Sublimating Frosted Glass "Can" in Tumbler Press

- It would seem that in a rare moment for me, I've jumped on a happening "thing" in the Tumbler Community -- the Frosted Glass Can Sublimation Tumbler. Sure! Why not?! Especially since I want to see how it goes using my tumbler press. I absolutely love the results, and the stainless steel gods weren't too pissed off at me.

I love Swirls! Mostly swirls of color, but really any swirls at all - I think they add a beauty and grace to everything. So after I started making soap a few years ago, and needing some sort of biz name that didn't sound like everyone else's version of suds-r-us, I decided on Luxinda Swirl. Luxinda is a twist on my real name, and I quickly started putting swirls of color in all of my handmade soaps.
Now I'm branching out a bit, and I want to keep adding swirls to everything I do!
These frosted glasses are so 😎 (and they also come in clear glass) and super easy to sublimate in a press or an oven. However, I have heard that some tumbler makers are having real trouble selling them because they’re (a) glass and (b) not able to keep drinks hot or cold like double-walled stainless. Any thoughts either way? Have you sold these? Would you consider purchasing one?
I wondered how they held up to heat/cold. They look cool though.
@@jerrihayes1766 when I started reading that this was an issue, my first thought was, “Doesn’t everyone drink out of glasses?” But I guess folks who buy tumblers are already fans of the stainless double-wall vacuum type of cup and don’t particularly want to go backwards… which makes sense.
I make these and other styles of glass. I market them for iced coffee
@@christyboteo1284 excellent!!! Yes, I can see iced coffee being a great use. For some reason - maybe because of the colors - I was focused more on lemonade and other fruity drinks, but iced coffee is a great target market. Thank you!!
Love the gnome decal! I’ve become invested in seeing a certain trial on tv and have missed any other videos with this style of glass. I really like the frosted look! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you!! I know Courtney’s Customs just did one, and she sublimated hers in an oven, and I guess most of the popularity is happening over on tiktok, which I don’t watch as much.
I think a lot of people would buy these cups. The price point would be the issue though. It is also my personal opinion that sublimation is awesome, but it's just not the same as the hand-made tumblers. I do both, but making tumblers is still my fave. That said, I think these would make cool gifts for friends, family, teachers, etc. Love your work!!
Thank you!! Sublimation is definitely a different animal than resin tumblers - I enjoy the relative ease of sublimation and the more creative aspect of making a resin tumbler. I do love these jars and they’ve made great gifts so far. I haven’t actually tried selling them but maybe I will once summer comes around. They seem well suited to iced drinks in the summertime 😊😊🍹🧉
Love this! Can't wait to see what you have in store for that gorgeous blue one!
👏 💜💜💜
Thank you!! I’m thinking water related🤔😁 🌊
That is Adorable!! I love it! 💙
Thank you so much!!😊
I love these. My daughter in law sells blanks. I guess after watching how easy you made it look I will have to try it. They are so beautiful.
Thank you! Oh, definitely!!
I loved the hot diggedy! So fun when something works! LOL
Thank you!! 😁😁
That turned out Gorgeous
Thank you!!! 😊
You're a genius!!!!!!
Lol! Hardly, but I very much appreciate the comment 🥰🥰🥰
I love love love it! So pretty!
Thanks very much!! 😊
This is so cool!! If it means anything, you’re the first person I’ve seen do this. I think I wanna do it too!! Looks amazing!
Thank you!!! I guess it’s going around more on TikTok so far than on UA-cam. I have seen Courtney’s Customs make one using an oven instead of a press.
I Love It! I was thinking about ordering some
Thank you!!😊😊
Love Ava Janes! Great products and customer service. The frosted are my favorite but have to be careful cause you can scratch the frost. I haven't done it yet but there have been people that have subed the lid!!! Thats my next experiment. Beautiful as always ❤
Thank you!! Yes, I’d read somewhere about the possible scratching, so I was trying to be as careful as I could while recording the video. Luckily no scratches happened 🥳 I have seen one sublimated lid, but wasn’t sure how to go about that. Thanks for the info!
Can't wait to see more of these
Thank you!!
Good Morning ☀️ Pretty Lady 😊🌻that is so adorable😍love the bamboo glasses but I can’t touch them🫣anything frosted gives me heebeegeebee’s when I touch it lol 😂🙃🤭
Thank you! That’s interesting - it definitely is an odd texture! There are also clear glass sublimatable versions.
They are super adorbs. Love it 🥰 stay blessed 🙏🏽
Thank you!!😊
Dang! That was cool! I might have to buy the sublimation crap. 😒 Luv ya ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🌈🌟
Thank you!! LOL! 😁
That came out so cute. I've seen people use the vinyl on them that is temp color change. These are making me want to give sublimation a try. I'm partial to my tumblers because they don't sweat with cold liquids and they do keep things cold/hot longer than a mug or glass. These are a nice alternative for those who would just like to have something more classic looking. They would definitely look nice on your summer picnic table. Just a thought.
Thank you!! I have to admit (and maybe it's just because of my age), the look of a summer drink to me is a frosty glass with condensation from the iced beverage - LOL! It's almost like if I can't see the glass sweating, I'm not convinced there's really iced tea or lemonade or whatever in there 🙄😁 Dorky, I know... I hadn't thought about the temp-sensitive vinyl. That's a cool idea, although I'd be concerned it might start to peel after awhile. But I've never tried it, so I don't know.
Love this gotta get some glass tumblers. Thank you
Thank you so much!😊
Very pretty. I don't know how I missed this one, but didn't see it until today.
Thanks!!! 😊
Turned out awesome!!
Thank you!!!
OMG I LOVE IT!
Thank you very much!!! 😊😊
See these I love, regular sub tumblers are just meh... but these have been really making me want to make the jump! This is adorable!
I hear ya - these are so cute, plus there’s sublimation onto flat objects and clothing, and you already have a heat press.
LOVE the way this turned out! Very cute!! As to your questions, I would not use one bc I live in the south and HAVE to have ice in my water or tea, so then it will sweat all over the outside of the glass. I pretty much only use an RTIC 30 oz plain tumbler on the daily, even though I make tumblers. Just like when I was making jewelry for over a decade, but I would rarely wear it bc I'm just a "plain Jane"! LOL!
Thank you!! Yes, I do understand 🧊🍹☀️
It’s beautiful. I love it!!! 🌻🌻🌻🌻❤️
Thank you!!! 😊
😍
Love it❤️
Thank you!!
That is SO cute! Do you have to seal it with anything or is it durable?
Thank you!! No, it’s good to go, which is another plus. I have read folks saying it even holds up to dishwashing, although I haven’t tested that yet.
Very cute, but for me I probably would not purchase because I can sometimes be a bit of a klutz and break the glass. I am a stainless cup user primarily.
Thank you! I hear that - I've certainly knocked over and broken more than my share of glasses over the years 😬😁
Have you considered making a Facebook group? I think it would be a fun place for us all to share projects you inspired us ❤
Thank you!! I’ve definitely thought about it, but have been unsure if there’s really enough interest or if I will be available enough to support something like that. Maybe I’ll put up a community tab poll and see what everyone thinks. Thank you for the suggestion!!
This makes me want to jump on the wagon too! Do you put any kind of top coat or anything?
Thanks - you should give it a shot! No, the sublimated image has basically seeped into the substrate layer (as I understand it), so nothing is needed over top, which makes it even more appealing as a very quick and simple project.
Love this turned out great may I ask you what printer you have - looking to buy a sublimation printer & love your decal
Thank you!! I have an Epson F170 sub printer. I haven’t used it all that much, but so far, it’s been great 😊
This is where I got it:
aaprintsupplyco.com/products/epson-surecolor-f170-dye-sublimation-printer
I'm thinking about buying another eco tank to convert to a sub... but I'm still on the fence!
@@RaesTurquoiseTurtle that’s a great alternative - they’re good printers in general. I didn’t trust myself to convert correctly, so I basically let Epson do it for me 🙄😁, but clearly the conversion of an eco-tank is the most popular way to get into sublimation printing.
love the video..may I ask where you got the design ? thank you for all your work
Thank you!! Sunflower Gnome artwork: www.etsy.com/listing/1045671675
Oh, I love this. How hard do you think it would be to do the heat gun method?
Thank you!! Hmmmm, I’ve never tried that method, but with a single graphic like I used, it would probably work quite well. If you try it, let me know!!
@@Luxinda I'll have to see if I can find any of these. I've done one full wrapped tumbler with the heat gun and it had... issues. But I think with a smaller graphic it might be good?
Where did you get your sublimation heat press from?
It’s from a company called Nashville Wholesale Studio, but … really lousy customer service, so I definitely don’t recommend buying there.
What brand of sub ink are you using?
I'm using the Epson sublimation ink that came with my printer, which is an Epson Colorsure F170 sublimation printer.
@@Luxinda Thank you
