Hi Guy, Thanks for your great review! As you may have noticed or not I have got my first Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 42mm, I have a question for you as a Hamilton lover: where can I buy a hamilton aftermarket brown leather strap?? Branded with Hamilton brand? Branded without the Hamilton brand?? I appriciate you takes times if you answer me! I bought my Hamilton with the steel fabric bracelet, that I always try to do. It’s easier to find a suitable leather strap! I’m just curious what you think?? Maybe this question is a theme for a separate video?? Thanks!! Merry Christmas!!🎅🏻🌲🎅🏻🌲
You can call Hamilton and buy a strap directly from them. I know people have done that to buy a bracelet after buying the watch on the leather. I also like Hirsch straps if you want an aftermarket but good quality leather strap.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews Thanks Guy for your answer, much appriciated!! Okay, if I place a longdistance call they can take my order👍🏻that would I never had done if didn’t known your info👍🏻I knew you were the right ”Guy” to ask!!😉👍🏻👍🏻 I will also look into Hirsch straps, Thanks for that also!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great review! Beautiful timepiece and think your right about finding it cheaper down the road, Not sure why people get butt hurt about Hamilton prices as the brand as a whole builds amazing watches at very fair prices and you'll always be able to find parts & service..
Beautiful watch, easily the most legible dial I’ve seen. Being a Panda, similar to Paul Newman Daytona, makes it somewhat of a standout until you notice the different font and obvious missing third subdial to say the least. Still for the price, color, plus additional date (preferable over a third hourly subdial) and fair size makes this watch a bit of a stunner.
Mechanical chronos really fascinate me, but I don't think I'll be able to afford (or justify) the swiss ones for a while. While this watch looks stunning, I think I'll first get something with the ST1901 movement for the first mechanical chrono :)
@@JustBlueFish the seagull 1963 is probably choice #1. But there are also other Chinese watches that use that movement, I found one called Gustav Becker chronograph (aprently a resurrected old Swiss brand, purchased by a Chinese company for the name), they designed it in bauhaus style, so it's nice and clean, and uses the st1901 movement, all that for like $175-200 which seems like a steal. I couldn't find any reviews for it, so I'm not entirely sure it's worth a gamble, but I like the design - goo.gl/images/GsJSMa Also Alpha watches use this movement too, few other channels reviewed their Speedmaster homage.
I loved the Intramatic 68 when it came out and had no idea this version was smaller, it's seriously on my list now. Any chance you could get an Ebel wave chronograph in? They are gorgeous pieces and I feel like Ebel doesn't get any coverage!
This watch is an welcome affordable entry on the market. Especially for the much lower street prices of Hamilton watches in general. Still wish it would be hand wound and therefore an millimeter or two thinner. Nevertheless it could be one of my next purchases.
Guy, check out Bulang & Sons for their Beads of Rice Straight End Link bracelet as an option for this Hamilton Chrono, since you don't like leather straps much.
Got one this week. Beautiful vintage look. Think Dan Gurney circa 1966. Bought from AD for $1700. I agree about the strap. Going put a tan rally strap to complete the look. Better in many ways than a speedy pro.
Love it! Keep coming back to it when looking at automatic chronographs. will definitely wait in the hopes that the price drops significantly though... At the moment it's going for about 3k aud so no way i'm paying that much.
@@JustBlueFish Just had another look and cheapest on ebay is AU $2,344.12 or US $1,721.25, which is a lot cheaper but still a little bit too much for me.

Very Cool Watch Guy! I like Hammies I’m thinking about getting a khaki Field Mechanical the one that comes on a nato with the faux Patina on the hands , looks like a nice piece. Your Review of it kinda got me thinking about it 😂
Nice watch for sure, but you're dead wrong about not being able to find Swiss automatic chronographs under $2000. There are many available less than that and with the same basic ETA/Valjoux 7750 based auto chrono. In fact, Amazon is selling a Victorinox Air Boss Mach 6 with an ETA 7753 for $350 right now. In any case, still a great watch you have there.
Excellent review Guy! Thanks. I really, really like this watch, they nailed it. For me, not keen on the all polished case, but keeping the price down I guess.
The cream dial definitely comes across guy , very similar to my sarb 035. Good review as per, but the all polished case is a turn off for me they look like chromed brass. Alsheff
Really like the classic look of this watch. However I don't understand why it's so thick. My 38 mm Hamilton Auto chrono is only about 11 mm thick still has 100m wr and Sapphire display caseback. Powered by the h-21 I believe the movements are the same dimention as well. I really miss a sub 40 mm auto chrono offering.

Your review puzzled me. I mostly enjoyed it, but was left wondering how one can review a watch and proclaim it as a "pass" without even wearing it. In fact, this watch fits my 6.25 inch wrist quite well because my wrist is relatively flat and broad (rather than being very round). One of your competitor reviewers has a 6.25 inch wrist and it looked great on him when he actually put it on. You cannot know that by just holding it against your wrist. I get that you didn't want to bend the strap, but because of that you missed the fact that the case back sits quite low into the wrist, and the downward angled lugs are therefore lower and have less hangover than you seemed to think. And, the strap is lovely - not particularly interesting, perhaps, but soft and supple and luxurious feeling. It reminds me of the leather strap on my JLC Small Second Reverso Tribute watch. And then there's your waffling on the value. On the one hand, you acknowledge there aren't any competitors at the $2,000 price, but then you suggest it would have been "really nice" if Hamilton could have priced it as low as $1,000. Ummm. Say what? Yes, the Breitling is nicer at over $8,000, as is the new Tudor at $5,250, but you could buy this watch and the Tudor for less than the Breitling. This is Hamilton's most expensive watch that is not a limited edition, but it's also a higher end feel and fit and finish than any other Hamilton I've worn.
Really excellent review! I have the limited edition 68 and love it, including the 42 mm size, but am equally comfy wearing 40 mm and was thinking of adding this to my collection. I saw a grey market seller just popped up selling this for $1560 but will wait for AD to discount first. --- Still, I have to say, I don't like the price point for this which if I recall is the same price as my LE 68 was purchased new directly from Hamilton.
@Shep Proudfoot Mate if you make search, Chronometer is not a very difficult thing to achieve. Read about ETA 2824 movements the elaborate ones easily can be regulated to be Chronometer. So don't buy in to Rolex's advertisement campaign to sell their watches for stupid prices. Mate Rolex produces over 1million watches a year. They need to sell those watches.
@Shep Proudfoot I got your point but look at Patek Philip , AP or Richard Mille. These are million dollar watches and none goes to fake Chronometer Certification process. Because it is a gimmick. Rolex is a mass producer. To be honest Grand Seiko or Omega are better than Rolex. Think like that. Chinese NOOB factory make 1:1 copy of any Rolex even the movement is same. Only an expert can identify that it is fake Rolex. If Rolex is very good how come a under the stairs Chinese work shop do exactly the same watch. Why can't they copy Spring Drive Grand Seiko or Master Coaxial Omega?
@Shep Proudfoot let's say because Rolex is very popular that is why they copy it the most. But isn't it weird that they do 1:1 copy of Rolex under the stairs factories. Check Noob factory Submariner copy. Only experts can detect it. İf Rolex is sooooo sophisticated then how come easy to copy. Can Chinese copy a Ferrari or Lamborghini 1:1 copy? Rolex is a very simple watch except some complicated ones but they are well over priced.
Was thinking similarly. I could even forego the 10 bar for the 5 bar of water resistance for a thinner profile. I mean, it's a chronograph, it ain't a field watch (which hamilton has sadly made mostly 5 bar versions of, go figure).
It’s basically an ETA Valjoux 775x, with some modifications. I’d expect it to be as robust as the original, but to be fair I don’t personally have long term experience with a Valjoux based chronograph.
I have two Hamilton chronos- Khaki Chrono and the Pan Europ both with 7750 variations. They are both about 8 years old and keep perfect time. Amazing watches.
The ETA Valjoux 775x series are tried and tested, bombproof movements used by many, many brands including IWC and Breitling. Cheap to service as well. You can't go wrong.
Kinda strange with black and white hands??? I'm I the only one? I like the idea of the racing mark II where the chrono hands are orange and the normal time keeping hands are standard.
@@JustBlueFish The hands they are all over the place. The sub dials have white hands. The minute/hour hands are a polish. and then the chrono hand is black. What the hell is going on. I understand the design choice but look at the speedy or the navi. The hands should match.
Yeah, black hands would be really great on the black sub dials. Likewise, a nice cream large seconds hand would be super legible on the cream face. The hands are just fine and provide a good contrast on their respective dials.
Can't believe your misunderstanding of water resistance. It either has meaning or it does not. If you won't get a 100m rated watch wet at all because it isn't "intended to be a dive watch", why would you ever submerge a 100m rated watch that is intended to be a dive watch?
I’m pulling the trigger on this watch this month. As excited as I am, I admit that if it had a silver applied logo, man-o-man that would be sweet. Anyway, not perfect, but an amazing piece nonetheless.
Except for the color palette, it's an exact copy of the Breitling Transocean Chronograph. Of course it doesn't cost $11 grand like the Breitling either.
Hi Guy excellent review and another beautiful piece from Hamilton but very expensive for what it is.A bargain at thousand dollars but a rip-off at two thousand.👍🏻
Buy 2nd hand. It's a Swiss chronograph .. and not just a module. You can get a chronograph watch with a chronograph module for cheaper but the servicing of those can cost almost double and they are often much thicker awkward.
Its really funny when he says something like "I am really happy" or "I am really excited" with that dead face. Lol.

Even at retail this is one hell of a watch for the price. But of course you can now get them at least here in Europe for about 1500 euros. Secondly a dark brown quality leather strap would look ace on this watch. I really like it.
wow, I cant say which one I think is better looking its just too close, but I'd go with the reverse panda because of the size, I have huge hands , wrist(8 in)
That’s fair.
What is the difference between the H384160 (the one in this video) and the H38416711? I cant seem to find anything online on the H384160 which i have received...
I love these but if you get down to brass tax it's merely a classier Tissot PRS516 Auto Chrono.
Yeah you're right it is. But the Hamilton is much nicer looking.
Good review. Thanks again. Steinhart has Valjoux 7750 movement watches for less than $1000. Granted, it's not an in-house movement but it's an option for those who want to purchase an affordable Chronograph watch.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for telling us about the lug to lug measurement. I'm a 6.5" wrist, so that's definitely an issue for me.
No it's not.
Mine just arrived for Christmas! Got it for around $1450 which I think is fair.
Nice watch. I agree that a bracelet option would help sells in the south (USA) and other hot areas. Maybe a strapcode strait end link?
I don't generally like straight end link bracelets, but it might work on this watch.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews at least the option is available.
That is an excellent looking watch. 40mm perfect for me but those lugs do sound a little long.
Thanks for watching.
Nice detailed review. Looks like a white colour date disc. For that price you’d expect it to be colour matched!
Ya the date wheel stands out next to the off white dial.
Glad to help.
I am not a huge fan of the Hamilton straps. Personally I'd go with something like a Hirsch strap. You could always put a Hamilton buckle on it.
Great review! Beautiful timepiece and think your right about finding it cheaper down the road, Not sure why people get butt hurt about Hamilton prices as the brand as a whole builds amazing watches at very fair prices and you'll always be able to find parts & service..
Yeah the style is awesome, I love the aesthetics. As they become more available and affordable I will probably pick one up.
Does this watch pair well with NATO straps? Have a ton of 20mm natos and wanna pull the trigger on this but was curious how it paired?
I was wondering the same thing especially with the height of the watch, a NATO may make it really stick up off the wrist.
I've heard good things about those movements. What model watch in particular are you looking at?
@@JustBlueFish the seagull 1963 is probably choice #1. But there are also other Chinese watches that use that movement, I found one called Gustav Becker chronograph (aprently a resurrected old Swiss brand, purchased by a Chinese company for the name), they designed it in bauhaus style, so it's nice and clean, and uses the st1901 movement, all that for like $175-200 which seems like a steal. I couldn't find any reviews for it, so I'm not entirely sure it's worth a gamble, but I like the design - goo.gl/images/GsJSMa
Also Alpha watches use this movement too, few other channels reviewed their Speedmaster homage.
Wow, just backtracked on your videos and found this. Further to another reviewer, I really like this chrono, really like the 'blue reverse panda.'
Reminds me of the Heuer Carrera Calibre 18 Chronograph Telemeter , so...i like it, great review as usual, thx and Merry Xmas your way,
Thanks for watching WoT. I haven’t seen that Heuer, I’ll have to look it up. Oh and Merry Christmas to you as well.
@@JustBlueFish Thx, looking forward to a new year full of great reviews. DO look the Tag Heuer up, its amazing
It should have a dark blue dial, white/beige sub dials, brushed case. Maybe next year .
I wouldn’t be surprised if they do other variations.
Great review! Ordered mine today :)
Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
I loved the Intramatic 68 when it came out and had no idea this version was smaller, it's seriously on my list now.
Any chance you could get an Ebel wave chronograph in? They are gorgeous pieces and I feel like Ebel doesn't get any coverage!
The 68 was cool, but I definitely like this one better.
This watch is an welcome affordable entry on the market. Especially for the much lower street prices of Hamilton watches in general. Still wish it would be hand wound and therefore an millimeter or two thinner. Nevertheless it could be one of my next purchases.
Thanks for watching Ron. I don’t know if Eta or Hamilton have a modern hand wound chronograph movement.
Guy, check out Bulang & Sons for their Beads of Rice Straight End Link bracelet as an option for this Hamilton Chrono, since you don't like leather straps much.
Never heard of that brand I’ll look them up. Thanks for the suggestion.
Wondering if you ever experienced problems with the cronograph at the time of trying to reset it, not going back to zero?
Thanks for the review. Looking to pick up a new chronograph.
I think the Hamilton is a great choice. I wish they had a bracelet option though. The strap is nice but I’m mostly a bracelet guy.
$3k? That’s almost $1000 over retail.
@@JustBlueFish Just had another look and cheapest on ebay is AU $2,344.12 or US $1,721.25, which is a lot cheaper but still a little bit too much for me.
Fantastic review. Just picked one up 👍🏻
I hope I enough money to buy it...loved Intra -Matic
Thanks for watching.
Cool watch .. IMO maybe a little thick and not quite my liking with the appearance, but on the other hand I absolutely LOVE Khaki Field watches... Hamilton makes great underrated watches I think .. good video man.. as usual, great job
Thanks for watching Jeff. All the 775x based watches are thick, it’s just a thick movement.
Side note: the H above the Hamilton .. on the dial.. seems almost 70's Jetson's looking.. sorta not liking that either ..
Hi. Can you consider this as a dress watch?
I wouldn’t, no.
Seriously?
I just tried one today. Aesthetically , it is nice
Very Cool Watch Guy! I like Hammies I’m thinking about getting a khaki Field Mechanical the one that comes on a nato with the faux Patina on the hands , looks like a nice piece. Your Review of it kinda got me thinking about it 😂
I really like that mechanical Khaki, I’ve been wearing it a lot lately.
A fully polished case would probably mean a polished bracelet, which would be awful. Alas, great review!
Yeah that's probably true. Good point.
Excellent review Guy! Thanks. I really, really like this watch, they nailed it. For me, not keen on the all polished case, but keeping the price down I guess.
Thanks buddy.
The cream dial definitely comes across guy , very similar to my sarb 035. Good review as per, but the all polished case is a turn off for me they look like chromed brass. Alsheff
I don’t mind the all polished care much. It works fine for me.
What Hamilton is that? I really doubt it's 11mm thick and an automatic chronograph.

@@jallaballa229 Ashford lists that model as having a thickness of 15mm. Being as it uses a 7750 movement there's no way it's 11mm. www.ashford.com/us/watches/hamilton/khaki-field/chrono-auto/H71466133.pid
www.chrono24.com/hamilton/khaki-field-chrono-auto-38-mm--id9229171.htm
I'll probably should find my slidemeasure and make sure.
I absolutely love that watch I do wish it was half as much but I believe when it hits the grey market I'm going to have to risk it and pick this one up because I love leather straps !!on that note you should go with like a strapcode or maybe even a a millinaise *** " sorry about the spelling lol"another fantastic review sir 👍👍 👍
I bet once it’s beem out a while you’ll find it for $1500-1600. At that price I’m probably a buyer.
@@JustBlueFish oh yes 👍
The previous was 22mm lug and 44mm or 42 mm case something like that.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. And trust me that the movement in it as good as ROLEX if not better. They used elaborate ETA in it.
Thanks for watching.
Brilliant review.
Thanks Shane
If the Hamilton logo is metallic, I feel that it may look a bit awkward and a turnoff. I dont know about black metallic though.
Was thinking similarly. I could even forego the 10 bar for the 5 bar of water resistance for a thinner profile. I mean, it's a chronograph, it ain't a field watch (which hamilton has sadly made mostly 5 bar versions of, go figure).
Nothing should be changed. This watch is perfect, as it is.
Guy,, would you say that this version that you're reviewing here is just as easy to read the dial for the time as the Blue version would be?
I haven't seen the blue version in person but I didn't have any concerns about legibility.
Thank you. I'm buying it at this moment!
I am curious to see how robust the movement will be in the long term.
Can you do a comparison with a very similar looking Breitling?
I don’t think that is possible. I returned the Hamilton and don’t have access to Breitling watches typically.
Execution was the word you were looking for . Nice review.
this now sells on Amazon around $1500
I mistakenly bought a Grovana Chrono for $750.00 Automatic . You can buy discounted brands for under $1000
Great watch! Saw it in person not long ago :-)
And you didn’t jump on it?
I really like it. Great vid.
Thanks buddy
Kinda strange with black and white hands???
I'm I the only one?
I like the idea of the racing mark II where the chrono hands are orange and the normal time keeping hands are standard.
The time keeping hands are high polished stainless steel with white lume fill in the center. Or do you mean the chrono hand?
@@JustBlueFish The hands they are all over the place. The sub dials have white hands.
The minute/hour hands are a polish.
and then the chrono hand is black. What the hell is going on.
I understand the design choice but look at the speedy or the navi. The hands should match.
Yeah, black hands would be really great on the black sub dials. Likewise, a nice cream large seconds hand would be super legible on the cream face. The hands are just fine and provide a good contrast on their respective dials.
I agree with you100% on the price point but it is a very desirable watch
Someone said they got one for $1600 roughly. That’s not too bad. I’d like it in that +/- $1500 range.
Great review - Thx
Bring back the 42mm case size. Not even big enough for my wrists.
great job on this video.
Can't believe your misunderstanding of water resistance. It either has meaning or it does not. If you won't get a 100m rated watch wet at all because it isn't "intended to be a dive watch", why would you ever submerge a 100m rated watch that is intended to be a dive watch?
really nice chronograph!!!
It is!
nice watch
My wish list for this watch: applied logo and name, display back case, and we would have a perfect panda.
I’m pulling the trigger on this watch this month. As excited as I am, I admit that if it had a silver applied logo, man-o-man that would be sweet. Anyway, not perfect, but an amazing piece nonetheless.
wow nice watch... really like it.... yes please father xmas i want one
Ho Ho Ho.
Except for the color palette, it's an exact copy of the Breitling Transocean Chronograph. Of course it doesn't cost $11 grand like the Breitling either.
$11k is a lot! I’ll take the Hamilton.
Agreed; of course you can get the Breitling on bracelet :-)
I've been wanting to add a Hamilton to my collection but I just can't get over their lack of water resistance for their higher-end models.
100m for a chronograph is actually decent.
Hi Guy excellent review and another beautiful piece from Hamilton but very expensive for what it is.A bargain at thousand dollars but a rip-off at two thousand.👍🏻
Ya I’d split th difference on the price, $1500 feels fair.
Yum. Let's try to get a giveaway of this watch, too!
Agreed. You should call Rob at Topper and suggest the idea to him!!!
Hopefully the jeweler will offer you a discount so you can get it.
That would be nice!
Thanks for reviewing this I’ve been wanting to see more about it I feel it’s a great watch but overpriced
Thanks for watching.
Buy 2nd hand. It's a Swiss chronograph .. and not just a module. You can get a chronograph watch with a chronograph module for cheaper but the servicing of those can cost almost double and they are often much thicker awkward.
