My friend, I wonder if you would do me a favor? This is going to sound like schmoozing, but it's not. I lost my dad ten years ago this month to Parkinson's, so it's cheering me up to watch my favorite reactors (yes, you're already in my top 10, and I'm not one to say that unless I mean it.) react to songs I request, if they're willing. And to dedicate the song(s) to my dad, Richard. He was a doctor too, and a Captain in the US Navy. And I actually am asking you to do a double feature. If you're willing, I request the first song be "You Raise Me Up" by A Cappella artist Peter Hollens. Josh Groban's version was the Father/Daughter dance song at my first wedding. Dad died a few years later. If you haven't heard or seen Josh's version, check it out first. I expect it's heavily copyrighted, so couldn't be reacted to. But if Josh's version is a 10, Peter's is a 9 1/2. Especially because it's A Cappella.
The second song is as much for you as me. I can't wait to see you react to it. It's one of Geoff Castellucci's solo (and remember, every voice you hear is him) pieces, about family and adventures. My dad took me on so many adventures, in person and in books. Geoff's song is called "I See Fire." From The Hobbit.
Oh dear, there is a prequel to "I See Fire" by Geoff, "Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold." So you may want to make that your first Geoff solo piece, separate from my requests, if you don't mind doing what I'm asking. I won't be mad or unsubscribe if you say no, I have no doubt you're busy. We record our videos a few days in advance and we have a lot on the menu at the moment so we can't promise anything :( BUT we always get our recommendations from the comments section so we do appreciate the request! @@velocityofcl I look forward to watching them. And as a LOTR fan, I must suggest you look up The Hillywood Show's amazing LOTR parody. Sean Astin himself tweeted how much he liked it! It's musical, so you COULD react to it, but if nothing else watch it on your own. I don't think you'll be disappointed! They have a hilarious one for The Hobbit too. If you watch them, let me know what you think. I really think The Hillywood Show, run by two sisters and all fan-funded, is one of the most entertaining channels on UA-cam. They have LOTS of great parodies, and IMO some are better than the movies or shows. (Their "Suicide Squad" one comes to mind!) Anyway, hope you like it. Their Doctor Who one is great too, and Sherlock (Cumberbatch edition) is wonderful! Oh! And do watch to the endings. 😁
As for the You Raise Me Up song, I really hope you can do it. It's breathtaking Dad died on 2/25/14. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for considering it.

Well now, this just made me all kinds of happy! This blew _everyone's_ minds when it first released with how low the lows were and how crazy the highs were and how hard the percussion went and everything else you can think of. One reactor got so excited when Geoff hit that first super-low note that he jumped out of his chair and lost his pants. True story. Reactors were reacting to that and it got very "Inception" after a while. So much fun, and I had a blast watching you enjoy more VoicePlay!
That's the name of the video on Patrol Nation's Channel I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at reactors reacting to reactors.

Qofy is NEVER going to live that down, lol
Jose was not supposed to be the featured artist in this one, but Covid travel restrictions got in the way. Jose agreed to do it at the last minute. Thing is, that rocking belt which was supposed to be for the collaborator did not fit Jose's voice at all. Eli had already recorded the part that we saw Jose sing, so he had to record the belting tenor portion. It isn't a part of his voice that we were used to hearing, we were all astonished!
Drunken Sailor is wonderful, be sure to watch to the very end. Often they make it look like they're done when they aren't.
And for the next Disney piece from the, try the Mermaid Medley. Trust me.

Welcome to the theater kids of acapella! Make sure that you always watch through the patrons because sometimes they have fun little things at the end. Especially when you react to Drunken Sailor
1:32 When Cesar suddenly turns and looks right at the camera.... [shiver] the 4th wall break helps pull you into this haunting scene they are painting. And then Eli follows the camera too and it gets way more intense. I know "looking into the camera" is mainly an acting faux pa, but as a storytelling element it can actually have a purpose by pulling the audience into the scene, making them feel like a part of the story they are observing, like how VP uses it here.
Geoff uses the same technique in Jack's Lament, when he sings the "Scare you" part, he looks into the camera AKA at the audience. He is saying he will scare us too.

Great reaction mate. I do believe that when the lights go red in this video (Time Stamp is 4:12 in your reaction video), the original song ended. The guys wasn't happy about it ending this way so Geoff wrote the last part of the song from scratch. The guy is an absolute genius. Glad you enjoyed this one it totally floored most reactors when it came out. I was on a London bus swaying like I was on a pirate ship! Geoff's range is incredible from subharmonics to full metal scream.

It is a bit difficult to recognize exactly where this comes in the movie. They kind of made it more epic than the original. The first time we hear it in the movie is when they are lining up anyone that had even a tiny connection to the pirates and hanging them en mass. It is begun by a young boy who has to be stood on a barrel to place the noose around his neck. Later in the movie it is kind of used like a password to meet the other high level pirates in Asia.
This really cemented in many of our minds that Eli might seem like a sweet guy, but you really don't want to meet him in a dark alley. IF I recall correctly, I think even Eli said that once he saw himself.
This video really played havoc with a lot of reactors. One jumped up from his chair to leave the room, completely forgetting he didn't have his trousers on. Pretty sure he will ALWAYS wear full clothing after that!
There's been a few reactions after that that he mentioned he was wearing pants; and he mentioned it to friends/family when he's gone back and introduce them to Voiceplay.
So nope he's never going to live it down.

Ah yes, my second favorite Voiceplay song that according to Spotify, I listened to over 43,500 times (or 45,300) last year!❤ Since I sleep with it playing every night. It was my favorite before Valhalla Calling came out! I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I recommend you do "Drunken Sailor" next (Ha ha! I typed this at the beginning of your video!) as it's sort of a sequel to this, and also has the handsome and charming Jose Rosario Jr. as well.

Voiceplay often put something extra in, even if most people don’t notice it. (Or it isn’t seen in the final video). Pirates that weren’t executed were most often branded with “P” so people would know they were pirates. For this shoot, all of them had “VP” scars. Eli’s is the most noticeable (on his hand). Layne’s was on his hand and Geoff’s was on his forearm. But patrons watching the video shoot saw them all!
You’ll love Drunken Sailor, but after that I’m still hoping for Hall of the Mountain King and We Don’t Talk About Bruno.

It was sung by a young boy in the movie and it was shorter. Pirates 3. This was the first VoicePlay video I saw over 2 yrs ago. I sure was sunk after this - had to hear more. You said you liked Disney so: Hellfire (very recent - Hunchback of Notre Dame), We Don't Talk About Bruno (Encanto), The Little Mermaid, Moana, Frozen 2 should give you a start.

I had to laugh at your startled reaction to Geoff’s crazy low note. There was one reaction (by Qofy) that was so funny that other reactors reacted to the song and then reacted to his reaction. He’s still getting razzed about it. It’s worth a look at least.
The three reactors ( King Family, Brad Steele and Patrol Nation) reacting to QoFy are on Patrol Nation's channel in a video called "Inception"...so funny.
@@Denalicat that’s probably the best way to watch because I’m assuming he just shows the reaction to Qofy’s “incident” rather than his full reaction, which is kinda long and gets a little uncomfortable for a couple of the guys towards the end. LOL.

Once you fall into the Voiceplay rabbit hole, it’s hard to climb back out. I’ve followed them for two years now and I STILL keep finding past pieces I was unaware of.
Apart from serving as a summons for the Brethren Court at the start of PotC III, this was also sort of a passcode that Elizabeth used to make her presence known to Sao Feng's pirates later in the film. Some other hard-hitting numbers from these guys are their covers of Nothing Else Matters and Creep.

Fun fact, José was not the original featured singer. Thanks to covid the original featured singer got stuck due to travel restrictions. So they asked José and he agreed; problem José doesn't sing as high as the original featured singer does. So Eli got to learn and recorded yhe part original arranged for the original featured singer while José took the part Eli was supposed to sing.
In the end this turned into one epic song and we got to really see Eli's evil/manic/crazy/haunted/legendary mad man/whatever you want to call it side. 😂

Great reaction. I saw your other 2 reactions As well. Digging your vibe man. You should check out some of their Disney covers. Technically speaking Pirates of the Caribbean is a Disney cover. I suppose, but they're animated covers. The little mermaid and Moana medley are particularly fun featuring Rachel Potter. We don't talk about Bruno. Featuring Ashley Diane was incredible. Side note also featuring Ashley Diane is if I were rich man/girl.
Oh and this song is from. Pirates 3. The little boy starts singing it right before he And his fellow prisoners gets hanged For piracy. The other prisoners pick up the song in solidarity. It's actually quite morbid, but a really great scene. Voiceplay as always, did this song Justice. I think my head exploded 3 times in this song.

Whatever they have done most recently is usually my favorite… For a while. But this remains my all-time number one. To me it’s like watching a really really short opera. We have pageantry, we have drama, we have fantastic costumes and absolutely outstanding music. You hear about the wall of sound - This is a tapestry of sound and the acting ain’t half bad. This is the first time we got to hear Eli really rock out. Before he was always the nice guy with the pretty voice. And then he became the scary guy😳.
If you’re going to follow this up with the drunken sailor video (which I highly recommend) you might follow that up with a trio. Quite some time ago they did a mini which is around a minute long, of the YoHo pirate song from from the ride which is a totally different vibe😂. About a year and a half ago they decided to do a mini of The Wellerman. And recently they did The Last Shanty. Each one lasts a minute to a minute and a half. So it would be very easy to line them up and do one after another and have a binge watch.

FABULOUS response. Thank you! Subscribed/liked. This one totally destroyed a bunch of regular reactors - it represented a big ratcheting up in quality in every area. If you want to laugh your face off, go look at Qofy's reaction. It was so funny it actually turned into a sequence of reactors reacting to reactors reacting to reactors reacting to Qofy reacting to VP Hoist the Colors.
This was one of the first three songs of Voiceplay's I had heard when I began listening to them. Hoist the Colors, Valhalla Calling, and The Dragonborn Comes. I quickly went through all of their older music and newer afterwards. They were a fast favorite and still remain in my top selection of music. There is literally no bad selection of their stuff. Can't wait to see more reactions, I think this your third one I'm seeing.
I don't know if anyone has made this comment yet in any of your vids, but the reason you can hear Geoff going from low to high with ease is he has a 5 octave range. He can get extremely low with his own chest voice without hitting any of the subharmonics, but hitting the subharmonics and letting those vocal folds vibrate, it sounds like an extra octave lower. I'm struggling to reach his range and think I'm about half an octave off. 😂😂😂

In the film the song was sung by a boy on the gallows waiting to be hanged, then taken up by all the other men waiting. It's very simple so it's no wonder you don't recognise it. It's from Pirates 3: At World's End. And yes Geoff goes high too. And just so you know in advance, Drunken Sailor is not about pirates. It's a bt more modern, the time of the whaling ships. Think Wellerman.

When you get a chance you need to check out the trilogy which is Warriors, Dream On and Seven Nation Army (in that order) for the most awesome post-apocalyptic story ever!! Also, a personal favorite of mine, a Geoff solo video, the song is called Shenandoah and he actually did the song for his lovely wife Kathy
I think this is the song in the second film that the little boy pirate starts singing when they are about to hang him and then all the other pirates join in singing.
Pirates 3, at the beginning, the little boy at the gallows starts it. Everybody in the line begins to sing. This is "The Song has been Sung, the Call has been made". Time to gather the Pirate Kings. Calypso is the Queen bound into her bones.

Drunken Sailor is great. So is In the hall of the mountain king. You might enjoy Geoff's solo of Sounds of Silence. He recorded the backing vocals as well, but it shows his range beautifully and there is only one Geoff to look at. Jack's Lament is great for this too. Voiceplay version of Nothing Else Matters should be high on your list too.
