Never pegged you for a knife person! Yay! Senior female edc'er and knife lover here who also loves fountain pens! While I no longer have the need for a survival knife, I carry a pocket knife religiously and use it multiple times daily. Looking forward to seeing you try your hand at basic bush craft skills. How fun!!!
There appears to be quite a bit of overlap between the knife and the fountain pen communities. I've been fascinated with Swiss army knives and survival stuff in general since I was a kid, but the only knife I owned for a long time (30 years) was my little Swiss army classic. When my daughter expressed an interest in knives I got her a little Swiss army rally and she loves it and uses it everyday, but she has developed an interest in collecting "pretty" knives. She and I both got Boker Kalashnikov Desert Warriors, but I realized that if a knife is pretty, I won't use it. So when I saw this knife, I knew it was the one for me. BTW, I love your username/handle. 😀
Some amazing engineering going on there! I think with a Bic lighter as primary, and the fire steel as backup, there's no need for the divot in the handle. Regarding fire steels: all of the experts say that rather than holding the rod stationary, and scraping the scraper/knife down along it, resulting in your tinder getting knocked all over, it's best to pull the rod up, leaving the scraper stationary. That way, only sparks fall onto your tinder, and nothing knocks it away. Great video! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the tips, Scotty. And I agree, I would never go anywhere that I want to use my knife without taking a lighter also. I want to build at least one fire with a bow drill, but honestly, if I'm in a situation where I have to do that for survival, I'm probably toast anyway. 😂
The trick is to scrape a bunch of the firesteel material into the kindling before you make sparks…not too much, but enough to continue the sparking for a bit longer. Also, the motion to generate sparks is more of a rub than a strike…idk, works for me. Will give the pull up a shot next camping trip I go on.
very nice collectible knife. Perfect for what us knife enthusiast mostly do: to look at them. From a practical perspective it looks massively overenginerd .. but it still looks great. My oldest Victorinox, identical to yours I surmise (1989) is still sharp (!!..but I too had to change the scales), I have a number of SAKs to help though, so it aged well. Great products, whose price you start to really understand after 35 years of use.
My little Swiss army classic was the only knife I owned for 30 years, so it has not had an easy life. Then 3 years ago I got a little Swiss army rally, and it lives on my key ring and is part of my edc. The classic now lives on my desk...and is freshly sharpened. A year ago I got a little Boker Kalashnikov and I realized that it's not the kind of knife for me because it's too pretty. It sits in a drawer and I've never used it. This Victorinox Venture is a knife, like my little Swiss army knives, that I'm not afraid to use. 😀
You're so right about just looking at our knives. But I have to admit that my knives, although rarely applied to their intended use, bring me much happiness. I don't know why, but I love opening the knife drawer, holding them, stropping, applying some oil to the carbon ones, putting conditioner on the leather sheaths (half have leather), etc. I just can't explain it. But I can't be without them!
@scottsyoutubeworld1824 I know, it's weird isn't it, every other year I go to France, to the same knife shop, and buy another opinel and one other, I even say the same sentence to the shop man!! Good stuff. I've got a coin a like looking at as well !!!
You did really well putting the kit together! I am 80 years old and I am never without my Victorinox pocket knife clipped in my pocket - used multiple times during the day both in the house and in the garden. I used to have an orchard & found the knife was absolutely essential there as an everyday tool as well. Just treated myself to the Venture knife (not the Pro, my $ don't run to that!) and after watching Felix Immler make a spoon from hazel wood I went out & cut a stout hazel branch, split a couple of pieces lengthwise & today I am carving a spoon (using the feature at the end of the Venture handle). Mine is taking longer to make than Felix's spoon (15minutes), but he is a great woodcarver & probably isn't hindered by arthritic hands like me! But, I am persevering. Have fun with your fire striker!
Thank you! I've been using my Victorinox Venture Pro in the backyard quite a bit since it's begun to cool off. I've used it to baton some limbs that were a little too large to break up by hand, then I ignited the resulting brush pile by using the fire steel to ignite a cotton ball that I had smeared with chapstick. Then today I used the Venture Pro in the kitchen to cut up a sweet potato into some fries. I've used it more in the past month than I have all summer! However, my Victorinox Camper goes in my pocket every morning and gets used multiple times a day every day. 😀
There is so much about this knife I just like. The real thing is being ambi. Since I’m left handed it’s refreshing to see a sheath design that is that easy to use. I like all the gadgets also. Come on that’s why Victorianox has sold so many knives. They aren’t good steel but they are just neat. An useful. When it’s all said an done Victorianox makes quality useful stuff.
You summed it up perfectly. I've always enjoyed my little swiss army knife, but I've been looking to upgrade for a while. When I saw this one I knew it was the one. I do like gadgets. 😀
Thanks for the review; since this was announced to come out I was curious on how it was, fit and finish in hand and the possible additions to it. Victorinox is a long standing quality brand, but was curious on their venture into a bushcraft type knife. May have to get one now!
Felix just uploaded a video showing how to use the drill bit. He explains how to use the belt loop to secure the knife in the sheath to prevent the knife from coming out of the sheath when using the drill and it’s socket on the end of the knife. Yep, Felix is great. Great set.
I personally still use my dad's army issue knife, a Victorinox 1890 produced in 1931. Funny to think he got it issued brand new in 1951 when he went to his basic recruit school. The blade is a bit battered but still has a good edge.
Thank you! As you can tell from my UA-cam handle, I do like gadgets, and Victorinox knives have always been my favorite because they are so versatile. 😀
I'd seen this a couple times over the last few weeks and thought it was kinda interesting but probably wouldn't purchase. Seeing you go through this in your way I'm more or less sold. Maybe something to have on hand in the car for emergencies. Love how that all comes together, like you said the hollow handle design from those tv ads is not ideal. Great video, looking forward to seeing more.
The whole "hollow handles are weak" is true, with one exception, the ColdSteel "Bushman" series which is the fullest tang fixed blade ever. The tang is formed into a tube, and it won't ever break using hand strength.
The name of his channel is "Felix Immler" and his videos are so well done. He has mentioned that his wife does a lot of the camera work and he does a good job of explaining what he's doing.

I love watching Felix and why I've been watching them for quite some time now and he knocked it out of the park with this knife. I'm going to be getting a lot of these as gifts truly amazing knifes.
@@gadgetstop321 oh definitely he's going to be unstoppable with this knife. The only problem he had with his smaller Swiss army knives is he had to be more creative to use it to make it work now the knife will be able to do more work for him, so hopefully you'll be able to do bigger projects hahaha
You can use the sheath to blow the fire. Cover the sheath (rectangular shape) opening with your thumb, put the asheath over your lips and gently blow. The air will exit through the holes on the bottom of the sheath.
Great review and I hope you really get out and use it. I think it's a great option for people that want a survival kit knife. Seems to be very solid and victoriknox seems to have known reliability
As far as I know, they are having tours of the plant where they assemble most of their products. It should be mentioned on the website which time of the day you can visit the facility. I am in the official national knife builders guild here in Denmark, and every year, the organization arranges a field trip to a certain location with reference to a known brand or a special location that has an interest for users and members plus family or friends and this year the trip goes to Solingen. Next year, we might be going to Switzerland to visit Victorinox if there is interest enough to go. Greetings from an avid collector 😊
Greetings! That sounds like a fascinating trip. How wonderful to be part of an organization with such an enjoyable tradition. I'm sure it's interesting to see how the various knife makers are similar and different in their manufacturing processes. 😀
I would keep sharpening stones in a separate location, they can break very easily is you hit that area by accident for example if you fall. overall looks like a nice setup
I had one of these it was the best knife I ever had it would take a razor sharpness you wouldn't believe. I remember lending it to someone at work and I never saw it again.
I get that they wanted to save weight with a plastic sheath but a leather one would be more durable (and less rattly). Glad you got a fire steel so you won’t need to use the dimple as the stick holder. I enjoyed this deviation video!
I agree, it's nice to have a fire steel handy. I tried it with a few different fire starting materials and it worked great. I'm approaching this knife as a total novice, but I appreciate the modular nature of all the accessories. I wore the knife and tool kit on my belt yesterday and didn't really notice any rattling as I was walking and going about my business. Running or jumping causes some rattling, but that's noisy even without the knife.
Летом 2023 г. купил новый Realme C30S. Где упрощённый Android GO.
The TV knife I think you were talking about was the Life Knife. I still have mine in the box. It feels sturdy, but I wouldn't trust it in the field. Thanks for the unboxing of the Venture Pro.
You're welcome! I just did a Google search and found a knife at Academy Sports that looks very similar to the one I remember. The description says the handle is made of ABS plastic for durability 😳 and it includes all this stuff in the handle: matches with a striking pad, wire ring saw, fish hook and lead, nylon fishing line, needle, liquid-filled compass and sharpening stone. 🤩
Talking about seeing things advertised with "1-800" numbers makes me feel even older. I am old enough to remember the advent of "DDD" which is Direct Distance Dialing, which arrived in the early 60's with the use of Area Codes by the consumer. Until then there were only "operator assisted" long distance calls with the option of "person to person" (more expensive) or "station to station" (cheaper). That was about the same time that Zip Codes replaced the one or two digit "postal zones."
Haha carrying a load of plastic an average knife. Magic straps and a pen. Useful part is drill bit. Unless for defence, Swiss army knife will do more. Bet my house she never used that Indentation rivet fire pro bit .....
Swiss Army knife toothpicks are sold in packets. They are not supposed to last long. I built my survival knife from a part of a circular saw blade, and I did have a hollow handle of tubular steel. There were two main reasons for this, one is that it is lighter and made the knife easier to throw--not that I recommend doing it. I believe it is always better to have it in your hand, but the main reason I used a tubular steel handle was so it could double as a spear by slipping it over a shaft. I always make a brass or bronze hilt on my knives, so the hand can not slip down over the blade, as can happen if the blade is slippery from blood or oil. It also makes it easy to tie it over a shaft to secure it as a spear head. Making a knife into a spear head may not seem important, but a spear is a far better counter to an animal than a knife held in the hand, and makes it possible to use it to catch fish. I never thought of winding some fishing line on a stick and putting it into the handle, but it is certainly a great idea.
Спасибо за обзор! Набор богатый, но хорош исключительно для любителей Виксов. Все таки альтернатив этому ножу довольно много. Тем более если смотреть с точки зрения цена-качество.
Welcome to the community! Fire is a quick and easy place to start! A pill bottle full of dryer lint is mighty handy. Generally catches a spark first time. Have fun, looking fwd to watching your growth
I bought one of those Rambo knives with the compass an stuff in the handle it was the cheapest made knife in the world but it was so awesome to have what an amazing knife ❤
Lots of people have fond memories of those knives. I never had one, but almost forty years later I still remember seeing the commercials and thinking how cool it would be to get one. 😀
Hey, thanks for showing the knife...I would suggest not putting the finger on the sharp edge side of the blade when taking it out of the sheath :) there's always the other, safe, side
I grew up in the 80's. It was a great time that has us still worshipping at the alter of St. Macgyver, through the grace of Victorinox. LOL. Corny I know. But I just added another one to my collection five days ago. I try to do so every year.
The eighties...good times! I love this Venture Pro, but it's not really suited for everyday carry, so I got a Victorinox Camper to carry in my pocket and I love it. 😀
Thanks! I am enjoying this set up. I've been playing with the fire steel, testing different materials to see what ignites the easiest. A little lip balm really helps start a fire, so I removed one of the sharpening stones and replaced it with a tube of Burt's Bees. 😀
I'm not a hunter, so I can't comment on that. This knife kit came with 2 ceramic sharpening stones, but diamond sharpening stones are fairly inexpensive and easy to carry along, too.
Thanks for the review! I too am a Felix Immler fan, he is a great creative engineer, and this is a knife that I will want! About your dream of the survivalknife with the hollow handle... I bought a campingaxe from Fiskars, the X5, it has a hollow handle and I think it is fantastic, you can stack so much in it!! Would look and work great with the Venture 😍 Greetings from Holland
Nice job, Lady! It's nice/refreshing hearing a ladies voice talking about cool gadgets/knives and stuff on youtube.I think they would do well if they expanded that knife line to include a paramedics knife shears set or just add an IFAK with shears. Great video, glad I stumbled across you.
Thanks, Brad! I do love cool gadgets. I'm curious to see what Victorinox does with the Venture line. Apparently there's more demand than Victorinox anticipated. 😀
I agree. I also think they should have made all the knives with a bow divot and made the sheath holder a separate accessory. I would have liked to have had a choice of colors.
It depends on what you're looking for in a knife. If you want something higher end (Micarta scales, etc.) go with the Outdoor Master, which is 2 to 3 times the price of the Venture, depending on which model you choose.
best Pen to Knife crossover person I could think of!!! I play with both pens and knives too, and have been subbed to you for a few years for fp's and stationary things. Psyched to see you venture into the bushcrafting:D My favorite thing to do with knives is to sharpen them. The tactile sensation of sharpening and freaking out over angle and pressure variation is a lot like playing with my fountain pens🤪 (I also recall seeing you use your father's old whetstones for pens before, so if you don't already dabble in sharpening knives, you might enjoy it too)
Thank you! I just used Dad's whetstones to sharpen my little swiss army knife (should have done that before the video 😂). Proper sharpening technique is something I need to learn more about. Now that you mention it, I can see where the fountain pen hobby and the knife hobby attract the same kind of people - both require patiently learning about and caring for your gear. 😀
@@zoephin6205 I was wondering if that would work with my knife since Felix said most SAK have a 20 degree edge, but the edge on this one is 32.5 degrees. 🤔
I really think you have something good going here, I loved your review and brought a uniqueness to it. would love to see you doing field tests with it.
Thanks, Jeff! Today I'm hoping to get out and try making a feather stick and maybe batoning some wood. I watched a video of a guy really messing up the blade of his Venture while batoning a small log, so I've been taking it slow. 😀
@@gadgetstop321 I’ve been watching Bushcrafting and knife review videos for a long time. I think you have a great niche when you watch a burly guy bushcraft in the woods you say “sure he could do it but I don’t know if I could”. But your videos can allow us to learn along and yet you have a certain competence that adds credibility. I would enjoy video on your next hike or camping trip trying out bushcraft stuff. Take care!
It's a nice looking knife. I like drop point blades but I would have to contain my judgement of the knife until I sharpened it so I could tell what kind of use I could get from it. The rest of the kit wouldn't be useful to me. I have been a hunter in the mountains of Colorado all my life and know what I need in the woods. When my son was young and I was teaching him wood craft and hunting big game animals I got us both fire starters. A magnesium block with a flint and striker. We learned to make fire in all kinds of different conditions but I found I could build a fire with a bic lighter kept in a plastic bag. Now I just have a waterproof match container in my day pack. I am seldom far enough into back country that walking out in one day is not possible. In my day pack I carry game bags, a good packable bone saw, cord to hold a harvested animal in different positions while I use the gutless method to dismember it. Very little else is needed. Oh, a small ceramic steel is always in the pack.
Thanks, Russell! I've never been hunting, but I used to go fishing quite a bit, though I haven't been in a while. This knife will probably accompany me on hikes...and I'll take a lighter, just in case. 😀
Thank you, I really enjoyed the pace of this presentation, you have a lovely flow. Regarding the sheaths, do you know why there are two? Was there a reason the designer didn't just do away with the smaller sheath when using the larger one? Seems odd to have to double un-sheath it for use.
Thank you! I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind the design of the sheath. I probably could have gotten by with getting the non-Pro version and just got a standalone ferro rod to go with it but I don't regret getting the whole set. I've been using it quite a bit lately. 😀
I don't know what they had in mind when they put the kit together. I've heard that it can be used for making tinder for starting fires. I've also thought that it could be used to make dowel joints.
Those stones didn't look like they were the right angle to me. Maybe they don't sit correctly in the holes when the kit is attached. Try detaching and putting on a flat surface. Also, you can use the stones freehand individually by carefully and gently shaving the stones with the knife at the most acute angle possible while maintaining edge contact with the stone. That takes a lot of practice though. You could try with a cheap knife first and see if you can get the hang of it.
Also, Spyderco makes a nice sharpening system called "the sharpmaker" which is similar to this system, but it's larger and provides more stone options. The stones for the sharp maker are also great for using individually with the method I described.
That's an interesting observation. In the video where Felix Immler introduced this knife, he mentioned that the cutting angle was 32.5 degrees instead of 20 degrees. I wonder if that means it would be a bad idea to use the Victorinox pen style knife sharpener. It has a v-shaped ceramic piece for finishing the edge.
I think it was just that the attached kit underneath was creating a slightly unlevel surface for the stones to sit on. If the kit was removed from the sheath before sharpening it would probably be fine. The pen sharpener is good for the freehand sharpening. I have one and it works well. It just takes some practice. Try on a cheap knife first to get the hang of it.
I thought the sharpening stones looked strange at that angle on a different review, but thanks for explaining why and how to sharpen, makes sense now!! Looks like a lovely bit of kit. Any ideas why you need a drill (amateur from england!)?
Thanks, David! I'm an amateur as well (actually, more like a complete novice in my case). I was surprised to see a drill included, too. I'm curious to see how Felix Immler recommends it be used. 😀
It is used to create a rocket stove. You drill a hole top-down into a dead, dry tree trunk, then one from the side, for air flow. Then you light the inside - the trunk burn from the inside out, creating a quite hot cooking fire, that is well contained and easily extinguished (Close both holes with sand or the like and there is no more oxygen to burn)
It seems that Victorinox has redesigned the plastic sheath to eliminate the rattling and to improve other aspects of the performance. Felix Immler recently compared the original sheath to one of the new ones on his UA-cam channel.
Excellent video and in my opinion you were speaking as if someone who would be buying it and figuring it out real time instead of these "Experts in the Park" videos with those long introductions walking around while birds are chirping "coo-coo"
yup, those hollow handled knives were super popular in the 80s, based on airforce survival knives for downed pilots and mini surivival kits that could keep you alive for a few days before rescue and during evasion. if made properly they're expensive and not terrible. but made cheaply they're inherently a flawed design as there's to much weakness.
That's interesting. I didn't know (or had forgotten) that the hollow handle knives were based on air force survival knives. I still think that style of knife is interesting, but the price it takes to get a well built model means I'll probably never get one.
@@gadgetstop321 there's literally only like one cmopany that makes' real" ones, but for that price, might as well get a much better and stronger knife, and store your surival items on the sheath. it was a cool idea for a minute, and i literally collect the cheap versions of them, i've got dozens of $20 and under ones. cuz it's nostalgia and it's fun. but paying anymore for an inherently flawed blade design makes no sense. it definitely reminds me of my youth. so i won't stop collecting cheap versions of them.
@@gadgetstop321 actually if you watch the whole video, you see that the knife comes with a sheath, that fits into another sheath, and the tool kit then hold both of the other two sheaths, that seems like three to me…
That was a very nice calm review. I I'm going to check out your other review when you are using it. Cheers from Canada I'm going to check out the price here as well.
This afternoon, I tried to ignite a fire with grass clippings and dry leaves using the fire steel, but I wasn't having any luck. I tried again using lip balm on a cotton ball and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the suggestion, Martin. 😀

You need to sharpen that 33 yr old knife! At on point, your finger seemed to cut through that packing tape better. 😊😂 On another note, was it ever explained what the 20mm spade bit was for? I can’t imagine what that specific hole size is used for out in the woods.
I know, that was so embarrassing! Honestly, I sharpened it right after I made the video. 🙃 I'm curious to see what projects Felix Immler uses the drill for. I'm just guessing it will be something involving a dowel joint. 🤷

You summed it up perfectly. I've always enjoyed my little swiss army knife, but I've been looking to upgrade for a while. When I saw this one I knew it was the one. I do like gadgets. 😀
What an upgrade from a Classic SD ! I'll stick to my Outrider and Scotch-eyed Auger.
Very cool gear, Cathy!
I admit. I was expecting a fountain pen review. Quite surprised that it was not 😊
Thanks R! I'm expecting this to be a fun new hobby, as long as I don't hurt myself. 😀
YOU really solved a complicated problem when you figured out how to mount the knife on that tool kit.
Thank you! 🤓
Thanks for the review; since this was announced to come out I was curious on how it was, fit and finish in hand and the possible additions to it. Victorinox is a long standing quality brand, but was curious on their venture into a bushcraft type knife. May have to get one now!
I think this knife is well suited for someone like me...who likes gadgets. 😀
Couteau pour Madame 😂😂😂😂
Felix just uploaded a video showing how to use the drill bit. He explains how to use the belt loop to secure the knife in the sheath to prevent the knife from coming out of the sheath when using the drill and it’s socket on the end of the knife. Yep, Felix is great. Great set.
I saw that video, too, and that's a very clever idea. Felix and his channel are a great resource. 😀
I personally still use my dad's army issue knife, a Victorinox 1890 produced in 1931.
Funny to think he got it issued brand new in 1951 when he went to his basic recruit school.
The blade is a bit battered but still has a good edge.
That's a nice family heirloom. 😀
Very cool video. I have carried a Victorinox militool since 1998. It has never failed me. I would recommend it for everyone.
Thank you. This knife has gotten me excited about bushcraft as a hobby. 😀
The whole "hollow handles are weak" is true, with one exception, the ColdSteel "Bushman" series which is the fullest tang fixed blade ever. The tang is formed into a tube, and it won't ever break using hand strength.
@@grantdavis5992 Interesting! I really need to look into that, I've not yet owned any ColdSteel stuff.
@@grantdavis5992 That's an interesting looking knife. I'll have to check out some video reviews.
Can you give the full name of Felix’s videos please so I can refer these to my husband and sons who love knives and outdoor activities? Thanks!

I'm eager to see the project that Felix does with this knife. 😀
I'm having a blast with it. I've seen a few people who were disappointed in the durability, but I think they were pushing it past its intended limits.
@@gadgetstop321 some people feel that it's their job to try too hard to find issues lol

That sounds like a fascinating trip. How wonderful to be part of an organization with such an enjoyable tradition. I'm sure it's interesting to see how the various knife makers are similar and different in their manufacturing processes. 😀

@@gadgetstop321 😃 sounds fun!
I had one of these it was the best knife I ever had it would take a razor sharpness you wouldn't believe. I remember lending it to someone at work and I never saw it again.
Aw, Jose, I'm sorry to hear that! 🙁
@@gadgetstop321 thanks for the update, Cathy. I watch bushcrafting vids too so I would enjoy a review update about the knife of you made one.

Да и большую часть потратил на новую квартиру в Питере.
@@grantdavis5992 Wow, I didn't realize it was that "recent" that long distance calls were operator assisted. 😂
Could also be the Aitor Jungle King II, with similar features. I still have one, it’s probably over 40 years old 😉
In this video, there are all the reasons why I will not buy this knife.
That's fair. This knife isn't for everyone.
For instance ?
Why?
Haha carrying a load of plastic an average knife. Magic straps and a pen. Useful part is drill bit. Unless for defence, Swiss army knife will do more. Bet my house she never used that Indentation rivet fire pro bit .....
The positioning of the stones on the vertical rather than the horizontal seems a little dicey.
That's a good idea! It makes sense that a spear would be useful in a survival situation. 😀

The eighties...good times! I love this Venture Pro, but it's not really suited for everyday carry, so I got a Victorinox Camper to carry in my pocket and I love it. 😀
I like the lightweight hanger, kinda looks like a bayonet frog from the past. How does it attach? Is there a clip or belt loop?
Yeah, the lightweight hanger is nice and attaches with a belt loop. 😀
I saw that first here. Very interesting set up. I especially enjoyed your story about your pocket knife. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I am enjoying this set up. I've been playing with the fire steel, testing different materials to see what ignites the easiest. A little lip balm really helps start a fire, so I removed one of the sharpening stones and replaced it with a tube of Burt's Bees. 😀
@@gadgetstop321 Those ferro rod tests would make for some great content. Burt's bees wax is great stuff. Love the bees wax.
Are you sure that the center of the handle was for lighting fires? I thought it was a button to release another tool on top out of the hilt.

The pro version was sold out so I just got the red standard. Might just mill in my own bow divot. Idk why all of them don’t have it

Good morning.
Can we say that it is better than the Outdoor Master model of the same brand?
It depends on what you're looking for in a knife. If you want something higher end (Micarta scales, etc.) go with the Outdoor Master, which is 2 to 3 times the price of the Venture, depending on which model you choose.
@@gadgetstop321 THANKS. With the Venture we cut, we prune but we don't split wood?!
@@steffrouen I think you can use the Venture to split wood, just maybe stick to softer varieties of wood and don't use a sledgehammer for a baton. 😀

Thank you! I'm enjoying it. 😀
best Pen to Knife crossover person I could think of!!! I play with both pens and knives too, and have been subbed to you for a few years for fp's and stationary things. Psyched to see you venture into the bushcrafting:D
My favorite thing to do with knives is to sharpen them.
I've been using Victorinox' Pocket Sharpener. It looks lile a fat pen, until you open it. So convenient, and works great!
I would stich that velcro together, with time it deteriorates and would loosen which could mean it may disappear.
That's a good idea. I can totally see that happening. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@gadgetstop321 an absolute pleasure Ma'am, that's what we are there for, to help each other.
I'm so excited for the new Venture Pro, and all new fountain pen purchases are on hold so I can save up the money to get the Venture Pro.
I'm in the same boat, so to speak! 😂
I’ll take a good puuko above this knive anytime. This set costs in Europe about €180.
For that money you get a better puuko and a fire steel.
That's fair. This knife isn't for everyone. 😀
Are the belt kits handed?
All the ones I've seen only seem to fit well and give easy use to left-handed people.
The plastic sheath is ambidextrous, so since it straps into the kit, the kit is also ambidextrous. 😀
the drill bit seems bizarre, unless it's to help you make some firestarter material from a log?
Thank you so much, it has been a great pleasure seeing your video and this new product I never knew about
You're welcome! 😀
What is the drill bit for?
I don't know what they had in mind when they put the kit together. I've heard that it can be used for making tinder for starting fires. I've also thought that it could be used to make dowel joints.

Huge fan of victorinox, this knife or the Mora?
For the price, it's hard to beat Mora. Some people have called the Venture "gimmicky", but I like gimmicks, so I went with the Venture. 😀
How can I buy this kni.., oh well, this product, if I even don't know what steel it is made from?
Nothing beats my Mora!
I've heard lots of great things about those knives. 😀

Thank you. I think so, too! 😀
That's a good idea.
thanks for the nice presentation. Finally, the knife in the cover is really noisy, so nothing for the hunting season...
It seems that Victorinox has redesigned the plastic sheath to eliminate the rattling and to improve other aspects of the performance. Felix Immler recently compared the original sheath to one of the new ones on his UA-cam channel.

Thanks for your in depth look at the Vic. Good job. Just curious, when is the last time you sharpened your pocket knife? 😊
Umm...the first time I ever sharpened it was after I shot this video. It's nice and sharp now. 😀
yup, those hollow handled knives were super popular in the 80s, based on airforce survival knives for downed pilots and mini surivival kits that could keep you alive for a few days before rescue and during evasion. if made properly they're expensive and not terrible. but made cheaply they're inherently a flawed design as there's to much weakness.

Knife sheath fit is inadequate and the upper rubber that secures the knife in the sheath will easily break when rubbing against the steel of the firing pin or breaking coconuts.
Good light knife with a very effective cut and well thought out or at least ingenious additional equipment.
I agree. Even Felix Immler, the codesigner of the knife, has said that improvements could be made to the sheath. But overall, I'm very happy with this knife. 😀
What’s the 20mm bit for?
I haven't used the flat drill yet, but Felix Immler has demonstrated some interesting uses for it on his channel. 😀
What am I missing? What is the significance of the 20mm wood dril bit?
I don't know for certain. Maybe it can be used for making dowel joints?
Nice kit you got there! Good video. 👍😀
Thank you! I'm really enjoying it. 😀
