  • Has your headlight gone out on your 2003 Maxima? What bulb do you need? Can you replace it yourself? The quick answer is that if you have standard low beam headlights, it's an H1. If you have HID, it's D2R. Don't know? Your Nissan dealer can tell you with just a few numbers from your VIN. But aren't HIDs expensive? Not necessarily, but it will be if you have the dealership replace them. Can you do it yourself? Absolutely. Watch on and learn.

If you don't want to remove the entire headlight, you can remove that battery and get enough room to get to the bulb. Other then that super helpful video!

Thanks for great video. Looks a lot easier than I thought. I was able to get a pair of Hella D2R's from Rock Auto for about $55. I work for Napa and even I can't get them that cheap. I cringe every time we sell them to a retail or wholesale customer.

Cool. It really is easy and safe, although dealerships will say that you can't change them yourself.

This is similar to my '03 nissan altima. The 3.5L SE uses the same bulb. You just have to remove the radiator overflow, just set it to the side, then pullout the washer fluid stem. It's a pain getting to it still, but I didn't need to remove the whole headlight, the driver side you just remove some of the airflow out of the way too. I made the mistake of thinking I needed the bulb connected as I put the clips and all that in place. I don't what I was thinking. I should just do what you did, put the bulb in first, clip it, then attach the electric power source to the back of the bulb. These things can be such a pain, but yhis video helps.

I converted mine to led cost me $100 but it's worth it. The high beam I run f 16 auxbeam bulbs. This set up is perfect.
On amazon look up dzg led for the 03 maxima with the coupon it gives it is $72. The lights are worth it I promise. I've had them in since early november and no issues one bit.

@@tobincharles8651 there's many different things you can do to clean up your lights. Some are quick fixes and some require more effort. I would just search on UA-cam and find a way that works for you.

I've seen Nissan OEM HID bulbs on ebay for a decent price, but here's what I bought; anything like this should be fine: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MZWM4K4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    • @vfxtutswithdan1893

@@louismadruga6872 I don't think so. Each bulb needs its own ballast, so there's not room for more than that. The high beams are standard bulbs. I've never heard of HIDs for fog lights.
