Dave Allen always signed off like that, it was the most beautiful sending off on any TV show and always seemed sincere. He was a brilliant comedian.
...And right at the end he blesses the audience with his Scotch drink (if it IS actually Scotch) :-D
He lived near me in London and would see him in the local park and have the odd chat. He was a lovely man.
Dave Allen was a national treasure, great to see him still making people laugh and finding a new audience
I grew up in the 60's and have seen him countless times on TV because my Mum loved him. He's always been my favourite. Nobody can tell a joke as well as Dave Allen. I remember in the 60's he often got into trouble with his outrageous (for then) jokes about sex and religion, but he never compromised. He was a real rebel in his day.
Dave Allen show was showed once a week in Norway.
And it was the highlight of our TV night.
I think it was on Friday nights.
I laughed a lot, of his religious jokes, and sketches.
Growing up watching Dave Allen reminded me that the UK was awash with comedians in that 30 year period after WW2 had finished.
Some names are:- Billy Connolly, Les Dawson, Morecambe & Wise, the Two Ronnies, Jasper Carrot, Bernard Cribbins, Jake Thackray, Victoria Wood, Frank Carson, Ken Dodd, Frankie Howerd, Spike Milligan, The Goons, Kenny Everett, Joyce Grenfell, Tony Hancock, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, Monty Python, French and Saunders Eric Sykes, Norman Wisdom, Kenneth Williams. And this list leaves out hundreds of others both before and after the 1970s.

You forget one VERY important fact when it comes to Brits taking the piss out of you. If we are being abusive, that's us being shits. But us taking the piss is us welcoming you into the group. & never forget that if we take the piss, we give you free reign to take the piss back. It's about breaking down walls & making friends. Not about building divides & separating us all.

Always remember watching Dave Allen with my(long passed) dad on Sunday whilst my mum went on one of her regular bingo nights. I was only a young teenager at the time. DA made a big comedic impression with me

My dad and loved to watch him weekly when I was growing up. He is rarely shown on UK TV as he had it in his contracts to not have repeats on TV of his stuff so it's been a 'God' send to find him on UA-cam and see a whole new generation discover him, love your reactions

There is none better than the ones on Religion. You must watch that. He was an absolute genius. Never will be forgotten 🙏
Took an hour to watch this video, as I had to keep pausing, because I was laughing so much, rib's & jaw ache. Saw one of his live shows back in the ,80s he came on stage 10 minuets after the show should have begun & said to the audience "Your late" much to the amusement of everyone, the show started at 8pm & was supposed to end at 10.30pm we were still hysterically laughing at 12.45 am, I don't think anyone there that night left & didn't ache for the next week afterwards, he performed for four night's to a capacity audience of 6, 000 ( only a small theatre), the price of the ticket was higher than usual but worth every penny of fee, so glad I had the opportunity to see him live & not just on TV he was even more radical in his choice of material than TV allowed but still didn't use profanity, which made his show even more hilarious R.I.P Dave Allen a comedy legend xx

I lived in London in the 1960s and was next to the department st0re where I worked , he came in and sat next to me on bar stool he was a really great guy I think he will always be my favorite British comedian rest in peace Dave God bless you😅.
I really like your Dave Allen reactions King Boomer, he was way, way ahead of his time (his material was considered quite controversial 'back' then), salute to you for keeping his comedy alive in 2022 and an even bigger salute to Dave Allen for being a total "hole he goes" legend! :-)
He didn’t believe in a god but he never put down anyone for having beliefs as he had respect for others.
He always ended his show with “May your god go with you.” It speaks volumes about the legend of the man, I’m so glad I got to grow up watching him.

I look at me 4 kids and ponder the possibilities that they could have been different people and then I wonder about me and ponder on them possibilities. Not something I ponder on too much as it can be all consuming and over whelming and besides the shopping wouldn't get done and me ponderance wouldn't get fed. Great post.

I used to watch his show every week, he was fantastic.
If Brits are taking the p#ss and tormenting you, don't worry - it's just our way of showing we like you.
Of course we expect you to do the same to us (but only if you like us too)
Us Brits are an odd lot, we insult and torment our friends and are frighteningly polite to those we don't like.. Try Micky Flannigan, Peter Kay or Michael McIntyre. I think you'd enjoy their humour..

Try and find some videos of him when he was younger, he was a handsome devil with a cheeky glint in his eye, and he always said "and may your God go widh you" at the end. Great man, much loved and much missed, thank you for reminding us of that.
He was taken to soon . Dave was ahead of his time, loved watching his comedy sketches. Loved his comedy sketches in between his stand up. He was Irish however he lived in England.

His shows were really blue. He was like Bob Monkhouse a comedian who could alter his show to fit with the audience on the fly.

He always ended his show with "Good night, and may your got go with you" except for one time when he did nothing but religious jokes, when he ended with "After tonight, I think I'd better say Good night, and may my god go with me"

Dave Allen's sign off sounds different when he has just done a sketch on armies of sperm and women's immune systems.
......... Get to see the dave Allen show, was on a sat night, on our second channel, along with the likes of a funny man called Dick Emery you'll like his stuff, he plays a multitude of characters who have catch phrases give hi a look up too 👍😁
Did u notice Dave.Allen say "May YOUR God go with you"?. He was pretty much an athiest, and often made religeous.jokes and anecdotes but always with style and never hate
Great reaction as always KB. Dave Allen did a weekly 9.00 evening show from about 1965 to 1975. The one story/joke he told that stands out for me, was the one about ties (the type you wear) It's quite long so won't go into it. I just hope it's out there somewhere on UA-cam.
So great to take me back to my teens when I watched his show every Saturday, it was great to see actual stand up comedy routines rather than a comedy show which the Two Ronnies and The Dick Emery show delivered so well at that time too, this should be played to every Evangilecial and Republican in America against womens productive rights and abortion

It’s about we don’t take it personally even though it gets personal but no one’s left out when it comes to open insults lol. It’s called hooliganism in sociology lol I guess that’s where they started with making brits British. We were known all over for our love and passion for football n throwing out outrageous chants and really embrace freedom of speech. along with song release’s hitting top charts, like with most Americans n cricket, many will remember how it got them through wars civil and otherwise it was I think the stadium in ny? A place to come together.
