Love your tours of the garden all so beautiful and well grown. The hb08 is my favorite, so stunning. Wish it was easier to trade between AUS and USA.

Thanks very much! Appreciate it. The HB08 is also my favourite for now haha. Yes would be a lot more fun for everyone if we could all trade no problem.

Always super interesting to see what people in other parts of the world choose to grow.
I'm personally really into melocactus (I love how their cephalium look like little hats), but they are really hard to get ahold of especially making sure they weren't illegally harvested.
There is a really big issue with cacti poaching unfortunately 😢

Yea it is always cool to see the variety. Shame that's an actual worry there. Best way to beat that is to grow from seed if you can or buy from a reputable seller.

@@CurtsCactus indeed! Unfortunately, I think they are kind of an intermediate to advanced level cacti due to very specific substrate requirements. I'll get there one day! I am growing on my first set of seedlings from my own seed right now... so if I don't kill those, I'll consider a good sign.

Have herd root bound ones are more likely to express mutant dna, like bridgii Montrose that looks like a pener if you plant them strate in the ground they tend revert back. Big ups from nz nice collection budy.

Hmm well I've got 4 of those TBM in the ground and they still pup out like usual. I personally couldn't see this having an effect but it would be interesting to look into.

Do you think that they're simultaneously mutating due to an environmental stimulus? Such as changes in temperature (seasonality), light exposure, or odd weather event? I know Agaves tend to throw their flower stock under similar circumstances - regardless the age of the plant.

Honestly I do not know. But it does seem to usually be at the start of the growing season. And also just seems to be that the plant knows what arms it has and obviously communicates through the entire plant. And maybe it's not necessarily the tip that is deciding what comes next in terms of mutated growth but the entire plant decides that. Possibly.
