I loved how this feud started over Shawn basically telling Vince to grow up and Vince essentially proved Shawn's point by reacting like a complete and total baby.
The WrestleMania 22 match had me laughing from JR’s commentary when he was brought back. The match did better than I expected. All I’ll remember is the birth of McMahonism and telling God to get jiggly with it 🤣🤣
That backstage moment with Shawn and Vince was one of the best. The way Vince sounded like the Devil literally trying to tempt Shawn back to the Dark Side and Shawn standing on principle and refusing. The delivery between both guys, especially McMahon, was pure gold. The match at Wrestlemania later that year was one of the best of the night. Between Shawn overcoming the odds, doing the DX sign at the top of the ladder before diving off, and Jim Ross' hilarious commentary that night, one of my all-time favorite Mr. Wrestlemania moments.
To think this was part of Shawn's small return run, the guy didn't think it would go beyond the Triple H rivalry and here we are in 2006, already 4 years after his return in 2002, and still 4 years away from his actual retirement, and it's incredible to see all the things he did in those 8 years specially when in "Reliving The War" we're about to reach the Casket match that almost ended his career but only took 5 years from it, and we're left wondering how the Attitude Ear would have been with Shawn Michaels around.

Had my doubts about this feud but it was actually quite interesting. This happened as I believe Shawn was supposed to work with Eddie Guerrero at Wrestlemania but he unfortunately passed away. Also I was totally convinced that Bret would show up at Wrestlemania and help Shawn beat Vince.
And Bret was a lot more active at the time unlike his actual 2011 return, he could have pulled some moves and not just stand around waiting for his cue.

Funny story, this was around the final years of me still being a kid and believing kayfabe to a degree. I absolutely HATED Vince for treating my favourite hero Shawn like this. God damn was 2006 just a strange year. This storyline is honestly way more fascinating to look back on, especially Vince's promo about inner peace, in light of recent scandals. I legit wonder what the hell the old man is going to do and how he is going to function without WWE. Anyway, good work as always from Wrestling Bios!
Vince is one of those people who won't give up the wrestling business as long as they are alive. He'll be back as soon as whatever led to this scandal storyline being written is dealt with.
That promo Vince cut in Shawn telling him to go back to the old Shawn was very Devil like. It actually makes sense why he would challenge God later in the story. You covering these storylines makes me appreciate them a little more than I did when they actually happened.

This is the feud I remember most from childhood. I was at Backlash 2006 and that match was awesome live, I had some pictures but they're long long gone sadly
The “inner peace “ thing went over my head as a kid. That’s crazy he actually put that in a promo but definitely should’ve build on that for the storyline
Loved that you covered this feud, especially the beginning portion leading to WM 22 ( First one I ever attended. ) 2006 WWE has this odd blackmark by it for a lot of online fans, and I can partially understand why--- but it does seem overblown for the most part. I loved that year, and have great memories of it. One thing, tho for anyone who hasn't seen the Vince v HBK match live it was fun, but JR commentary was vitriolic and hilarious. Special shout to JR talking about Vince's boardmeetings in hell after he dies and takes over. Lmao.
Looking back, I appreciate now how amazing Shawn Michaels is. Back then it was during the time when new stars Cena, Orton, Edge, Bautista were main eventers, and one would have thought Shawn was past it, but he was simply brilliant. His victory over Cena on Raw in 2007 (if I remember correctly) is the best match I've ever seen, I remember thinking that match should have been at Wrestlemania or something. To me, Shawn Michaels' legendary status was made in this era
I'll give Vince credit for him having the sense to have the other guy in the ring lay in their shots stiff to help cover up his lack of ability and to really sell that the rivalry is legit.
Kinda wild that we got this one match because of Eddie Guerrero's unfortunate passing, as Guerrero vs Michaels was pitched as a possibility for Mania 22. It was an entertaining car crash of a match Michaels vs McMahon, as most No DQ matches that Vince had tended to be, but we will always wonder what a match for the ages that would've been.

I actually liked this feud at it's start, with it leaning into both Shawn's RL religious conversion and Vince's ego. I though Vince was great playing the "Devil as Tempter", and I didn't mind the church segment because it made sense in context. Then, as usual, Vince had to go make it an absurd joke.

Lol. Before this video played a volvo commercial using the music from Summerslam 2006 :D 09:15 That sounds... fairly effin accurate to Vince backstage the last few years at least :P
That's what I was hoping for. It was Rumor that McMahon offered Hart a match where Bret can get revenge by just only Punch Vince and put the sharpshooter on him and win but Bret refused. Plus, Bret didn't still be around Shawn yet and that's why he refused to appear at WrestleMania 22 along with appearing with his Hall of Fame class.

I’ve always found it Bizarre that given his Streak at the Event, The UnderTaker is not regarded as ‘Mr WrestleMania’ as opposed to HBK
I'd say that the nickname of Mr Wrestlemania is too extravagant. A fitting nickname for Shawn
Because HBK just gave himself the name and it stuck. Its was just sh+t tallking at first which then became a thing.
Maybe because every match Shawn had at WM was an instant classic. Not exactly the same with Taker during the initial years of the streak.

Shawn vs Vince was my favorite match from WM22.
I was there for the Backlash PPV and seeing God live was pretty cool.
Mr McMahon And His Son Shane McMahon Is Gonna Screw Shawn Michaels Numerous Times In 2006
The Chairman And CEO Of WWE And His Son Threw All Of It Away From HBK Shawn Michaels!
HBK Got Screwed Over By Mr Vincent Kennedy McMahon And His Son Shane Brandon McMahon For 17 Years Ago!
Vince McMahon may not have the best technical wrestling matches ever but when he did wrestle it was always entertaining.
You been going crazy lately bro 💯
I actually liked this feud at it's start, with it leaning into both Shawn's RL religious conversion and Vince's ego. I though Vince was great playing the "Devil as Tempter", and I didn't mind the church segment because it made sense in context.
Then, as usual, Vince had to go make it an absurd joke.
Its Better to be pissed off than pissed on classic line lol
Never knew this actually happened 🤣🤣🤣 I tapped out of WWE around 2004. Had to laugh when it comes to OTT storylines and daftness WWE know how to do it best 🤣🤣🤣
Same here I tuned out around 01.
@@Rhapsodies_In_Red 👍👍 yeah it did get a bit too silly and the storylines were not keeping me invested
@@Mark-nh2hs this storyline is way better than 2007-2009 tho
If anyone should worry about CTE it should definitely be Vince that chair shot was brutal 😂
I had all but forgotten about this feud, but I remember being really high on it at the time. Also, I had completely forgotten about the Vince vs. HBK and God match. Crazy.
@13:28: "Since December 26th, 2005"...That was my 16th birthday! 😅😅😅
I loved Vince's walk-on theme. Used to sing it to my manager at work, every time he asked if I could stay on a bit longer at the end of my shift...
🎵No chance! You've got...No Chance In Hell!! 🎵
One Of my favourite Wm match .
25:18 - oh yeah, THAT was some Stress Relief, for sure...
Lol. Before this video played a volvo commercial using the music from Summerslam 2006 :D
09:15 That sounds... fairly effin accurate to Vince backstage the last few years at least :P
6:17 If Davari hit Kurt with the chair, shouldn't that have counted as a win?
Wasn’t this the lead in to the DX reunion angle?
If Bret would had attended the wrestlemania, that night could had been the biggest wrestlemania nights of all time.
Thanks for showing me another angle I never knew about . Stopped following around 2004
This was a great video, actually made me want to go back and check out the match.
😄👍
Great video, I remember Vince saying the personal hell thing and then going to commercial, jay onrait of tsn comes on and does a sports update and then says “we’ll get you back to more of shawn michaels personal hell after this” don’t know if he was a fan or not but the way he threw that in their was very typical of him
From secret 80s commentator with Jessie, brain an gorrilla, To 90s villian an screw job , To 00s attitude era an comedic sleeze , !!!!!!!!! Vince is wrestling, Don't care what anyone says , the crowds , the venue's , the broadcast Vince has mostly done it best ,!
