- This video is a viewer selected PvP breakdown and review of Destiny 2's Exotic Scout Rifle, Symmetry, in 2024. The last time that I took a hard look at Symmetry was back in 2020, so it should be interesting to see how this Exotic, which was released back in Season of the Dawn, hold up in the present day's Crucible! I had no idea that the blast radius got larger with more stacks!! After all these years, too.
Guess I'm gonna farm more than 7 stacks if I'm feeling cozy.
It is a nice unmentioned feature, and really fun to take advantage of if you can sit back and pile up the stacks! 😁🍻
Oh yea. This gun is so fun to use. Playing the angles with the seekers is crazy. Glad to see you enjoyed it.
I really did have a good time with it! I'm sad that it went off my radar for the past 3 years, but I definitely plan on giving it some more playtime in the future! 😁👍
@@IronworkerGaming I’ve had a blast using it with Mask of Bakris for the free damage boost to help with the TTK.
The value I’ve found with Symmetry is that it’s a stall breaker, like Hawkmoon or Revision Zero. Unlike those two though it’s super proactive and easier to use. The seekers make players think twice about rushing you down even before you hit 7 stacks, and it can wipe a Trials team on its own once ramped.
A very good point! Knowing that every crit that you land is building stacks, that can certainly make an enemy team a bit more wary! 👍👍
Symmetry is a top gun for me. A mix of loving rapid fire scouts and just Season of Dawn nostalgia mixing in.
I am a sucker for all things Season of Dawn! The seasonal weapons were some of my all time favorites! 😁🍻
It really is one of the best looking weapons in the game. Your PvP skills are solid dude.
Whoever designed this weapon definitely deserves a big pat on the back! I think my PvP play is pretty mehhh to be honest. Some days I can come through, but my brain just doesn't process things as quickly as it did in my younger years. 😅🍻
I just picked this up for the first time last night, and sought out vids to see other opinions. I can't believe I don't see it more in PVP. It's a lot of fun! I definitely noticed I wasn't getting credited with charges for every crit. Great vid!
Thanks a lot man! It is a bit surprising how infrequently it's seen in the Crucible. It's never been a "meta weapon", but it can be quite useful in the right situation! 👍🍻
Great review, Iron. I find Symmetry as a teamshot weapon rather than an overkilling one in pvp, since there are other legendary weapons that are better. However, I put this weapon in my "fun-to-use" box XD
Thanks you very much! It's certainly not a weapon that I'd want to be dueling people with, but I did have a lot of fun trying to adhere to built in play loop and getting what I could out of the gun! 😁👍

I love this gun
I remember when there were roles in Gambit, Symmetry was my wildcard for finishing Sentry and Invader triumphs due to it’s efficiency against guardians for no ammo cost. Invading with x20 sounded questionable until opponents just started falling dead from slow deadly arc charges. It really earned my respect then, and I brought it to action in Gambit in following years from time to time.
It really was, and probably still is a fantastic invasion weapon in Gambit! It's been quite some time since I stepped into a Gambit arena but Symmetry always seemed to get the job done! 👍👍
Its definitely a solid weapon! Got some funky problems with range but using it in medium range engagements usually pays off for me. Its also a very versatile weapon for Gambit! Capable of handling both the PvE and PvP aspects of the game mode.
You were correct when saying that you thought I would enjoy Symmetry! It's a really fun and effective play loop. I don't think I'll become a Symmetry main, but I certainly plan on using it much more often! 😂🍻
I’ve been loving this, vex and revision zero since the pvp changes. Fang of ir yut with precision instrument is a very good gun since the buff too.
The weapons that essentially have a "special ammo" fire mode have been treating me pretty well also! It's always nice to have that damage potential in pocket when you're dry on the green stuff! 😂🍻
I used symmetry a lot at the beginning of the season and it was super fun and pretty effective once you get the hang of it
It's been a long time since I dusted off, but I really did have a lot of fun with it! I think I'm going to continue to work with it because there does feel like there's a lot of potential for someone who knows what they're doing with the weapon! 👍👍

Yeah I don’t like the low accuracy on this.
I do think that the overall accuracy is one of the big things holding the weapon back. Perhaps Bungie didn't want it to pile up stack too freely, but a bit of a bump to the range stat could do this weapon a lot of good! 👍👍
Ive just started using it but ive been using it kind of in a trolly goofing off kind of way and not bothering building stacks.
What seems to happen pretty often is the shot misses but hits a wall for aoe damage, and the enemy can't figure out where it came from bc its coming from all over and watching people panic and run around has been kind of hilarious XD

I think Symmetry is one of those guns that most people will either click with and be able to do some work, or will be completely unable to do anything with because they're trying too hard to make it fit their play style rather than work with its advantages and disadvantages.
I absolutely agree! While I thought it suited me pretty well on a personal level, slinking around the Crucible map and picking at enemies from odd angles certainly isn't something everyone's going to be into! 😂👍
This gun truly shines in gambit invasions, gets stacks on trash mobs and then invade for arc seeker chaos.
It really is an exceptional invader weapon in the game mode! 😁🍻
Nice lol.. im about to try and complete that portion of the malfeasance .. got invade and get 25 kills and also wipe them 3 times
Symmetry is a gun I would love if it actually got a bit of QoL, and buffs to make it easier to use. It feels like a lot of work for a janky experience.
I do really like the gun PvP, but I'd love to see a bit of retuning for the sake of PvE. Even just some sort of update to let it play into the Arc 3.0 kit would do it a lot of good. 👍🍻

Definitely do if you're into rapid fire scouts! It's not the most accurate feeling weapon in it's base fire mode, but having the seeker orbs to fall back on is an awesome feature! 😁🍻
Great video. Personally I never clicked with Symmetry, because of its range of effectiveness. When I use a scout I want to be far enough that pulses and 120 hand cannons are not really a threat. But as you say, this gun struggles being too far out. Especially because of the long travel time of the seekers. Its low reload + handling don't help.
Thanks a lot man, and your point definitely understandable. The drawback of the archetype and the weapon itself do land it in a pretty strange spot. I felt like I was playing a chess match trying to get it to preform, but it was a lot of fun when I got the Arc Seekers rolling! 😁👍
I just wish they let you shoot 20 of the arc mode😢

Man this gun is fun to use. A bit of a bummer that its a bit shit in pve with no arc synergy.
I agree. Some dedicated Arc 3.0 synergy is what this gun is missing, especially in terms of PvE! 👍👍
I tried so hard to like this gun cause it's so nice to look at but I can't manage it.
I can definitely understand that. The weapon does look great, but it does fall behind the curve in a lot of ways. 👍👍
With an incoming eddy current addition, i bet getaway artist would pair exceedingly prilliantly with this. Otherwise, any easy amplified sources.
Still, the pvp performance of dynamic charge could be buffed in the higher values. No one-taps, but increasing damage ti hit supers harder and leave enemies with easier cleanup doesnt feel like a bad tradeoff for holding on to up to 20 stacks. (Btw without catalyst is 15 max)
And kick me if im wrong, but would it be nice if kills (or prec kills) gave 1 extra dynamic charge?
I must say, Symmetry has grown on me over the past few weeks, and I've found myself using it quite a bit! The upcoming buff should be interesting. It was a pretty modest buff in my opinion, but a flat buff to reload and stability on top of the Eddie Current benefits will certainly help with the overall responsiveness! 😁👍
@@IronworkerGaming ultimately im a sucker for status effects, so i feel like id have liked if the weapon had something a bit more thrown in. Maybe 5/10 consecutive precision hits (must be consecutive without misses) make the user amplified. Basically something that bumps its effectiveness against bosses, but is still hard to pull off in pvp scenarios.
Symmetry is rlly good with arc 3.0 but we don’t talk about the arc seeker mode. If final warning was an arc scout
It is pretty good, but I would love to see Bungie slap some an Arc Verb or some Anti-Champion functionality onto it for PvE! 😁👍

I do like symmetry I just don’t like playing further back like you have to with scouts that’s what’s so nice is once you got the perk you can push closer up also it’s broken for invading in gambit a we bit sad devils ruin lost the poll though
I did think the "hot and cold" gameplay of Symmetry was a lot of fun, and I must say I was pulling for Devils Ruin in that batch of weapons! 😁👍

That was the final reward from the season pass for Season of Dawn. I'm not sure if Bungie has ever added any of the rank 100 season pass skins back into the game or not. 👍👍
@@IronworkerGaming nah you can't get old season pass ornaments sadly. Still annoyed that I can't get the witherhoard one. Wish you could buy them from the monument to lost lights

It certainly doesn't get used all that often, but admittedly, I try not to let the dust get too thick on it. I don't know what it is about Sweet Business, but I always seem to fair pretty well with it in the Crucible! 😁🍻

There’s definitely a trick to using it I mostly use it for nostalgia but any time I do use it it reminds me why I love this game and just how fun it actually is

Which when I was new I knew nothing about so sweet business felt made me feel like a raid boss even if I only got 3 kills😂 one of my first builds was SB with war rig

I would absolutely love for it to be able to access some Arc 3.0 features! I was playing around with it a little in Onslaught, and it was...ok...but it could definitely use some extra spice thrown into the mix. 👍👍
This is one of favorite guns that hardly use. The catalyst imo is a RIP-OFF. Going from 15- 20 stacks doesnt nothing in pvp and barely makes it strong in pvp. 20 stack should be changed to base stacks AND id like to arc 3.0 verbs on this gun. My idea is from stack 0-4 you get nothing, 5-10 you get jolt and 10-20 you get blind and BLIND. 2 things this would do incentives you going for stack pass 7 more and allow for stunning overload with jolt and unstoppable with blind. Lastly it would give more damafe due to jolt damage. Also 0-5 limitation is their to keep it from being an annoying menace in pvp. This is a gun i really love and i really hope bungie gives it some love going into final shape.
I was actually just thinking about having dynamic "Arc Verbs" applied as stack ramp up. I do think it would be a fantastic change, and would really add a lot of character and utility to Symmetry. I agree that some PvP specific tuning would be needed, but I'd love to see it get some attention! 😁🍻
