Jamie Stillman, founder of EarthQuaker Devices, drops by Sweetwater to chop up a few riffs with Don Carr while they put the newest texturizing tool, the Aurelius Tri-voice Chorus Pedal, through its paces. Armed with six preset slots, an expression control input, and an array of rotary and vibrato effects, the Aurelius pulls no punches in being so much more than just a chorus pedal. Hear it for yourself!

Friend has an Afterneath that makes his Les Paul sound absolutely massive. Such a great pedal that I'd love to own one dayz
None of them. With Boss, MXR, Digitech, EHX, and TC Electronic I alrready get every imaginable sound. Mike Matthews at EHX is a bona fide genius.
I really liked the Sunn O pedal, (I’ve only tried it though, don’t own it.)
@@atonofspiders His amp and pickups help, too.
Dispatch Master. I just ordered one of these though so I'm excited to try this out
There it is…vibrato and rotary in one pedal. Done and done.
Friggin tell me about it ! Earthquaker is great
Everything Jamie makes, sounds good! Don make everything he plays, sounds good!
The switch for Live mode and Preset mode is very neat and nicely executed! Very thoughtful for the live players who work on the fly
Man does it sound amazing. I love that there is so much packed into a single pedal.
Awesome, chorus is my favorite modulation.
Best flanging sounds I've heard in awhile at the subtle end.
Best pedal I played since the 70s
I use my Boss BF-3 set like a chorus. I’ve been looking for something a little more modern to replace it. This pedal sounds like the one for me! I’m always excited to have more EQD on my board :)
Wow, this pedal looks and sounds amazing. I want it.
Much more vibrant, much more efficient, much more developed and advanced. Keep going.✌️👍🤘❤️
Great demonstration, thank you. Cannot wait to try this pedal for myself.
always top of the shelf w/ earthQuaker!! .. very nice!
Great pedal! Wow, warm and sparkly.
These days the small pedal makers are doing cool stuff with chorus finally! Now for the first time in 25 years I might want to use a chorus again. BRAVO JAMIE, yours may be the best one. And the Leslie sounds pretty darned authentic.
What a great sounding pedal! And so many tasty options.
I just love this company and have many of their products on my board.
Fantastic!!! Well done Jamie!
This is my favorite Earthquaker pedal and after the ce1, fav modulation pedal. Was missing my Rotovibe since I sold it years ago but this does even more (nice flanger!).
Usually roll my eyes at this stuff but this actually sounds really impressive and thoughtfully designed. I hear very smooth lfo and hi fidelity on the cleans, it reminds me of ADA with the extra delay line going. Nice work
Beautiful sounding
Man that is a beautiful tone at the start!
Lovely vintage vibes
Don Carr is in love !
Beautiful sounds!!! 🔥👊🧡👍🔥 okay, not even halfway through this video and I am beyond impressed with the sound of this pedal... on to the more chorus side. How in the world does this sound more rich than most hardware I have used. Price point will decide it all however 👊🧡👍
@@ItsMeBarnaby that's it! It's $199
Very well done😊
awesome, all sounds useable
man!!! ordered now!
Very fluent and creamy!!! Love the sounds and not over the top!! Yes, very very tasteful!!!
I guess it’s the year of the chorus pedal! I own the boss ce-2w, dc-2w, bf-2 and vb-2w, EHX small clone reissue, jhs unicorn, Keeley RetroSonic as well as the Chase Bliss warped vinyl hifi. With that being said it is my favorite effect. This thing seems amazing, I may have to sell one of the aforementioned pedals to purchase this.
Cool modulation pedal! Anyways, this is how my cat sounds like while watching birds from the window @04:19
Jamie and Don, brothers in hair.
Met Jamie a few years back cool cool cat! Cool pedal!
lovely
3rd setting, fast lfo is crazy nice!
I got it, Love it
Wicked!!
Ayayayay……had to buy it. 🙌
And love it 🙌
I am not a pedal person, I have one overdrive pedal and a vox wah, but this pedal seems usable, or at least an experimental sound device that seems easy to use.
Enter Aurelius... the all new Changer Florus by the magicians of EQD
I love flanger and chorus.. Especially if you can blend like this..If I didn't have the Strymon Zelzah that has multiple blending options including phaser Id buy this..
Definitely super smooth and creamy character. 👌🏽
As someone who has always preferred subtle flanging AS chorus, this is perfect. Dangit. Now I need to sell some pedals.
So the first setting could be chorus, chorus+vibrato or just vibrato
Second setting is chorus, chorus flanger, or just flanger?
3rd setting is chorus, chorus rotary, or just rotary thanks to the balance knob?
So 4 pedals in one or actually 6? 3 different choruses?
Wow, a chorus!
Are we sure this gentleman is not related to Mitch? hahaha!
At first glance I thought it was a video of him from 10 years ago!
Doesn't sound too different from what's already on the market, maybe the price point is what is different? Not exactly sure, regardless sounds great as always. Wish they had done something a little different.
It's a Digitech Nautila clone, ho hum
Just, whatever you do, do NOT send one of these back in time to Ray Manzarek or Robby Krieger in 1967 or none of this current world will be the same, likely 3/4 of us would never have happened. That box would have led to a totally different outcome for humanity had it been in those hands when all there was were boxes engineered by Navy guys who had survived WWII and all those lead fumes. Seriously, though, imagine that and a Fender Rhodes combined with a fuzz face, range master, etc. Totally different mojo rising on that combo. I like how that last setting teases with the slightest bit of uni-vibe. That could be played with in parallel in a billion and one ways. Personally, I'm thinking in terms of expression controlled delays as a follower envelope. PSYCHO POMP (not one word, two).
This is hilarious and clever.
Ight EQD is best for accessing presets
Wow, each voice sounds great. Next step after presets is MIDI. 😎
I own the Digitech Nautila and it blows this away, this is nice but it's a clone of the Nautila that came out 10 years ago. EQD is a little late to the party
bLoWs ThIs AwAy….Not seeing a rotary mode or a way to save presets on the Digitech
To be honest EQD doesn't do anything particularly new. That organ/pitch shifter pedals of theirs? That's an Ibanez MDD from way back when. Their flange? Subdecay clone basically.
I dont understand not having a dry out??? Not really hearing any Tri-Voice Chorus sounds
got confused with the label at first as well. i thought it was tri chorus and was waiting for a very lush tri chorus sound. but then it says tri voice chorus not tri chorus? so i think it just means it is a chorus pedal voiced three ways. v - c - r
@@mari_domingo That makes sense now
Don are you a fan of ayreon? your riffs sound like universal migrator
bUt WhY iSnT iT StErEo??
Just buy two of course
Re-release the Zap Machine
Mac DeMarco in a pedal. Yeah?
Ugh, another chorus!?!?
It doesn't sound any different to me from pedals Electro Harmonics and others have had for a long time. Even if that was not so, why can't anyone run a chorus pedal into a tremelo or vice versa? Chorus and flange have often been mistaken for each other. That is nothing new. This pedal sounds nice but so does everything else I have now. The only pedals on the market with actual new sounds come from Joel and his designers from another planet at Chase Bliss.
Because older companies don't have a monopoly on tried-and-true effects, and newer companies don't have an obligation to reinvent the wheel for every new release.
They could. But maybe people want both plus a rotary with presets in one pedal
I agree,Chase Bliss are the leaders in pushing the envelope and doing something really new..This pedal sounds good all the same..It will have a market and I think that is what Earthquaker Devices specialize in..Good quality, easy to use, mass market etc...
@@HomoChomsky You are right. But at the end of the day every wheel produced by every wheel manufacturer is still round. The only other more modern "advances" I know of are these: 1. multi units or pedal boards that allow the reordering of multiple effects in a signal chain in series or using them in parallel; 2. the Grace Felix preamp: and 3. the Boss Amp Expander. For #1 the electronic reordering is the "advance," not the fact that you can use multiple effects at the same time.
Cab emulators are nice, too, in certain instances.
Here is a tip that is not actually an advance and off topic to this video: if you want distorted but yet crystal clear leads (and yes, I know that is a contradiction of terms), 1. use your amp's cleanest channel; 2. use your grittiest distortion stompbox (a Boss Metal Core works very well for this); and 3. use a delay on the fastest delay time and set to ping or repeat itself only one time. The trick is to overlap the original sound and the single repeat as closely as possible. You will not hear the delay repeat.. You want to ever so slightly "stretch" the original sound longer than using no delay. I am not a sound or audio engineer and don't know how or why it works. I do know that it does. Have done this using channel one on a Fender Twin amp, using a Sunn 100S, and using two Blackstar Fly micro amps in stereo. All sounded very good.
Another tip is rerouting a stereo stompbox mono out, then back into into it's own 2d/stereo input, then out to your amp (or your amp's effect return if you used that). You now have a stacked or doubled mono signal that should sound noticeably different from the mono signal alone.
5:32 Don Carr is so fake.
