  • Sam Costa - Saturday 3rd September 1977
The programme originally ran from 10:02 to Midday, and this is an edited version as it was recorded on a C60 cassette tape and during the broadcast certain parts were shortened or cut out, unfortunately.
    Artists featured are:
    Patti Sommers (Guest Singer)
    Cyril Ornadel and his Orchestra
The Northern Radio Orchestra under the direction of Brian Fitzgerald
    The Yetties
BBC Northern Ireland Orchestra directed by Ernest Tomlinson
BBC Midland Orchestra directed by Norrie Paramor; trumpet soloist: Roger Siviter
    Anne Shelton
    Johnny Douglas Orchestra
Sam was a DJ in his later years, but back in the 1930s was a dance band singer with Sam Costa, Maurice Winnick, Jay Wilbur and others. Later he launched into comedy as part of the popular radio comedy show, Much Binding In The Marsh.

I used to quite enjoy Sam's Saturday show. Odd to think that just a year before he was still doing the daily teatime/drive show. This is one of Sam's last Saturday shows as Teddy Johnson took over the slot a month later. The theme tune is Tak-Takata by Paul Mauriat
