Miniscape doing the things we wished or couldn't be bothered to do as kids.
😅
"My hands have stability the UK economy could only dream of" LMAO
Yeah, it is a good thing I wasn't sipping anything when he said that!
😅
🤣
Omg the crafting materials sack had me crying. Such a treasure trove of rummagability😊
😜
These turned out great. A big thank you to Mrs Miniscape for making this video possible
😍
Mrs Miniscape deserves a BAFTA 😂😊
She says thank you
sorry im from german what is BAFTA?
You can print in resin instead of plastic if you’re looking for loopholes
Good idea
One alternative way to do floor tiles on those ruins would be to employ those paper sheets with designs printed on them, that hobby stores sell. The ones most likely intended for scrap-booking. There's tons of designs out there, including checkerboard ones that would make for good tiles. Just craft and basecoat your ruins as normal, then glue the paper down on the inside section (artfully torn or cut out to fit the space and form the broken edges). Maybe seal the paper with some PVA glue or similar, then weather it however you please to bring it in line with the rest of the board.
Yes I know what you mean. I've actually got some excess wallpaper like that so I could use that next time.
I have to say that when I was younger I didn’t realize how nice the graphic was on these paper ruins. The solid black shadows especially. They all look really comic-like or match the rule books artworks nicely. Very cool to see them one more time. Also - nice work! I like your style, mate. My inner child is crying tears of joy as I’m realizing I actually prefer the way 2nd ed. looks over current gen. I also understand now why all the perfect and expensive plastic terrain never gave me joy. I have to make my own rough but full of heart props.
Absolutely right. The old ruins are still keepers. Glad you enjoyed the video.
0:05 I feel a song coming on.
The 2nd Ed Starter Set was a thing of beauty and wonder. The card terrain was a great idea; and was a taste of things to come in Necromunda and Mordheim.
Thanks for another great video.
I mean I could make many a song to the melody of land raider but I think I might wear it out
It feels so refreshing watching you hobbying the "old school" way, winging it.
This feels very 90's, the way you tackle things. It is so great.
I was born in 1990 and got into the hobby in 1998 so this is very nostalgic to me.
Thanks!
You are most welcome and thanks for your kind words
well said YES !
I laughed too hard at the england economy joke!!
Sad but true 😅
Matthew is the best, a real auteur
You are too kind. You're the best buddy 🤩
I think some retro ork pueblo houses could make for a good backdrop for more pictures! These ruins came out great, and thanks again for helping me get a scan of the cardboard ones to work on my own.
Thanks very much and you are welcome. Did you do anything with the scans?
Printed out for templates to use, but haven't gotten around further than that. Too many projects, not enough time.
@@hmgirlpopuri5819 I totally get that
Ork Adobes and round red spike cacti
I really like your crafting videos, Miniscape. And having Ms. Miniscape chime in for a brief intermission was very endearing. Nicely done.
Glad you like them. Cheers.
- "You got enough plastic"
-" But honey, the printer prints resin!"
You either get to have a 3D printer or get booked to hotel couch for a week :D
Aw I like these, superb columns. Always had a soft spot for the card ruins. Those studio photos of their handmade terrain, the refinery was my favourite, so dynamic and exciting as Eldar, Orcs, and Marines fought for resources.. mmm.. nostalgia hit.
Big agree on the old terrain
These absolutely deserve so much praise, they match the spirit of the 2e terrain and fit in wonderfully with the models.
Thank you so much
I was looking forward to this video since i saw the updates on Instagram.
😍 enjoy
Lovely work and a fine homage to the terrain crafting methods of old! Premade terrain is neat but sometimes, nothing hits that nostalgia spot like some cardboard, PVA glue, and any interesting bits of rubbish you've got lying around.
Big agree. Thanks!
A great video! Absolutely love it! Now to get the templates of all those free card terrain kits from white dwarfs from the 90s and recreate them like this! Fantastic results and now, to avoid a week on the couch for cutting up my wife’s placemats, I’m off to the op-shop to look for some old placemats.
Thanks and good luck. If you find said templates then please let me know where to find them also.
@@Miniscape-wh40k Mate! Absolutely! If I find them I’ll send a link over! I’m sure someone on the “interwebs” somewhere has some done A4 scans of them :)
@@B1ackSwordVids thank you
I enjoy the brightness of these
Reminds me of the good old days when GW used to encourage you to do this kind of stuff. :)
Love the video. Scratch building terrain is my favourite part of the hobby. But there's always a backlog of grey plastic to paint, and I have a sufficient quantity of terrain to battle over, so it always ends up at the bottom of the priority list. But maybe after the current model I'm painting...
So much memories! Love from France
😍merci!
This is how I imagined them as a kid 😁 great work on these. I might have to have a go at it
Do it buddy
Fantastic video Matt, great to visit the 90s again.
Big fan of using whatever materials you have to hand, and the general re-use/recycling of it all, but can’t help thinking you’d have made your life much easier doing it all with foam board.
Probably would have. Might go with that next time. Was a nice experiment though.
Great job with those, they look just like the genuine article, only better.
Thank you 😊
10/10 for creative problem solving. Although you have less placemats…let’s hope that they won’t be needed.
I absolutely want to try this! Fantastic idea to remake these.
Awesome. Do let me know how it goes.
Looks like Mrs. Miniscape is going to get her own spinoff in the next season, from how much they are hyping her up as a character now, and I think that's a great idea.
😅
Mrs Miniscape out at the ahops desperately finding purchases which meet the household needs but can’t be repurposed into terrain!
So goooood!!!
babe wakeup new upload from warhammer ahoy
That's me 😁
Great build , enjoyed the pillars from glue sticks and of cause your smooth late night radio voice.
Glad you liked it. Smooth as a baby's something.
Great fun and nostalgia. Also kudos to Mrs Minsiscape for her support!
these turned out fantastic! the paint job in particular came out great. I've been collecting useful bits of discarded cardboard for a project just like this, though after a somewhat lacking prototype I sort of lost some steam. this was just the inspiration i needed to jump back into it, thanks :-)
That's great news. Please let me know how your project goes ☺️
This is such an amazing video. 🎉
As for someone who as not a huge hobby space there is so much ideas and creativity.
I‘ll definitely try the same.
Thank you!
Good luck and thank you

@@MrDaveyboy1985 😙🎶🎵🎶
Awesome video again mate. Your take on this Terrain is the nicest total scratch effort I've seen!
I'm not sure how many people you've already inspired to go back to their 2nd ed stuff and dust it off and paint/play but I am firmly one of them. Although for now I'm doing my Tyranid Attack box and it's going sweet! 😙 Thanks for the inspiration!! 🫵🤘
Thanks for your kind words. I am so glad to hear you're getting back into old stuff. Have fun!
Loving the old school scouts @ 19:38 Great Vid as well.
Thanks mate
Well done fine sir!
Thank you 😊
soo many fond memories include those ruins :D great video~!
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
They look amazing.
Thank you
These are great
This is so cool!
😃
Awesome mate! Love it!
I'm glad you did 😊
Awesome job. They look great!
Thank you! Cheers!
Another fantastic 2nd edition terrain video. Personally I would love to make those strange bendy trees from the box art @ 1:01
Never seen anyone make a video on how to make some. Like you said everyone does a video for the Cacti. (Spikers?)
all the videos and thanks for the inspiration you give me.
Very welcome friend
Always love your videos, they are always a pleasure to listen to (you have a great speaking voice, very calming), a good mix of humor and hobby knowledge. Keep up the great work, why don't you serenade your completed projects any longer? Hah I liked that part as well!
Thanks for your kind words. I need to serenade the Mrs after using her mats.
Beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
Im very impressed, top job
Thank you very much 😊
I could live here Matthew, like a 40k Steptoe...
🤩
its a Weatherboard or a sometimes called a Flood board or high water board.
Thank you ☺️
Great work 👏 love listening to you voice and delivery - like a hobby Julian Barrett
Very kind of you to say. Though he's from Leeds and I am not but I suppose we're both Northern.
I'm not sure Mrs Miniscape understands how many useful things you can make her with a 3D printer, but it actually looks like you should buy her a Cricut for her birthday.
Love the checkerboard floor details, I am constantly finding excuses to paint it as much as possible (working on a Night Goblin army and 4th edition Skaven so they are everywhere). As you have recreated the terrain perhaps the card Dreadnought should be on the books...
Thanks. Recreate the card dreadnought? 😅
@@Miniscape-wh40k yeah fully in 3D with household bits and pieces! It will certainly be a challenge 😁!
Amazing to see these come to life. That chequer pattern adds a lot.
Do I detect new miniscape tunes? :D
Thank you. I'm always experimenting with more tunes. I should probably compile them into one video again.
Cool video mate! keep it up!
Thank you
Love seeing recreations of the classic stuff!
I redid and released the Gorkamorka Fort in free and 3d printable form a while back, i know you said you arent getting a printer but have a look at it if you want :)
Sounds great. Where can I find it?
@@Miniscape-wh40k Should come up if you search for Gorkamorka fort 3d, i think my previous comment got removed due to it mentioning a site name.
Love it! Very dedicated mate! Beautiful and wonderfully retro results 👍 I actually have a similar project in the works myself also inspired by Ed at minisodes 🙂 I really enjoyed this video; many thanks!
Glad you liked it. Thanks buddy.
Coping saw would have been good to use to cut the mats
I would love one
I imagine it's a *little* cheaper if you use *actual* waste placemats :P
The end result is great, I love your little posters.
Thank you. I did use actual waste placement, just in case the joke didn't come across as obvious.
Mrs Miniscape doesn't know you're doing the Emperor's work!
Her sacrifice of place mats is for the greater good.... Wait, that's not right?!?!?
😜
Thanks
Many thanks 🙏
great video 3d printing a set of these ruins myself. Would love to see you tackle the deodorant landspeeder.
I shall add it to the list
This is like an episode of Blue Peter. But not cringe, and with both barrels of Mike McVey.
Boom boom
But no sticky back plastic!😂
New Miniscape video on 2nd ed box set? SOLD.
Enjoy buddy
@@Miniscape-wh40kone of the things I really enjoy about your content is that, unlike a lot of other warhammer tutorial vids, you have a much more realistic, problem-solving approach. Most content creators have a very mechanical process that they show you, but the reality is that part of the joy of the hobby is finding creative solutions and admiring the singularly unique finished product. Your videos aren’t just “do it like this.” Rather, they are “here is how I came up with a creative method for completing my project.” It’s inspiring!
@@CousinPaddy well that's very kind of you to say. I figure that I am no big authority on the hobby but I will share what I do in case it helps someone. Cheers
I painted my 3rd ed plastic ruin to match these.
Dude! Yes! Email me some photos of you can ☺️
@@Miniscape-wh40k I'll try and get a photo tomorrow. Where to send it?
@@richtheunstable3359 thanks. mneilpainter@gmail.com
I’m interested in where you got that retro grass battlemat! I’ve been painting so many bases goblin-green lately- I need the green mat to match.
ua-cam.com/video/rpdhuBbjkps/v-deo.htmlsi=SaMz1yPvOop4MkEX this. But it's long out of print.
@@Miniscape-wh40k thanks chief
Does anyone have a link to the 2nd Ed. ruins 3d print file he mentioned? I can't find it.
wonder if i could poorly do this with the naff styrofoam i have lying around, probs be hard and not as durable the this
If it's Styrofoam you got as packaging with an appliance for example, I have found it's mediocre for terrain. It's brittle and bits of it disintegrate. However. If you stick some thin card either side of it or use paper mache to cover it, it could work.
New song idea. The lament of a 40th millennium skirting board engineer
😅
A thankless task...
Indeed
Based as usual
😂
Gesturing your misses off camera to thrown down the place mats 🤣
How did you know 😅
Is there some reason you just didn't make these entirely out of foam core?
Not sturdy enough?
Experimenting. I like the cork texture from the placemats too.
Specifically Lancashire sand?
welll god stuff and miss hobby makes more showing up and you shud go to pond store nest tome you do this to get bits and basses cork mats or last get new ones so you ues the old thay came great like it and tune in to ne vids
Did you buy more placemats
Aye, under pain of death
Please god get a channel 4 show already.
😅 I think my appeal is niche at best but thank you
What about That bunker they' gave away' in white dwarf
Go on...
When are we going to see Mrs Miniscapes doing painting?
Never. She has zero interest in the hobby. I kid you not.
@@Miniscape-wh40k force her to do one model on video so we can enjoy the suffering
i want that scan file so i can do it at home too
If you email me I can send it to you. My email is on here somewhere. You need to view on your browser though rather than the UA-cam app
Minisodes Miniscape colab 2e battle report when?
Last August we did it
Sadness, no alien cacti video 😢😢
Cry not friend, there are plenty others out there
Well, Mrs. Miniscape doesn't want more plastic... That rules FDM out. HOWEVER, she said NOTHING about resin... So you can get an SLA or other kind of resin printer.
After all these years I've only just spotted that they swapped in the metal missile launcher marines on the back cover to 40k 2nd edition! ua-cam.com/video/6GeLAtFXIlQ/v-deo.htmlsi=Y3BhTMgsI3xWhT1v&t=42
Ha. So they have. Well spotted.
Was this posted before?? 🤔
No this is the first time
@Miniscape-wh40k I might be thinking of the ones that were straight out of the box and glued onto foam board to make them more 3D? 🤔
Overall, great vid and tutorial!
@@SgtHouse yes. Minisodes did that video. Thanks 😊
no song :(
Feel free to compose one 😜 you know I get criticism when I include and when I fail to include songs so what am I to do? 😔
If you send me a message with a PO Box I will send you a generic Dremel.
That's very kind. I don't have a PO box however.
Maybe not today, but soon we will turn you to the dark side and you will buy that 3d printer.

Every episode must now include a joke about the UK economy
😂
At least until they start rationing the jokes, then it's only a joke for every other episode.
@@arandomlostsoul753😂
Mrs Miniscape sounds like a heretic.
I wouldn't cross her
Thoroughly ruined
😅
😂
You have not got enough plastic if it's just that small table and that small army ..... If it's your hobby and you enjoy it, it keeps you off of the street and is relatively inexpensive(not to mention you literally film everything for UA-cam so need stuff to do that with) there is no reason for someone to control your actions ....as long as you're keeping within a budget you can handle ..your life is not purely about hers ..if hers is not purely about yours 👍 grow some balls
😉😉😉
If your significant other is truly as cruel about your hobbies as displayed in your video suggested, I am sorry for you. I am one of the luckiest in the world to have found myself a spouse who actually buys me more plastic to add to my grey mountain of shame.
Yeah. It's all an act. Sorry to burst the fiction bubble.
