After missing Weller 12 and Full Proof by 30 mins two weeks ago. I was finally able to get a Blantons locally and got a nice surprise, they had a Weller Antique too all at msrp.

I can literally walk across the road from my house and there is multiple bottle on the shelf of Blanton SFTB for $123US.
the only good thing about bourbon in Australia abundant relatively cheap blantons, everything else is obscenely expensive.

Thank you for the review, great as always. I have several bottles of the single barrels and if I see a gold or SFTB on the shelf I will purchase one. But I will not pay secondary prices so I probably won’t see these on my shelf.

One of my top 2 Bourbons, being in Australia it’s easy to find, so this is obviously my pick on the special choices. It opens up an incredible amount with time & becomes a whole lot sweeter.
Great review guys. This is the only Blanton's worth chasing IMO, but if standard Blanton's is sometimes marked up to $200 at some stores, I can't imagine price tags on SFTB! I paid 60 euro for a bottle in Spain, how is it double the retail price in the US?

I love that this is available regularly here in Sweden. Just order and collect. At 90$ it’s the best high proof bourbon you can buy over here imo. I love it!
Blanton's is one of my favorites (FYI - Noah's Mill is also a top candidate for "favorite) but is very hard to find. Blanton's Fun Fact - Disney Cruise Ships have an endless supply of Blanton's. Last September we took a 7 day cruise and every bar on the ship had Blanton's. Day after day they would pull new bottles from under the bar.
From my experience, SFTB needs to open up before it tastes sweeter. Slightly favor this over Stagg Jr batch 13 with both @ 2/3 rds of a bottle. Although I generally favor mash bill 1, I don't really think a slight win justifies the price difference.

Long time subscriber, first time commenter here! Have you considered putting together a series on the different categories of flavor and mash Bill? It would be helpful for this casual taster to hear about the subtle differences between wheated bourbons, high ryes, and others. I know there are flavor wheels out there, but accessible recommendations from each category would be super helpful for understanding the foundation of different styles. If this video already exists then you can just color me stupid and drop a link XD

Just picked one of these up in Australia. $175 AUD though. Saving it for end of lockdown celebrations.
Gotta admit, I just paid $220 on secondary for this at 128.5 proof, but for me it was worth it because the dump date is my birthday and this stuff is capital D-licious and I'll probably never see it again!
Blantons is regularly available in my area at $60 a bottle, which means I can keep it in regular rotation

Im glad you added a few drops of water at the end. I know neat is traditional and in vogue but I really find that a lot of bourbons taste different and often better with a smidge (scientific term) of water. Obviously personal taste but I love how it changes the profile. I think after your second taste adding a few drops and giving thoughts would also be helpful for us out there. Even if you judge strictly on the neat tasting

I’ve seen quite a bit of variance with these. My SFTB 132.3 proof drinks like a BTAC honey barrel with a few drops of water added and less hot than my Blanton’s Gold.
I got chance to try sample of blanton’s SFTB and comparing it with stagg jr n ECBP in my opinion if u want cheaper with greatness buy stagg jr / ECBP ($50 -$65) both are great , want something with uniqueness n boldness , more flavour buy blanton SFTB if u can with paying no more than $150-$175 ( it deserves that price but not more than that) . Personally i felt stagg jr good with lots of flavour on nose and palate but finish is less impressive with short to medium finish. ECBP is harsh with lots of burn in mid palate but has tons of flavour when u add drops of water and great finish. U need water for both of these to open up and make alcohol burn lesser . But with blanton’s SFTB i needed no water to sip it neat even at 60% + abv and its very delicious to sip neat. Finish is medium to long . 150$ retail is high for most of us but the product is good enough to pay that price for but no more than retail or extra 15-20$ . If u want cheaper n great go with stagg jr / ECBP those r great as well.

I haven't got one yet, but have had pours from friends who brought it back from the islands. I would not pass on it at retail. It punches hard compared to the BTAC Barrel Proofs I have tried. I feel it is due to the age(not as old as the BTACs). I do wish BT would add a barrel proof mashbill 2 that is aged 12-15 years to the BTAC collection.

Can’t find Blantons in Houston Texas at all ! Bought a bottle in Midland Texas 2019 it was good at 93 proof but nothing special. $65.00 dollars a bottle then

I was at an estate sale and found this Bottle of whiskey hidden in a kitchen cabinet kinda tucked into a corner covered in dust. I bought it for $8 and googled it and cant find anything on it other than it was last sold in 2018 for over $600. Not sure how accurate this is... Label from top to bottom

If anyone can shed some light on this bourbon it would be greatly appreciated.
The price of SFTB has increased in Japan from $90 to $140 now. It's not worth to pay that much. So, I'll just wait til the price goes back to original price.
I got so lucky to try this. Someone I befriended on StockTwits, literally, I swear to God, just sent me a bottle of this for the hell of it. Yes. For free. It sounds like a bullshit story but I swear it's true. I didn't even ask. He was sending a bottle to someone who I could tell wasn't even in to bourbon and I jokingly told him, "you should send it to someone who who really appreciate it. Like me:). lol". With that he said "what's your address?" I couldn't believe it. Long story short, I recieved it and I must say, IMO, it's the finest bourbon I ever tasted. I never had Pappy so I can't compare. I have had Lot B which is absolutely delicious. But this Blanton's SFTB is liquid nirvana. My favorite bourbon in the whole world. Next pour will be Christmas Eve. Cheers guys!

This is great. I wish I could get Blantons. Have you guys ever thought about doing some scotch on the channel? I know “it’s bourbon night” but why not branch out?
How does this compare to any of the BTAC’s that you’ve had?
Ed Deppenbrook We would say that BTACs are almost always better. What’s interesting is there isn’t any BTAC from their mash bill #2. Should they add a 6th and make it an extra aged SFTB? I know some people would be down for that while others wouldn’t because it would take more barrels away from regular Blanton’s.
