  • Watch until the end, this does work to both read and reset your SES light.
    Read the codes from your cars computer and reset your service engine soon and check engine soon light without any special tools.
    Do NOT have the engine running during this procedure or you will damage your engine.
    This has been tested on Nissan’s from approx 2004-2016 and have had successful results. Make sure to use a timer if you can’t get the timing right.
    These are the steps you need to remember:
    -Turn ignition switch to on position but do not start vehicle
    -Count to 3, and press and release the gas pedal 5 times fast
    -Count to 10, push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there
    -Count to 12, release the gas pedal completely
    -Count to 10, push gas pedal fully to the floor and hold or
    -Count to 10, release gas pedal completely
    -Turn ignition to OFF position, wait approximately 5 seconds
    -Start vehicle….codes will be cleared.
    Do NOT have the engine running during this procedure or you will damage your engine.
    Video first shows the steps to this process then explains the steps. Then I show how to check the codes and then show you how to clear those codes.
    CORRECTION TO VIDEO: I mentioned that I use a K&N oil filter, but I was actually meaning the K&N reusable AIR FILTER. These are fairly easy to over oil, and then the oil sucks from the air filter onto the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) causing a fault and a SES light to come on.

      @@i_refuse_2_quit609It took couple of tries to do it successfully. I was about to quit before it worked at the end. If it doesn’t work, there’s a cheap diagnostic tool on Amazon, less than 15 bucks, that can erase engine lights.

    My car is 2016 Nissan Versa SV… and it seems like I have the same diagnosis for the 4-digit code so it is the MAF sensor too then?… this is such big help… thanks again.

      @SMR-Tactical  4 місяці тому +1

      Correct. That 0101 code is a MAF sensor code. I would also recommend checking rockauto for the MAF sensor, they seem to be about half the price for the same exact MAF sensor as a brick and mortar parts store.

    • @SMR-Tactical
      @SMR-Tactical  5 місяців тому

      If the light came back on there might still be a problem. You can get it into diagnostic mode and count the flashes to figure out the code, before resetting it…but yes…if you have already done all that I would reset the light and take it for a spin. Hopefully light stays off and you can run it through inspection without any issues. Good luck!

    Do you need to perform idle air volume learning after resetting the light? I've been seeing that in some places, but wasn't sure if it's necessary with this method.

    • @SMR-Tactical
      @SMR-Tactical  9 місяців тому +1

      That’s a good call. And depending on why the SES light was on…I would say absolutely you should do the idle air volume relearn. Worst case you are just resetting it when it isn’t needed, but best case…it needed resetting. I appreciate the input and am realizing I need to make a follow up/part 2 type video.

    • @landa_voigt
      @landa_voigt 9 місяців тому

      @SMR-Tactical thanks for the response! do you know if there's a way to do the relearn without an advanced scanner tool?

    Will it pass inspection after I do this and if so how long di I need to drive till it will pass

    • @SMR-Tactical
      @SMR-Tactical  5 місяців тому

      With the light off you should be good to pass inspection. Most places hook up to the OBD II port under the dash, so as long as you are actively throwing an error right then you should be good. I would clear the code and hopefully the light stays off.

      Could be a few different things.
      Make sure all accessories are unplugged (any radar detectors or cameras or phone chargers….all that stuff needs to be unplugged). All accessories like the stereo and the a/c blower etc need to be turned to off.
      Lastly, use a stop watch or a phone to count the time, and hopefully you will have better luck.

    😢 didn’t work 2017 Nissan rogue

    • @SMR-Tactical
      @SMR-Tactical  4 місяці тому

      It could be because the fault or error is still present and still being detected by the computer, not sure though…but it should work on your vehicle.
      I would make sure the problem has been fixed/corrected, then follow the steps again and I think the procedure may work for you.
      Good luck!
