I heard of the High Top Fade and Boxcut both I went to middle school and high school with a predominantly African-American class in the 2000s into the 2010s and I'm white so I saw those styles every day! they never went out of style! I loved seeing them!

First time I ever heard this was about 6 years ago in a club in south London, it was playing when I got through the door and the dancefloor was in pure synchronisation. I'd never seen anything like it. About 50 people. The song was blowing my mind at the same time, esp with the little guitar solo hitting out of nowhere
Obviously I joined in, and then later on spotted someone who was in there and got the name of the track off them.

The earlier Cameo albums had several lead singers, the band had 10 or 11 members then. The lead here is Larry Blackmon who is also the drummer and founder of Cameo. Larry Blackmon, Larry Dodson (lead singer of the Bar-Kays), & Commodores era Lionel Richie all got part of their vocal style from Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players. Since Jay has said he likes falsetto, Wayne Cooper of the original lineup of Cameo does that. Some Cameo songs you can hear Wayne is "We're Going Out Tonight", "Shake Your Pants", & "Why Have I Lost You"

Believe it or not there were once 11/12 ppl in the early days of this band. The lead singer Larry Blackman was actually the drummer.

Larry Blackmon, the lead singer, is wearing what's called a codpiece. He explained its origin in a radio interview. When he was outfitted for the “Word Up” video, he was dressed in black spandex - “As usual,” as he bemoaned. After slipping into that famed one-piece, he was handed a box and peeked inside.
“Then I shut the box really fast,” Blackmon said. “Inside was this red cup. I said, ‘I’m not wearing this!’ But they talked me into it, and it has become famous around the world. I am asked about it all the time.”
