  • Multi-track Composition and Guitar demo of the EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius Tri-Voice Chorus - thepedalzone.com/aurelius/
I want you to meet my new friend, the EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius. A super well-voiced and compact multi-mode modulation pedal featuring Vibrato, Chorus and Rotary Modes. Aurelius has just 3 control knobs, a mode toggle and a 6-position preset selector… It’s so deceptively simple that you start to question if this is actually an EarthQuaker pedal… But of course the Aurelius has a bunch of hidden EQD-tricks up its sleeve.

Man… I absolutely A D O R E your demos-whether you’re playing all the way through, mixing in some of your wit & charm with extremely informative assessments of the gear you’re using in the video ((and/or doing a combination of things)), I ALWAYS enjoy it, and amazed at how professionally these are all done.
Have you ever created a video on showing the best methods & best ways of using varying levels of gear?
    For example:
    (1) The pro level of editing and creating, combined with the high-quality gear & editing software that you use, versus…
    (2) …a more DIY-centric/amateur-level situation, combined with various “standard” hardware & software (i.e. Using the camera on an iPhone to create videos, combined with video-editing software, apps, programs, etc. on an iMac)

Thank you so much, man! Can't explain how much that means to me ❤ THANK YOU!
Regarding the demo production video ideas, no, I haven't made any videos on that subject. But I honestly don't see myself as an authority on that subject. All of my knowledge has been accumulated over the years through learning by doing. I'm still a hack at most things, and don't have much in-depth insight when it comes to video and audio. All I've done is use my eyes and ears and tweaked things until it looked and sounded the way I wanted it to. But you can definitely get far with the camera in today's phones, and if you want to create then you definitely shouldn't let gear hold you back. Just start creating and seek to get 1% better at your craft every day. That will take you far much faster than you think. I believe in you!

I watched this video Friday evening and I am watching this again on Saturday afternoon. First, I didn't realize that EZ drummer became so good :-) My last encounter with this software took place many years ago. Second, I always liked EQD pedals, plus I love the way Andy Martin (from Reverb) announces them (as "produced in "ancient city of Acron/Ohio" by both dry and wet hands..."). Ohio? Isn't it one of those fly-by states where nothing happens? Andy makes this area to be associated with X-files movie scenario. Plus I can recall number plates visible on American highways (with words "Ohio, state of potato.."- it was in mid 90's, things could change since).Third. I used to have TC Electronic Shaker Vibrato and my experience with this pedal was that as digital as it was it used to mix very well with my analog tracks. The same applies to digital Aurelius. Graphics alone make me to want to have this box and place it in the living room... :-)

This is the best music gear channel on UA-cam!
I wish I could post a picture of the pedalboard that Stefan has helped me build with his videos.
    It looks like this:
    1994 Ibanez Tubescreamer > Friedman BE/OD Deluxe > KMA Wurm 2 > Red Panda Bitmap 2 > Meris Hedra > Strymon El Capistan 2 > Source Audio Ventris > Fender Tre-Verb > Neunaber Seraphim 2 > Zoom G5 > Revv G8.
My favorite combos are the Hedra into the El Capistan, and the Wurm boosted by either of the overdrive pedals. The Strymon gives a super real and organic feel to the Hedra, takes the digital edge off of it and makes it sound like the effect is created by natural practical effects.
Any advice on maybe changing up the order of the effects chain? Or maybe recommend the perfect multi-mode digital delay or modulation to finish it off?

Thank you very much! I don’t think there’s any correlation between this release and the unavailability of Pyramids. It’s two extremely different products occupying two extremely different price ranges and user segments. Pyramids is a hyper experimental flanger whereas Aurelius is a super straightforward performance focused chorus. Sure, Aurelius can do a bit of Flanging and Puramids can do a bit of Chorus, but in the end it’s night and day devices. It’s a bummer if Pyramids is unavailable, but parts shortage is a real pain that affects the entire industry. Pyramids uses a much more advanced DSP platform than Aurelius.

    Love your stuff.
Do you ever find EQD pedals to be "slow"? Idk how to describe it but once I switched back to tube amps from my jc-120, I realized some of my EQD pedals didn't really place nice w/ my amp. I attributed it to their pedals being digital. I noticed this especially when comparing their Aqueduct vibrato pedal with the Boss Vb-2-it was really apparent. That's the only thing that's holding me back from getting this one. (full disclosure: i'm running thru an Orange Ad-30, which does not have an FX loop and doesn't lend itself to pedals very well in general).

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Рік тому +1

Slow? Are you referring to pre-delay? If that's the case, then sure, Aqueduct has a bit of latency/pre-delay. Vibrato is made by completely removing your core dry sound and replacing it with a slightly offset LFO modulated version of your tone, so basically a very very short modulated delay. The amount of pre-delay all comes down to the chipset used, as some come with certain limitations there. Aqueduct uses the FV-1 Spin Chip whereas VB-2 i using a Bucket Brigade chip (an MN3207 if I remember correctly). The Bucket Brigade chip does have a slightly more immediate feel since its pre-delay is shorter. Whether the pre-delay on Aqueduct is annoying to someone all comes down to how you play. It's not something that's bothers me, since I play fairly slow stuff. But I can see if you play faster and very rhythmically precise stuff, then a slight delay offset can become annoying in the long run.
