I have a 290x lying around. What I remember when using it it does not reach 90 degrees celsius.. maxes out at around 84 - 86 degrees. It's a Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Tri-X. I also changed out the thermal paste on that one which made it reach about 82 degrees max.

I was just sitting here thinking how cool this thing is for being so old, and how you can just sit and cruise through a game with the temp above 90 degrees Celsius and not bat an eye. edit: if my 6700xt got to 80 degrees I would feel like there must be something wrong it would start distracting me from the game im playing. Its never happened yet tho.

295x2+FX-9590= ultimate retro heater. If you didnt review the 295 yet, I think it would be an interesting one. If not mistaken, it is the most powerful double GPU graphics card, and probably the last with dual GPUs.

Only 30? I use 2560x1600 with FSR on ultra quality, settings are maxed out except fog and colors and it gives me 35-45fps on 290X If I would go with 1080p and no FSR then it's 50 fps 90% of the time

I mean i tried it today in games like assasin creed unity and it was getting suprsring fps or like sleeping dogs the results are crazy not gonna say the fps for surprise but i will say this card did so much better of what i expected pleaae test it soon its been a year now unfortrntly i couldnt find nfs heat on the internet cafe to test that one too and god of war was taking 1 hour to install so i just stopped it but yeah see for yourself i also tried elden ring it went to a white screen with a cursor and crashed but maybe cause these games are cracked they have alot of issues i also tried far cry the results are also good there i think i tried3 4 and 5 and it was surprising gta 4 was running with 25-32 fps at 1600p maximum settings american truck simulator (2016) was getting at 4k almost maximum settings 35 fps shadow of tomb raider 43-27 fps lowest 720p if it wasnt for the gpu glitches in this game it would been good but yes you need to try this gpu againn in many games.
@@zWORMzGaming I think the base clock of the 4770k is only 3.5ghz, but 4ghz with the 4790k. I've also heard that it runs much hotter when overclocking compared to the 4790k causing it to throttle. If you got the 4770k at a great price though, I could understand being put off by the extra 20€.

Hawaii chips not really overclockable sadly, i have an R9 390 with a stock 1050MHz GPU clock and it can do like 1080MHz, tho it runs Cyberpunk better than my GTX 970 xD
I had a reference 290 for many years. Set a custom fan profile with a minimum fan speed of 30% and a maximum of 60%, then undervolt the GPU. That will keep the idle temps in check and wont let the fan get too loud when it spins up. You can go above 60% fan speed but then it goes from pretty loud to hair dryer loud. Give that a try.
I had and Radeon RX 570 8 gb with OC and when i turned on oc it have like 89°C and everythink was completly fine, maybe the radeon was build for high tempectures, i dont know :D

Ew. At this point, finding a replacement CPU to fit in my Socket AM3 mobo isn't going to happen (even used, they're way too expensive), so the 6770'll be gathering dust (that I'll clean out, of course :) until I can afford a new motherboard, CPU and RAM (since, obviously, my DDR3's now useless). Of course, by that point even 2D indie games will probably be unplayable on it. :P

I had the same r9 290 and just set the fans on 80-100percent. That kept my 290 at around 85 degrees and not thermal thottling. Great video as allways

You can make 290 faster than 570 but if both are at the same prices then 570 is a better choice
