    I have (still) 2 - 1969 Z-28 purchased 1970 & 1972 (= experience w this car)... the one thing most restorations MISS is the slightly lowered raked front end (pro touring stiff springs). The NY showroom Z-28 we're NOT level...dealer option installed springs that lo we ered body to about the front tire white logo .... YES, my front wheels scraped wheel wells during a hard bump turn. Hotchkiss makes stiff springs for lowered front. Also, I have rarely seen the stock driver site remote control (inside cable joystick) installed with proper interior door chrome trim (rare).

    I ran a built up 70 Chevelle 350/300 automatic that ended up at 480 hp dyno hp and if you are building a small block and want a cam that is great through the whole rpm range try the Z28 Phase 3 off road cam and you will not be sorry. That cam was made for road racing and is great at low/medium and high rpm range. My chevelle ran 12.86 in the quarter mile with goodyear soft compound 10.5 inch slicks and would pull the front wheels off the ground. But to be fair it had 90/10 shock's on the front and 60/40 shocks on the rear. 90/10 means that the upward force is 90% and the downward is 10%

    Jeepisking.... the Chevrolet 302 was built from a 4" bore block and a 3" stroke crankshaft with steel full floating connecting rods and 11.25 to 1 compression ratio with a solid lifter, mechanical cam, no hydraulics for this baby...1967, 1968 and 1969 only. It was made to comply with Trans Am racing guidelines and factory rated at 290 horsepower, but actually made over 400 at 7000 RPM. It came with a Holley 780 cfm 4 barrel carb and a 12 bolt posi track rear end and dual exhaust. NO Z-28 left the factory in 1969 with an automatic trans or air conditioning.. so if you see one it's a fake! Awesome car...!!

    Beautiful car , a work of art really the 60s has the nicest cars timeless styling but the 1969 RS Z28 is even nicer with the hide away lights.

    the 302 is the original engine from 1967 to 1969. this engine is probably the best one gm made. pure high performance motor. do the research.

      One of the best small blocks ever made. A thinly disguised race engine. They kept the horsepower down by rating it at a lower RPM to comply with Trans Am ratings. Yet it could be wound out much higher with more torque and horses. Also they put the twin 4 barrel Holleys on it combined with the 411 and 373 rears....the car could flat out fly in the quarter mile. The engine could produce over 400 horsepower.

    Chevrolet produced the 302 cu in motor in model years 67,68,& 69. In 1969 Mark Donahue dominated the TransAm/CanAm series driving a 1969 Camaro Z/28. He defeated all the domestic cars and the Porsche team. I'm not completely sure but I believe it would have been difficult to find an entry from either Mopar or AMC in this series.

    • @Cats.in.Tuxedos
      @Cats.in.Tuxedos Рік тому +1

      Chevy & Ford 302's dominated the Trans Am races in those years - both models were purpose built street racing cars to be showcased as competing marketing centerpieces appealing to younger sporty car buyers.....

    If the Z 2/8 Camaro's you say are selling for 15 to 20K are authentic and have the correct VIN and manufactures plates I would suggest to buy all he has.

      heh, yes.... few #'s accurate remain and because they represent the 'best' of the Trans Am , 7000 rpm, 4 bolt mains street road race cars = their values reliably increase year after year.
