong.

    What size of engine does this have, can you supercharge, or turbo it or both and you can chip these right? And how much does that lift cost, like pretty interested in these I'm a Ford guy but these are unique on the lift game

    • @Fix_it_Garage
      @Fix_it_Garage 14 днів тому

      @atomthegreat541 it's a 3.5 v6. The older v6 honda you could add forced induction. I'm not sure on these new direct injectors motors. I think the lifts retail for just under 600 in parts. It's not super difficult to install either.

    Its a shame so many car manufacturers made that stuf out of plastic. Had a 2010 f150 with a 4.6l had to replace the intake because it had the same design on the intake but a aluminum thermostat housing and cross over tube. Replaced it with a upgraded amazon intake for under 200 but have seen that so many rimes especially with Chrysler a frends minivan had a bunch of plastic heater hose parts i kept replacing them with pex brass fittings those never leaked again lol and even replaced the thermostat neck that was plastic all in a 3 year period finely something under the intake started leaking coolant could have been the intake but i couldn't do much at the time had heart surgery back in February and thus was last spring she finally killed it but it was on its last legs lol love your videos found this looking for the ej22 build yourube is a pain sometimes lol

  • @stevenoe6395

    Great videos!!! I have a question i thought the center head bolts had a different finel torque than the outer ones i could be wrong just wanted to make sure have a 96 ej22 i put a timing belt set and water pump on then after getting it together it started running hot so checked for exhaust gas in the coolant and after over a hour contaminating the first 2 test lol i finally got it hot enough to get it circulating for the chemical to turn yellow. I was hoping there was still a bubble in it but only had heat when i reved it up and the temp would drop never got super hi i would shut it off but also thinking the temp sensor might be bad using a laser temp i couldn't find anything on the engine over 220 except next to the exhaust. The water coming back in was 140 to 200 but coming back out of the radiator was around 60 but spent a few hours with one of the funnel kits to burp them before i even got rhe test kit. Ordered all the seals im stuck doing it in the car outside i dont have a stand or a good place to put the engine unfortunately and having to do it the cheapest way possible so resurfacing the heads my self the old floor sanding sheets on a 18x18 porcelain tile going to use a strait edge and fealer gauge also lol

    • @Fix_it_Garage
      @Fix_it_Garage Місяць тому

      They do have a different final torque then the outers. I made this video quite awhile ago and I honestly can't remember if I covered that but yes the inners are different if your using factory headbolts. I totally understand doing it on the cheap. Gotta do what you gotta do to get the cat running. I looked at the torque spec on Google when I rebuilt this one. I've heard stories about floor sanding sheets on a tile for resurfacing the head. Just go slow and you got this!

      @Fix_it_Garage yea definitely I was hoping the hg would last until I could afford to do a duel cam head swap but this is the first Subaru I have tore into so it will be good practice I would rather screw up on mine before I have to do this stuff on my son's 08 legacy but wow the timing belt went so well just sucks that I'm having to do the hg now. Lol thanks for the reply think your the first response I have gotten on a older video been doing a lot of research on this so I can get it back up different than what I'm used to doing plus been over 20 years since I have tour down anything this far feels good have a good one!!!!!

    I feel like labeling them is unnecessary. What happens if I need a new piston? Will it not fit because it wasn’t the original? But new pistons will fit just fine given the cylinder is not severely out of spec.

    • @Fix_it_Garage
      @Fix_it_Garage Місяць тому

      I'm not labeling it so the pistons goes in the same hole. I label the pistons so the connecting rod bearings go in the same hole the bearings are different on each cylinder and i don't want to accidentally cross them. So. I label the piston in this case because itt was easier. Usually I mark the rod with the cylinder number but it was easier to mark the pistons this time since i wasn't replacing them. I usually label the rod and cap so they go back together correctly since honda uses fracture rods

      @mrwnking correct. What i usually do is i set cylinder one just before TDC that way there's no chance of touching valve to piston. Then I put the heads on get the cams mostly times roll the engine back to cylinder 1 TDC and install the belt and check it like 1000 times before I rotate it over. And I rotate it multiple times to verify the timing is right. There's lots of manuals and photos of what the correct timing is when installing the belt
