@@justamicrowave2572 Um, no. Turkey didn't buy the Yatagan because they "didn't have the money", but because they used the money they had to buy 298 Leopard 2A4s lol. Turkey had already done trials with the Yatagan and Leo 2 along with the Leclerc and M1A2, in other words the Leopard 2A4s won the competition lol. Considering that as you said they upgraded their M60 and bought the license technology to build their version of the K9 SPG from South Korea and the money and time they had thrown at the Altay MBT, I think it's safe to say money was not the problem.
Yeah no surprise, Pakistan is a lot closer to China (literally neighbor countries sharing a border) so it's not really surprising that Pakistan rather sides with China, since they get a lot of money and support from China (financial support and military support). China is basically the "Big brother" of Pakistan. This is also the reason why Pakistan doesn't demonstrate against the Chinese Uyghur camps... Pakistan is too much depending on its big brother China... If Israel for example did the same with the Uyghura, then Pakistan would definitely demonstrate against it
@@randomka-52alligatorthatis34 Turkey chose 2a4s because the tank procurement budget was dramatically cut due to the earthquake, and so they refused to follow their initial initiative to buy either Leo 2a6, M1A2, Leclerc or T-84-120, not because 2a4s are better. 2a4 is a late 80s tank.
@@Obj.477 By "the earthquake" you mean the 2004 one? or is it either the 2003 or 2002? My point is Turkey goes through earthquakes quite often so it's understandable that can happen. Even so, I'm not really sure where this "refused initial initiative" comes from for the rest of the MBTs when in 1999 the Turks wanted to get 1000 Leo 2s from Germany(most likely the 2A5). I'm not really sure how the 2A4 being from the late 80s detracts it from being a good choice of a MBT when other countries in the late 90s and 2000s adopted them. Greece their neighbor bought them after they won against other MBTs including T-84M.
The fact that the US _did not_ spend billions of dollars on upgrading Ukraine's considerable T-64 and T-80 arsenal during the 8 years - after they decided to risk military conflict with the 2014 coup in Kiev - tells something about NATO - and their professed 'love for Ukrainian lives'...
Whenever you mention a certain ERA, why would they keep older ERA on tanks? How hard would it be to upgrade a T-64 BV (or a random T-72 for that matter) with Relikt, Nozh or another new ERA outfit?
Considering that Nozh / Duplet ERA is a very complex type of reactive armor design, because this reactive armor literally uses HEAT elements inside the armor blocks (basically it's an anti-armor weapon, used to destroy APFSDS darts when it hits the reactive armor) Which means that this type of ERA is very complex and difficult to produce in large numbers... So it would be very difficult to produce in large numbers to upgrade tanks with it. That is the reason why the Oplot is so rare afterall
Plenty, newer systems are usually more expensive and way less in number (because production did not pump out enough yet or the newer systems have smaller production capacity ) while the older systems are usually already produced in big numbers, are cheaper to produce and readily available ....and militaries of smaller countries with not so big economy (this is true even for bigger countries in lesser effect) can not afford to just throw old systems away and replace them with new ones, this takes a long time to fully replace. It's sometimes reason smaller countries stick to reusing certain caliber sizes because they have huge supply of ammunition for it in warehouses and stock.
TBH, It would very much suprise me if the Oplot is not in active combat use. We have seen so many prototypes in use with front line units that it does not make sense for them not to also use the Oplot's. If they really need them to sell vehicles, they can just make more after the war. Even if production has ground to a halt, a production of 1-2 tanks a year would be enough to get them quickly enough after the war to make sale pitches again.
The few tanks they have simply won't make a difference. But if they get destroyed they will leave a bad reputation behind and make selling the tank harder.
Their tank production capabilities is ZERO !! all their tank manufacturing factories and even their repair facilities have been bombed and destroyed by Russian cruise missiles at the start of the conflict since last year !! This giant mega Factories were build during Soviet times and now Ukraine doesn’t have the money nor the infrastructure nor the capabilities to build a tank manufacturing plant !
Well there is some truth to it in some situations... For example Active Protection System (APS) can indeed defeat a missile that would penetrate 1200 mm armor... So in this case the tank survives a powerful weapon that would otherwise completely destroy the tank in most cases And against KE rounds (APFSDS) there are some special type of reactive armor that can stop even APFSDS darts, such as the newest Russian Relikt and Malachite ERA, or the Ukrainian reactive armor called Nozh / Duplet (which means "knife") that is used on the OPLOT tank, this reactive armor literally uses tiny HEAT charge elements (which was historically invented to defeat armor), but in the Oplot it is used to protect the tank by destroying the APFSDS dart instead (cutting it in piece) to protect the tank and crew (so basically it is an "anti-anti-tank" armor design) Yeah technology can be very fascinating 😅 too bad we are using it to kill each other...
I think you fail to realize that the BM Oplot has 1100mm of effective armor (with duplet) against APFSDS, and that Duplet is also effective against tandem warhead HEAT munitions.
@@justamicrowave2572 1100mm Effective armor where? ya turret... So a side shot its a bye bye no one shoot a modern tank from the front and aim for the turret

Yup. Not much point in using the BM Oplot when you have PT-91s, Leopard 2s, Abrams, and Challengers coming in. Not to mention all the T-72s from other countries.
Among all the tanks Ukraine puts to use, the T 72 is now the most commonly fielded MBT thanks to generous donations and captured equipment. You'll not find large numbers of tanks used to defend territory, and wasting the best types of equipmenr best suited for offensive operations is foolish.
One of the main reasons the Oplot was not produced in mass was that a lot of the parts for the tank was from factories in Crimea which was annexed in 2014 by Russia.. Otherwise there would be a lot more.

Like the T80, the T90 and the 72, the T84 has an automatic charger. This is problematic. The projectiles and partial charges are not stored in a case but separately in the interior of the tank (where the crews are seated). And they are fed automatically. If the tank is hit unfavorably, the entire propellant charges are blown up. The tank explodes and the men inside die. And by now everyone knows where to hit the tank for this to happen. Tanks with an automatic loading system are generally a bad design. They expose the crews to an increased risk. In addition, Ukraine only owns a handful of T84s. Why should Ukraine show the world that its prestige tank is scrap?!
Ukraine was adrift for two decades. The US and the rest of the west paid little attention to Ukraine, being focused on the invasion of Iraq and the occupation of Afghanistan, both of which were massive distractions and huge mistakes. Meanwhile, Russia, from at least the time of Kuchma, did everything it could to impose its own system on Ukraine, undermining the Ukrainian political system at every turn. Ukrainian nomenklatura, in common with Russia's, turned into oligarchs and robbed Ukraine blind. This gave "capitalism" a bad name in Ukraine, even though what Ukraine experienced wasn't capitalism, it was just robbery. But it meant a lot of people had nostalgia for a Soviet system. Young people wanted Europe, old people thought that meant more pain and wanted something more familiar, i.e. Russia. This left the country divided and weak. In such a state, it's not a surprise that Ukraine's military heritage was largely p*ssed away. It's only been since 2014 that most Ukrainians realized they were in tremendous danger and that Ukraine needed to end the BS. In such a context, is it a surprise that Ukraine's indigenous recent tanks are not much of a factor? No. The reality is that even Russia's tanks have proven to be much less than was advertised, despite Russia having many times the resources of Ukraine. That's not to say Ukraine doesn't have the ability - its people are resourceful and innovative. But its system was such that resources were squandered and many of its best people left to seek more opportunity elsewhere - also like Russia.

As turkey with jatagan , they lose because Ukraine couldn't produce them. Plus you can get better tanks cheaper.
Maybe the T84 Oplot was the friends we made along the way.
As far as I am aware, the T-84Us were upgraded with the same TPN-1-TPV thermal sight as T-64BV 2017
Whenever you mention a certain ERA, why would they keep older ERA on tanks? How hard would it be to upgrade a T-64 BV (or a random T-72 for that matter) with Relikt, Nozh or another new ERA outfit?
Considering that Nozh / Duplet ERA is a very complex type of reactive armor design, because this reactive armor literally uses HEAT elements inside the armor blocks (basically it's an anti-armor weapon, used to destroy APFSDS darts when it hits the reactive armor)
Which means that this type of ERA is very complex and difficult to produce in large numbers...
Damn we got 3 videos in one week, with 2 of them uploaded less than 24hrs appart,? This is amazing, great and unbiased video as always!
I can't find the video of the oplot in the garage. 😩
Kevlar most likely wasn't even used in combat.

@RedEffectChannel thoughts about the Philippine Sabrah Light tank
Some people think tanks can resist artillery and anti Tank weapons with 1000mm penetration... GL
Tank in open field it's a cow for a sniper
Well there is some truth to it in some situations...
For example Active Protection System (APS) can indeed defeat a missile that would penetrate 1200 mm armor...
So in this case the tank survives a powerful weapon that would otherwise completely destroy the tank in most cases
And against KE rounds (APFSDS) there are some special type of reactive armor that can stop even APFSDS darts, such as the newest Russian Relikt and Malachite ERA, or the Ukrainian reactive armor called Nozh / Duplet (which means "knife") that is used on the OPLOT tank, this reactive armor literally uses tiny HEAT charge elements (which was historically invented to defeat armor), but in the Oplot it is used to protect the tank by destroying the APFSDS dart instead (cutting it in piece) to protect the tank and crew (so basically it is an "anti-anti-tank" armor design)
Yeah technology can be very fascinating 😅
too bad we are using it to kill each other...
I think you fail to realize that the BM Oplot has 1100mm of effective armor (with duplet) against APFSDS, and that Duplet is also effective against tandem warhead HEAT munitions.

If only Ukraine could produce more BM Oplots. Instead they chose to upgrade more T-64s to T-64 zr.2017 and T-80 zr.2017...
Well, looks like the T-84BM just got ordered for the Ukrainian army...
How they dont use while begging for modern tanks from all around the world?
Автор очень не любит автомат заряжания? В части применения с закрытой позиции очень хорошо.
Have you seen videos of the tanks with autoloaders that get hit? They explode, violently, and the turret goes flying. Everyone inside dies
@@spaghetticat110 same thing happens to manual loading it's not that simple
Bruh i thought the t84 was literally already a bm oplot💀
