I've heard this probably 500 times and every time it's a new experience. It's like a religious experience through music, especially with good headphones. I wish more people would realize how well Scott carries that bassline.
I witnessed your first reaction to PTX and I am here for this one. Big change in your musical ear and understanding of the fact that this is truly a cappella ❤️. The power of vocal purity is incredible.
How could you not listen to this before now after only hearing it once before? I have to hear this often because they are all just magnificent! I love them all too. They are all different so the best in a different way! God bless!
You should also give a listen to their own cover of Amazing Grace, from I thik 3 years ago, just to hear how their voices have evolved over the years, Kirsties vibrato and power soars with the Amazing Grace. Also, technically acapella doesn't open up your eyes, it opens up your ears ;) but I'm still surprised at how many people (even now) are crawling out from the rocks or downstairs bedroom and being surprised at how great these groups are, because they were so stuck in their own niches, that they weren't aware of what was going on. Good job SauceyDad!
Everytime I watch this, I am exhausted by the end. The rollercoaster of sounds, visuals and emotions is so utterly satisfying, it leaves me drained but I love it! I revisit it very often, especially when all the negativity in the world has worn me down. Forever thankful to them! And love your reactions! 💞
My favorite song. Not just bc its a beautiful song but I love how so many think its about religion and God and it isn't at all. So I love that part. This was my introduction to ptx also bit I heard it not saw the video. So when I saw the video I was shocked to see mitch was a guy. He was my favorite from the first note and is still.
i love this 🥺 for a ptx original you should check out petals! it’s one of my favorites off that album and it’s unbelievable from the background to scott’s voice to mitch’s high notes! ❤️
It seems many people who like PTX completely missed the Deluxe version of the Lucky Ones. I like watching the PTX Weekly News and Courtney uses Petals and Anchor as background music on the videos. There is always someone int he comments asking what that lovely song is.
They NEVER get old. I can't even count how many times I've heard them do this. I am so happy for them that they are getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023. Avi is included too. It's a first for an acapella group. So well deserved.
@@sannalopperi-vihinen233 same, I'm sure I've seen him react to it, too (I mean, I could have dreamt it, but it's unlikely). And if a new round of blocks on older vids are happening then that could be what has happened to it.
I've heard this song dozens of times but this is probably the first time I've heard this in these headphones, when Avi came in the first time I almost fell over. I confess that I'm a diehard Home Fry, have seen them live too, a Voiceplayer, thou not as strong and PTX is a distant third, but this song is a different beast.
You are 100% correct! This is a song for the ages! I've loved nearly every version I've heard. Sometimes simply because of the lyrics if the artist wasn't quite what I was looking for. That being said, THIS version, I've seen hundreds of times. Both with reaction videos and on my own. It NEVER ceases to spread goosebumps 5 layers thick, chills that chase up and down my spine and inevitably tears from the emotions that get pulled from my very soul. When Avi sings his verse with all that emotion and the haunting cry in his voice, I'm done for immediately. There are such great a capella singers to be heard for sure. But Avi is the standard that most singers will never even approach. I have a few others that I feel are on par with him, but I'll not start controversy between the few members of different groups. I'm with you, people have their favorites and have every right to their opinions. So long as they don't force feed others their opinions. Respect to you for basically telling people to grow up! As always, great reaction! ❤
Ahh!! I can't believe you stopped it before hearing Avi's low note at the end. Now I have to go listen to it. I hope you're still able to see him in concert soon!!
Hello Saucey Dad, How nice for you to react to this again. LOL.... "a mighty significant Mitch slap packed in here"...you got that right. All five of them are just superb. The arrangement. The solos. The harmonies. The call and response. The humming. The crescendo. The wall of sound. Pure Pentatonix Perfection. Great reaction and commentary.
They have just beautiful harmonies..I'm a homefry, a saucey fry, a saucey tron and of course part of the saucey fam..I also love PTX, some songs more than others and this one tops the list..thanks Nick for re-reacting to it 💖
I have heard this song more times than I care to think about. I have heard this version of this song, at least, 30 times. There is never a single time I hear this version of the song where it fails to bring me to tears. A combination of the song itself and the pride I feel in the people creating this beautiful experience. From the first time they stepped onto the larger stage I've been a fan. Watching their journey through all the hardships they endured, seeing their struggles, to see them ending up here doing something so amazing...you can't help but feel a sense of pride in them. It's no wonder Pentaholics are so very, very loyal. This is our group. We feel, in a way, especially for those of us who are a little older, that they're our kids or, at the very least, friends of our kids. Top that off with a song that is so emotionally charged, done in such a raw way... On a slightly different subject: I love the look of the new set. You're right that it's worlds apart from where this all started, man. The look, the set up, the equipment...even the content creator. The growth has been amazing to watch. Great reaction, as always. Can't wait for the next one!
Personally, yes it always makes me stop what I'm doing to focus on listening to it, but it doesn't always bring me to tears...just sometimes it's like "blam!" Out of the blue, and I can guarantee it's almost always Mitch's part. As you said, itxs such an emotional dong, the lyrics are laying bare the feelings of the songwriter and the way they're delivered by the singer is what moves me...the pure vulnerability when Mitch is singing "all I ever learned from love, was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you". I'm not sure it'd be fair to say that _everyone_ can identify with that sentiment but many of us will certainly have been there, and been hurt by people we loved & trusted, but of course the words themselves could easily have been lost in among the awesome "instrumentation". They framed his delivery absolutely perfectly with the drop off from everyone else, like taking a musical pause behind the current soloist, and then the slowly & softly coming back in & building back the volume and intensity. It's **chef's kiss**. They're such masters when it comes to understanding how to make the most impact with their arrangement, and they're aware that that sudden musical pause behind the person who's singing lead commands attention, they know when to use it to it's best: of course, they did it first for Mitch in Dog Days Are Over on The Sing-Off, they do it with Scott in Daft Punk, the second part of Kirstie's solo in Amazing Grace, and Kevin's solos in Imagine, the Evo of MJ, and to a slightly lesser degree his solo at the end of Amazing Grace, too...and, IME every single time, it's effective. It's like pointing an arrow at a certain part of the song and saying "Hey, we think you should pay attention because this is a good bit". But, crucially, like any great superhero, they also know not to over use it because then it would become stale and expected. And that's something you can never say PTX is (unless it's being predictably awesome), part of their musical pause's genius is that you never know it's coming the first time you hear a song.
One of my favourite things is watching people become a cappella fans, esp 1st reactions to this song. I smirk and recall my first jaw drop "omg, that's JUST voice??!!" moments. Re watching it after a bit, it's amazing how it still has that impact.
Good on you for revisiting something you didn't think that you properly understood the first time around. I wish more people had that humility and open-mindedness.
Thanks for redoing the video. I really enjoyed how you put it in perspective on how the song is sung,I really enjoyed it. Great reaction even better than the first time.
One of my favorites by them. They are incredible this song always gives me chills. The bass lines by both Scott and Avi are incredible. I agree about spirit animals and Avi is definitely one of mine...I love them all. As for Home Free my spirit animal is Adam Chance. Great reaction. Love the new set.♥️
Alright, you got me. I subscribed. PTX is a new discovery for me too. The path to Pentaholism has started. So much emotion. Love it!!! I would love to see you react to the studio version of Sound of Silence! And who thinks PTX should do a cover of You Raise Me Up??
I will put up a very not popular statement, headphone are incredible but if you want to be blown away even more, hear this on a 5.1 surround sound system with the bass and high ends pushed to the max... you will "FEEL" the bass and the Mitch-slap. The more you listen the more you find to fall in love with. And the ultimate experience is of course to hear PTX live and the VIP experience is worth every penny, dollar, and the time. just enjoy and go for the whole pentaholic life experience.
Great reaction! So glad you did this. I think we all have that “I can’t believe they’re real” feeling when we first listen to them. I was able to see them live during their Evergreen Christmas tour last Dec. It was exactly as you described it. An actual realization that what you hear on their videos is exactly how they sound live. I think even better live. Love your channel!💕💕
So glad you decided to go back and revisit your first experience with Pentatonix again! Haven't seen the new digs before, and I really like the lighter feel everything has - but I have to say, I miss your "Son of a Mitch!" poster just a teensy bit!
Brilliant idea to go back and do this again. It's impossible to catch all the elements of their extremely nuanced performances on the first go 'round. Plus, you know a group is REALLY good when they keep sounding better every time you hear them. Great reaction, as always!
Tyty, this was my first song with them as well.....Yes I know what you mean.....ear candy as well eye candy . They are a very beautiful group of people. ❤❤❤
Have you ever heard the live version that is posted on their official page? I know you reacted to a live version, but the one that is on their official page which was posted a few months after this one is definitely worth a listen. I think it was filmed during a Christmas special of theirs.
It never stops being good. I'm pretty sure when you did their cover of the Sound of Silence it was a live version. I vote you watch the official video. It's been a while for that too lol
I don't usually watch anything but first reactions but this one was precious. I remember your first Hallelujah reaction and remember saying to myself, oh good a newbie, he'll learn. And you learned spectacularly. Love your new studio! Very professional looking and what I love about it the most is that you are still the down to earth, funny and heartfelt person that you are. In other words, refreshingly REAL!
Thank you saucey dad for this revisit. Hallelujah was my introduction song to pentatonix and your reaction to Hallelujah was my introduction to you as a reactor. I'm very grateful for both. The beauty of this group as people and as artists is indescribable. Your genuine expressions of amazement and appreciation always touches me. And your relaxed humor always makes me laugh! God bless and thank you for doing what you do so well.
I don't remember whether I saw your first reaction to this, but I'm glad I clicked on this one. I love your reactions, Saucey, and I almost cried when Avi was singing. Peace Out, Saucey!
I've heard this so many times and I still tear up and get major chills!! Masterpiece! You gotta go see them live next time they come close! I was so lucky to go see them in Portland last year!
Fun to see you re-react to this. I have to say you have one of the best sound balances of many of the reactors I see. The balance is either with the speaker's voice too loud over the music or the music is loud and you can't hear the speaker. Yours is perfect.
I watched and rewatched many of your reactions, including your original reaction to Hallelujah. I am so happy you went back to it with all of the a cappella experience you have now AND killer headphones. Great reaction (duh). Thanks Nick! 💜💚🧡💛💙🦄
Headphones are a game changer for sure. With headphones you experience things that you never would have imagined listening on speakers. Like in Bohemian Rhapsody when "little high" is on one channel, and "little low" is on the other, you CAN pick up the difference listening on speakers; but you totally get it with headphones. I heard PTX live for the first time(need more) in 2019, it's just wild how there's no real difference between video and live(altho live Kev's beatboxing coming through the speakers will for sure rattle your bones), might have partially been that I was 5ish feet from a speaker; but still).
Please revisit any songs by any a cappella groups you've done under what I consider, hearing inferiority, to this is amazing. I had the same experience when I finally got good headphones; I then had to go and relisten to everything again and again and again 😅.
The difference a decent pair of headphones makes is not to be underrated - I wish everyone in the world could hear music through them, particularly the children. Folks who were a capella fans prior to you tube's existence are rejoicing in discoveries - like yours - of the human voice/music potential
IKR! With headphones you experience things that you never would have imagined listening on speakers. Like in Bohemian Rhapsody when "little high" is on one channel, and "little low" is on the other, you can pick up the difference listening on speakers; but you totally get it with headphones.
When you have free time (hah!) take a look at a reaction by Roberto delli Carri, Vocal Coach, to this and Amazing Grace. He has one of the best, detailed breakdowns of the how and why PTX is so amazing musically. Thank heaven it has quality translation, because I learned so much from his explanation of just how great their abilities are. It is time well spent to gain a deeper appreciation of their musical art.
Yeah so true, Delli Carri its a Master, so yeah, take the time to se his reaction, love his reaction with Amazing Grace, I've seen it several times😆. And at the end: ... i was "mude" but now a "sing"😏 clever change of lyrics 🙈
Love that you went back to this. I was there for the first and I'm here for this! Love to see how far you've come and how things keep growing for you, well deserved. This was the first PTX song I heard amd was instantly hooked. Then I found Home Free through them and was hooked by then too. Then over time I discovered VoicePlay etc and enjoy them all too. All of them are amazing.
I was here for the first time and it was even nicer to be here for this re-watch. I get it, the skepticism. In the case of PTX it shouldn't be possible, but we've learned it is absolutely authentic.
At Christmas you should react to this LIVE from their 2016 Christmas special. The audience makes it even better. Also, when you get the chance could you PLEASE react to more of Avi's solo music ?💜💜 He's my spirit animal too 🥰 and his music is the main reason I'm still here 🙏
Like the new background/look to your channel. The evolution of “Saucy” is great! Well done… You know, I never get tired of hearing this rendition of Hallelujah no matter how many times I’ve listened to it! Because it’s Pentatonix..And they have remained great since the Sing-off 11 years ago. They are the trailblazers who opened that door for A Capella to reach mainstream and this song upgrade is the catalyst which kicked it open. Also, your reactions are still pretty good…😝
I understand what you mean about others disrespecting the groups. There are people on You Tube who don't even pay attention to the song. They play with the dog, look at their phone, and drink their beer, then say "Nah. I didn't like that group." Then they want you to subscribe. I want to ask them why would I do that? I wanted to ask one why they even bothered to post a response. 😕
Amazing every time. A lot has definitely changed with your channel. Your channel was scary before you started listening to them, dark background ect. But now like you said, there are rainbows and unicorns, well no unicorns in your background, but they are nearby.
You have to listen to PTXs recent release of this song live. It's with Matt obviously and he really does the song, and Avi, justice. I miss Avi so much, even though I know leaving was the best thing for him. Check it out please!
I confess With PTX i develop to be more "demanding" with singers now(I am music teacher), i mean i always were demanding but now its worse😐, 'cause they are so good and its very difficult to me to hear someone else to sing this beautifully 😌. I am ashamed as a teacher🙈, damn you PTX!!😆 why are you so great?!
Also the so famous Dimash, its a good singer with a good register, but to classify him as the best singer right now, i strongly disagree.🤷🏻♀️ (Just my opinion).
seeing as how you still need to do the Home Free Sing off journey with the judges and backstories hmmmmm maybe now is the time with the new headphones ?????? giggle did I manage to sound merely curious? or should I have just gone for guilt? ..."I've been sick and had a major pc crash and it would lift my spirits a lot Saucey" *batting eyes looking like a homeless puppy* .... snort laughing.... you did promise months ago giggle ahhh heck , I'm a sucker and will happily keep waiting. I'm a well trained Home Fry. I don't even stomp my feet anymore . Love your channel ! Love your guts!
Don't sleep on Scott covering the bass line when Avi sings the lead
Came here to say this
One reason I love the Xmas special version, thats so clear

If you haven't heard it, you should definitely check out their Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone). Absolute classic...
And Run to you - which they also wrote ☺️
I love the way they do this song. I am so looking forward to seeing Home Free this Thursday night in Stockton, CA
Beautiful reaction, Nick.
I don't remember whether I saw your first reaction to this, but I'm glad I clicked on this one. I love your reactions, Saucey, and I almost cried when Avi was singing. Peace Out, Saucey!
Love how it builds throughout and then the finale…omg…never gets old 🤣🎶❤️🎶
This reaction made me fall in love with them for another time.
I've heard this so many times and I still tear up and get major chills!! Masterpiece! You gotta go see them live next time they come close! I was so lucky to go see them in Portland last year!
Love it. But I still remember you saying you thought PTX were the stand-off'ish divas of a capella and laugh now like I did back then 🤣
Really fun watching this together with you again! Every listen is stunning!
2.0 🙌🙌. Scary clown to rainbows & sparkles 🌈✨🌈✨🌈✨🌈
i love them all too. it's like choosing a favorite child. can't do it.
I love that you love them so much. I watch your reactions over and over. Thank you
Love this!!!!! ❤
It's all been said before , there's nothing left to say 😎
Hey Susan!
@@judithL3100 Hi Judith
I love home free and pentatonix both equally
It’s so nice to just go back to older videos and just listen and appreciate the music. Just soak in the vibes.
That should say “soak n the vibes”
❤️ PTX appreciation videos may need to be a thing - where you rewatch favorite songs. 🥰😍
So Beautiful!
You are 💯 about having quality headphones. My daughter bought me some Beats, it completely changed my music experience
Please revisit any songs by any a cappella groups you've done under what I consider, hearing inferiority, to this is amazing. I had the same experience when I finally got good headphones; I then had to go and relisten to everything again and again and again 😅.
To bad, you had not known, but they were in portland around christmas time. They do a great show.i was lucky enough to go see them
You brighten my days. My daily crack up. I come for PTX and get you to cheer me up. Thanks again!
I second that. The best analysis of their songs I have heard is by Roberto delli Carri. He changed how I hear the song in a better way.
Yeah so true, Delli Carri its a Master, so yeah, take the time to se his reaction, love his reaction with Amazing Grace, I've seen it several times😆. And at the end: ... i was "mude" but now a "sing"😏 clever change of lyrics 🙈
Still my favorite Pentatonix song....
Thank you for doing this one again. This was one of your best reactions ever!!
I never knew you reacted to this again it was so much fun to watch
I was here for the first time and it was even nicer to be here for this re-watch. I get it, the skepticism. In the case of PTX it shouldn't be possible, but we've learned it is absolutely authentic.
I love your reactions!! Lol! this one was very funny!!
You need to react to The Prayer, it’s like a spiritual experience. It’s unlike any of their other songs, it should win them their 4th Grammy.
I did didn’t i?
@@SauceyDad apparently but I didn’t see it on the playlist. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked. Lol
At least listen to the prayer with the new head phones....
At Christmas you should react to this LIVE from their 2016 Christmas special. The audience makes it even better. Also, when you get the chance could you PLEASE react to more of Avi's solo music ?💜💜 He's my spirit animal too 🥰 and his music is the main reason I'm still here 🙏
Nick, you forgot your helmet. And you need more crayons 🖍.
Also, your reactions are still pretty good…😝
💜💜💜
Two words: The Prayer
@SauceyDad check out The Filharmonic, a Filipino-American acapella group
Look at your setup! So professional! 👌
Also, I just LOVE Scott belting at the end. So much emotion and sooooo good
I confess With PTX i develop to be more "demanding" with singers now(I am music teacher), i mean i always were demanding but now its worse😐, 'cause they are so good and its very difficult to me to hear someone else to sing this beautifully 😌.
I am ashamed as a teacher🙈, damn you PTX!!😆 why are you so great?!
Also the so famous Dimash, its a good singer with a good register, but to classify him as the best singer right now, i strongly disagree.🤷🏻♀️
(Just my opinion).
nothing like seeing PTX live
seeing as how you still need to do the Home Free Sing off journey with the judges and backstories hmmmmm maybe now is the time with the new headphones ?????? giggle did I manage to sound merely curious? or should I have just gone for guilt? ..."I've been sick and had a major pc crash and it would lift my spirits a lot Saucey" *batting eyes looking like a homeless puppy* .... snort laughing.... you did promise months ago giggle ahhh heck , I'm a sucker and will happily keep waiting. I'm a well trained Home Fry. I don't even stomp my feet anymore . Love your channel ! Love your guts!
You should listen to Kevin’s Adele medley.
