  • Hubert Gregg presented "Thanks For The Memory" from 1970 until his death in 2004 at the age of 89. This BBC Radio 2 weekly half-hour programme was a nostalgic look back to music from the 1920s onwards, with personal reminisces of the artists by Gregg, who had been an actor and songwriter. His style was old world. A week was a "sennight", a CD was a "shaving mirror" and Radio 2 was "Wireless Two".
This example was broadcast on 1st August 2003 and features the following recordings:
    1. It's A Grand Night For Singing - Dick Haymes
    2. Comedy sketch - George Burns & Gracie Allen
    3. Goodbye, Little Dream, Goodbye - Douglas Fairbanks Jnr
    4. 1958 Interview & "Let Me Give My Happiness To You" - Jessie Matthews
    5. Paris Je T'aime - Maurice Chevallier with Leo Clarens et son orchestre
    6. If I Hadn't Got A Sentimental Heart - Hubert Gregg
    7. Tea For Two - Art Tatum 8. It's A Lovely Day Tomorrow - Al Bowlly
With thanks to subscriber Neil for details of the Maurice Chevalier recording.
