I'm sorry Dimitra, I am shocked that there is so much criticism around. I was so very lucky to live in Greece for 3 years and had the best time in my life. The Greek people are so loving and welcoming that leaving Greece was one of the worse things I had to do. As soon as I saw your channel, I was hooked. Please keep the recipes coming (don't change a thing) and to the critics, well if you don't like sweets, bathed in Honey or Sugar syrup, turn to another channel. Just leave us alone.
When I saw the amount of sugar, I was like Whoa! But then I saw how little syrup was needed to make a cool or hot drink, I thought this would be perfect for my family, esp during the fall & winter holidays. Thanks for the recipe!
Dimitra don’t worry about the haters, I love all your recipes, I’ve made so many of them and they’re always a big hit, you have a a lovely personality, God bless you
I am definitely making this for summer!! I just made hibiscus tea. I might put a few flowers in the syrup to see if it adds a red color s8nce I don't have red food color.
I wonder if it would be possible to get a little natural red flavor by adding blood orange… what are other syrup flavors? Is the fruit added after the syrup is prepared, or can it be added during the heating process? And ty for sharing, this looks delicious. We had a bad heat wave here in IL… I will definitely be trying this at home ❤
@@AlexaCBrown I love beets. It tastes a little earthy and sweet. I hate cleaning them though lol so i just get the juice from the store. No one nearby sells beet powder though
@@kathleenstoin671 Great ! Bravo! Where do you live? I can come and live near you so I can purchase affordable cinnamon, or is it cassia bark you are buying?
@@laurastuart3814 I live in the US, where it's readily available in most grocery stores, but what difference does that make? Almost anything can be bought online these days. Yes, it's probably cassia, but I feel sure this recipe uses that very thing. But I checked the prices for cassia and Ceylon cinnamon sticks, and there isn't much difference in price. If you want to avoid sugar, you certainly don't need anyone else's permission, but don't get all preachy with those of us who think it's OK to have sugar in moderation.
Unbelievable that with all the info available these days that people still don't understand how toxic sugar is. I grew up on home-cooked healthy foods but also lots of desserts which seemed okay but unfortunately were not. If you eat this way please take a Fasting Insulin Test to see if your body is actually dealing with the sugar effectively. Itll show if you're on the way to type 2 diabetes many years before a fasting glucose test will.
Who said to stick a straw in it and drink the entire syrup? These recipes have been enjoyed in moderation for years. No one ever recommended to drink this 3 times a day. Unbelievable. Please start your own channel and teach people how to stay healthy if you’re so concerned about humanity.
Sugar is not "toxic". Anything you consume in excess or overdo is going to hurt you including water, salt, meat, and exercise. I had this drink that she has made and it is not sweeter than coca cola, but without the phosphoric acid and carbonic acid.
@DimitrasDishes Great reply! Obsessing over food isn't good for your health, either, but some people make their lives miserable doing it. Everything in moderation.

You don't have to use as much! Put in the amount you want. The recipe looks great I must say.

You're the best!
I had the cloves-only version several times before. It was such a delight on a hot summer evening. It was served with pine nuts on top.
i love all your recipes! Your durectiobs and demonstration are easy to follow and your comments are really helpful!
I'm thinking this might be nice to add to sparkling water. Thanks for the recipe!

Definitely making for Sorrel that I make, amongst other ideas.
With all my travels around Greece I have never seen or heard of this, I love kanela too! Thank you Dimitra!
I must give this a try ❤ Thanks so much for sharing 🙏
You’re welcome ☺️ enjoy it!
Im gonna try this tomorrow but I'll also be add some dried hibiscus leaf tea. Thx for the idea D.

(There are plenty of natural red food coloring... Beet powder is one.)

Thx u
I thought you might suggest carbonated water. Sounds delicious
Super 👍🏽 🙏🏻 👌🏻 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 👍
Always cute
I'm going to serve that with a dash of brandy.
I think that will be expensive and also SO much sugar!
Don't make it then. You don't need much to add to a drink so it won't be too much sugar. Cinnamon sticks aren't really expensive where I live.

It makes a lot of servings. You could try sweetener, though it won't taste the same.

Greeks are very healthy and live very long.
My late mother-in-law put sugar in everything. And apparently it did shorten her life. She was only 98 when she died.
Go troll somewhere else.
