The idea of cute, innocent, little Sylvanian Family animals having a guardian angel is just so charming to me. Like the Doom Slayer protecting Animal Crossing characters. Good vibes. 😁
I've spoke with one of the writers for Space Hulk Deathwing via a games store event. He told me originally the Dark Angels took some inspiration from native American culture, hence the occasional feathered helm or purity feathers. In some art they are depicted with tribal face paint too. i.e the assault class in Deathwing.
I’ve kinda wondered if the feathered helmets (and Ravenwing banners), which I assume came from the eventual medieval knight theme GW gave the Dark Angels, were also meant as a way to nod at the early Native American lore with the feather totems.
I also really loved the early Deathwing short story where a small force of DA go to their home planet and find it was taken by a Genestealer cult. It’s a weirdly Star Trek The Original Series story in vibe, what the combination of Star Trekian American Indian Planet and the whole storyline of “our heroes discover a planet terrorized by mythical monsters and find they’re aliens”
Really impressive freehand on the Land Raider, and the scratchbuilt Ork plane is centrepiece-of-army material. Maybe one day, if you've got an opponent with their own un-fielded minis and willing to completely ignore army building rules, you could make armies solely out of first-timers, and blood them all at once in a giant mishmash skirmish.
A slightly grim but funny story this video made me remember: In 6th-7th ed I had a Blood Angels army, obviously all firstborn. But I don’t have to worry too much about not being able to use them now because someone broke into the boot of my car and nicked my mini case with close to all of them in it. Got the Baal rolling again though with the 8th edition release box and I’m now enjoying a Primaris Blood Angels force.
Nice collection of classic models. Your Forgefiend is brilliant. I have my entire Rogue Trader Ork army that hasn't seen a battle since th 90's. But I love them so. 👍
There's a free game called Grimdark Future that's essentially a stripped down, fake Warhammer 40K. You could build an army that accommodates all your leftover/ignored models pretty easily and quickly.
The freehand on the side of that Land Raider Spartan was so good that at first glance I thought it was a decal! Nice work; makes me want to pump up the details on mine! Especially since I bring mine every chance I get with my Ultramarines!
Nice collection of toys that aren't played with, I have lots of toys unplayed with too. I also enjoy painting my collection, once I have cracked the perfect recipe for green skin, my goblins will nolonger live in shame .. just sit, waiting, ready for adventure. Poor Thomas, I've seen Event Horizon, it might be better for our sanity if he's never seen again. (that was so wrong)
Have the old inquisitor command squad from fourth along with a techpriest and other 40k sundry that was purchased for a game of Inquisitor run with GURPS that never happened. Should really paint those models someday.
To further the explanation of the DA native American origins, they once had suitable pre-marine names, such as Cloud Runner, Two Heads Talking and Lame Bear
Another factor that makes me and anyone hard to argue against that anything that in general GW can be very inconsistent in lore, shifting between editions, I have seeen one art and I think minatures salamanders with black skin like african, but then other art it is literal coal black/dark gray, one is very different from the other and lore is that it happens to all slamanders so both cannon co-exist. The text to speech episode addressed it the best ua-cam.com/video/M56aycpd9kA/v-deo.html and of course that originally they had color scheme that was yellow and not green. I like the idea that the culture of DA could be a fusion of or a totaly different culture that happens to look like knights and native american, its not very imaginative to just copy past one old culture. The lore works like the state of knowlage in the actual univese, people modify it based on what they heard or old biases and then it gets passed down and continues to degrade, and will never know the truth.
I go to sleep listening to carefully selected youtube videos. Sometimes i dream of really crappy eurovision entries, sometime evil Ringo Starr. But always, always, i wake up to a still playing miniscape playlist.
That plane looks brilliant! I've been wondering about this too, mostly because I am slow building and am only getting in a few games with my big Necron force and now the 1k of 1k sons I've finished. But I kind of like working on the Ultramarines and Black Legion I started when I was initially confused about how Chaos worked as I started out. I'm weirdly invested in the 3rd Company Ultramarines I've only used for one teaching game where I ran them out to be Leeroy Jenkins style targets for a former student trying out my Necron list. Finishing my Indomitus box the day before I got the Leviathan one felt like a meaningful accomplishment.
Actually, that ending reminds me of my favorite model. I put a googly eye on my Thousand Sons Rhino and call him Thotmas the Daemon Engine. It didn't come out great using green-stuff around the eyeball, but it's still fun. Kind of want to give it another try when I'm better at this stuff.
That is some nice freehand work. My Grey Knights apothecary has performed heroically throughout the first leg of the crusade, so Ibdecided to upgrade him using an abandoned Draigo conversion I got for cheap, so that he can illegally carry a storm bolter on his right arm. However, now with it only half painted, I got VERY tempted just last night to make yet another version (“true scale”) using some excellent GK files I recently found. Immediately I was conflicted. If I do that, the original upgrade may never see the table.
Models I have owned for DECADES with out playing a game ... My Armourcast Titans! A pair of Warhound scout titans, and a Reaver battle titan. They are only really usable for really large battles, and I have nobody to play those with around here anymore.

I don't use any of my old hammer stuff due to lack of opponents.... managed to trick a friend into a small game of 2nd edition epic space marine.... Chaos v Tyranids..... I even remembered the rules! Loved the video, I would spend time shoe horning these lovely models into as many games as possibly.... which then means another video of other minis you don't use because you are using the models in this video....😮

I've been building&painting Warhammer for about a year now, having played probably less than a dozen games in that time. Now I kinda feel bad for my Minis.😢 (Ultra Marines, CSM, Death Guard, Custodes, Krieg, Stormcast and some AdMech)
I play in a local store that runs games at 1000 points max. As such my trio of super-heavies (Shadowsword, Baneblade and Storm Lord) have never seen a game. They look great lording it over my other armour however.
From the Archives of the Legends of The Scouse Marines "I dunno, mate, I don't mind it really." "Yer not bored?" "Oh, aye, bored I'll grant thee, bored, yes, but I don't mind that." I just spend 200€ and a few old minis I didn't need on maybe 3000-4000 points of Tau, I might not play for another year or two. But it is VERY important to constantly lie to yourself that you most certainly will have needed that modell you have just bought and that it surely was a good investment!!! So videos like this can help me cope
I feel You bro! I have 17 armies for 40k, 5 of witch were NEVER used, and the other factions have some 20-40% of units that never saw combat! Just like You - lack of time, all the friends from past that I used to play with have moved out ( just like me) got other things ( familly, kids, jobs, etc). Also my job leaves me just a single free weekend per month. But I enjoy painting and looking at my minis :)
I think everyone has some ebay minis they never use. I got a Knight Paladin for $50 (42 quid) on ebay and found out it was a recast. The plastic was much softer and a different color. Some details are wildly off. Kinda cool to own a recast of a plastic kit model.
I have an entire army that's never seen play: AdMech. The reason being that every time I came close to having 2000 points to field, the points would drop some more and I'd be back to the 1800s or lower. I finally have about 2200 points of AdMech though, so maybe some time soon I'll take them out in battle. Aside from that... The Y'vahra in my collection has seen even less play than my AX Tiger Shark. Especially now in 10th edition it's lost all the qualities that made him interesting to field, now he's just a more expensive riptide.
Obviously, it'll be Vashtorr. The Arkafane could use one more demon engine. And unlike the great Ruinous Powers, you always know where you stand with Vashtorr, for better or worse. Mostly worse. This is the origin of the Doomtrain summon from Final Fantasy 8, by the way. Thomas has been shown such sights.
Perhaps all along the Watchers in the Dark were the Sylvanian Families? That would explain their diminutive stature. 😂 I'm sure Captain Balthazar knows more than he is willing to let on.
I can't relate to this video. I never painted a model that I did not play on the table top. Where you live don't you have mates that just play at home with house rules? I never said no to a model and never had anybody say no to one of mine. This is a game. It is supposed to be fun. You don't have to play the rules for the newest Edition from GW at home. You can play any edition you want and make up rules for any model. As long as both players agree, then anything goes at home. I never do tournaments. they are not fun. The are stressful.
Christmas Goblin riding a Rudolph Squig, is begging to be in a 1 vs 1 death match! Just a little suggestion there brother.😉 That's some very fine freehand on the Spartan there brother Matthew, it exudes a Baroque quality! 🤔 Also a fun fact many don't know!! The Sylvanian families are one of the few, loyalist families to survive the Horus Heresy, so it's no wonder such an important Dark Angel, would be tasked with protecting them from chaos corruption😂 I get the feeling that Thomas would be fine if Percy, Gordon & Edward where there to give him fire support & protect the rear and flanks; If i were Thomas i would opt for speed & stealth, sticking to the high ground and killing with the blade! Only firing when absolutely necessary, with short controlled burst to conserve ammo! Saving the flash grenade for the moment i was about to become swamped. God i wish i were there with Thomas striking at the heart of chaos!!! Thomas aka Didymus was also an apostle too! just like Matthew.........Could this be a sign brother? 🧐
A coincidence I never thought about. Funny you mention the 1v1. The pilot for that series was remarkably unpopular compared with my other videos. It also took me the longest to make. If I make any more, it will need to be a shorter process.
@@Miniscape-wh40k Well regardless i enjoyed that video, but i understand when making videos, sometimes effort & length can be a make or break for the viewer and the content creator too. Anyway great video as always brother👍 Please be careful though brother Matthew, that Thomas the tank engine video, seemed to have a little special kind of insanity to it! Would i be to presumptuous to think, that maybe i might be rubbing off on you? Or do you just hide your darkness well and it was bubbling up inside all along?😂👍

Which miniatures of mine have never seen a game? all of them. I just collect and paint, I don't actually play the game. maybe one day.
Most of my models haven't seen the table since that atrocious 8th edition was unleashed upon the wotld.
Try one page rules. Made me love playing again.
All of mine have not seen a game huzzah!
Bets for which chaos god Thomas pledges his soul too
Obviously, it'll be Vashtorr.
If I were to go to UK, I would try a game with you sir.
You're on
For some of us if we were to make a video like yours it will go on and on for hours and hours...
😅 I have many more I don't play with that I haven't shown you
Man I need too get a age of darkness box too paint as for my dad
Thomas the destroyer of worlds and the changer of rails it must happen XD
DAMN ULTRASMURTHS!
More Chaos Thomas, please.
The reason we don't play the Librarian Dread is because of pure spite out of the fact he can no longer magically fly like he could in 9th.
More tales of Thomas in the warp please!
If you ever do play Horus Heresy, I think that you will find it far more enjoyable than current 40K. 👍
I played one game. It wasn't with ultramarines though. I used proxies. Was fun.
LOL, I have BUCKETS of Azrael models.
🤣🤣🤣
😍😍😍
Mate I have whole armies that have never hit the table 😭
Solidarity, brother
@@Miniscape-wh40kI'd prefer more free time and some regular opponents but solidarity will do for now
Perhaps all along the Watchers in the Dark were the Sylvanian Families? That would explain their diminutive stature. 😂 I'm sure Captain Balthazar knows more than he is willing to let on.
An interesting theory 😁
Never actually played a game. I start to collect, def going to join a club or something....then nothing.
But my son is old enough so maybe soon.
Thomas the Daemon Engine!
Should I make a model of that? 😉
All of them
😅
Knappford-on-Siccarius
Thomas the Daemon engine it's what we want to see now 😂
Did he keep the Sylvania family safe?
Mostly 😅
Thomas the Daemon Engine
I did say if you done voice overs in the 80's didn't i... DIDN'T I !!!!!
😅
Vostroyans
Not to "uhm actually" but I'm, converting Da Red Gobbo as my Warboss, if I like a model, Imma find a way to play it, come hell or high-water
Yeah I guess I could do something like that.
@@Miniscape-wh40k again not trying to be a contrarian asshole, great video, loved the models, just my 2 cents
@@Scrombo2 don't worry mate, I didn't take it that way at all ☺
I can't relate to this video.
Maybe the main issue is, I don't have any friends
@@Miniscape-wh40k I really hope, you are joking about that.
im subbed to ringo star? crazy times! lol
Indeed 😅 peace and love
Also none of the models aside from the battle of macrbe ones technically.
