Thank you so much for this video. I just wanted to tell you by watching your other video on the heater core heater tubes. I was able to take out the heater core without taking out the dashboard. By taking out both heater core tubes and flipping them around the heater core slides out easily. There is a plastic strap between the heater core tubes. I had to snap it off because I could not get to the one screw. But on installation of the heater core and heater core tubes, it holds in very well. You do have to take out the heater core tubes first. Thank you very much.
Snap-on CTS561. Out of all my tools, this is my absolute favorite purchase. You don't really appreciate your need for it until you see how much time you save taking apart interiors, underbody splash shields, etc.
The point of this is to replace the evaporator, because it has a leak or is plugged up (or the TXV doesn't work). The evaporator is a heat exchanger, when the AC is on it moves the heat from the air inside the vehicle into the refrigerant, making the air cooler. It basically acts as the opposite of the heater core.
Either my evaporator or TXV was bad, I never got too far into it (AC is not my strong suit). The condenser is in front of the radiator, there's no need to replace the evaporator unless you're replacing the condenser because you've had a compressor failure, in which case I'd highly recommend evaporator replacement at the same time.
Not likely - labor time on a '99 Taurus shows 5.2 hours (+.5 w/ center console), plus evac/recharge. SI shows to remove the dash, not having done it myself, can't say whether or not it's absolutely necessary. For reference, the evaporator core on this Maxima pays 2.8.
Why did u remove n replace it? N wat does the evap box do i am planning to replace my condenser trying figure out if i have to mess with there box too?
What year? Assuming the R50 ('96-'04) body (which shares many of the same interior parts as the 4th gen Maxima), it shows .8 to replace (plus evac/recharge), so it should be extremely easy to replace.
Hey I have a 1995 maxima SE. I never had my filters changed. Do I need to remove the evaporator to change the filters?? How do you change the filters?? Thanks for you time.

Thanks for the video. Going to replace the expansion valve in a 2001 Maxima. Looks doable, I hate working on things under the dash.

Brilliant idea to clip that piece off. Sure better than spending 2 days removing/replacing dash!

Excellent video! Have you ever changed out an evaporator on a Subaru Forester?
Thanks for posting!
Snap On CTS561. Just a cordless screwdriver, not an impact. I also have a CT561, which is a 1/4" impact, works very well for dash and underhood work.
If you're referring to a cabin air filter, there is no such thing on the 4th gen Maxima.

Not yet, but I chose at random an '02 Forester, and it shows basically the same procedure; remove glove box, R&R evaporator case. Pays 1.4
Great video man, I have an Altima 2000, the book says I have to remove the heater unit in order to remove the evaporator, is this true>?

According to the FSM, you don't have to remove the heater core or housing. I've not seen one myself, personally.
Not a mouse, appears to be torn insulation up against the firewall. Likely from the first time I pulled the ECU and harness.
wow you actually scared me lol.... you the master of this car... my heat isn't working..gonna try to flush the core first i guess
+jesus Zavala I did mine for my 96 Maxima. It is not that bad. I recommend to flush it and get an OEM heater core.

What cordless screw driver are you using? I like how compact and powerful it is, is it also an impact drill?
Any Vids on Heater Core fix or replacement?
+jesus Zavala Not yet, and honestly I hope I don't have to do that repair.
I have a pathfinder, These interiors look very similar, do you think it's similar procedure on a pathfinder or is it more complicated?
Thank you
you have Mechanic hands 😂😂😂😂
