The marker scraping against the paper... has to be the worst sound ever. Good video though very informative, Aflac reached out to me for account manager im trying to find out more about it, this video helped.
Defintley seeing more companies giving Manager and Director job titles away in the hope they can connect with people higher in their clients organisations. Great video ✌️
I'm currently an account executive (not in tech) who is responsible for generating leads - which is new for me. I'm usually a closer for incoming leads. Thanks for this video!
Thanks for some quality content out there! Seems like nowadays AE and AM titles are used interchangeably so it’s hard to spot the difference at times 🤷♀️😅
10:21 However these days, the upselling part is handled by another team known as Account Executives, Expansion. Their job is about how to sell newer features in the product line to existing customers through cold email/calls.
Thanks a lot for your helpful videos! You are doing a great job, keep up the good work! In May I start a new position as Commercial Account Manager in a very successful network company. Since I start directly in the home office due to Corona, I would be happy to see a video with tips on how to successfully start such a role.
Thanks for sharing!. As I know, BD is more about building partnerships with other companies to open their customer base for you, meaning, you are not selling to the end consumer. Right?

Patrick how are you! I’m starting in France in a Business School and my goal is to work in that world, I just discovered your content and it’s terriblement perfect to my aims (honestly I’m gonna pour in on your videos a ton of likes, independently whether you arrive to read this message or not). Could u make a video or talk about how change/vary theses kind of positions among sectors and industries? Thaaaaanks don’t give up it’s a matter of time to be swaying kkkks of people the content and communication is unbeatable!
Hi Partick! Thank you for the very concise and informative video. By the way, I want to ask, for the Account roles why are some companies exclude them from the Sales department and group them within the Customer Success department?
It’s hard to say without knowing the specific situation of the company. But my guess would be to simplify it and have sales people handle multiple roles at the same time. It’s usually large and efficient organizations that can break down each sales role and clearly define its day to day activities for each sales person.
Hey Patrick. Really nice video. Where are Key Account Managers placed? We have Sales Development and Sales Reps (per territory). We want to implement a Key Account Manager (which should not go for short term deals, more for stratetic partnership)
Great informative video Patrick, thank you. In general, what are the progression opportunities for Account Executives? What roles would an Account Executive typically move into?
I’m so nervous lol I have watched a lot of your videos and have been hired as an AE without ever working sales so they just believe in me? But I’m a shy person and not sure how to not shy out of buying signals /: please help 🥺🥺✨
Very well explained man! What's the best degree if I wanna work as account executive in the IT field? IT degree or an Economic field degree? Thanks man
What kind of degree doesn’t matter too much. I’ve seen people get into tech sales with business, economics, political science, or even biology. It’s more about your ability to learn because they don’t really teach sales in college anyways.
you can ask the sales manager or sales director who was in the territory in the past, why did they leave, did they hit their quota the last 3 years, and what does the future outlook looks like for that territory.
The video was great, but the sound of the pen interacting with the paper board was giving me goosebumps. It's quite annoying and preventing me from watching the whole video
Depends on the company and their sales organization. Upselling can be the responsibility of an account manager, account executive, or a customer success team. Sometimes companies will call the same role as different names as well.
That texter writing on the board gave me shivers down my spine
Hated it
Me all the time 😂😂😂

Account Executive is my favorite job in the tech company. Thanks for sharing this video.

Great Video! Thoroughly broken down. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m becoming a territory account manager
This is super helpful
Thanks Patrick, great video! Quick question please, what is pre-sales compared to what you described and where would this "role" fit in? Thanks.
The account manager role fits me best
Awesome to hear, thanks for sharing that!
I can’t wait to start my Account Executive role!

Thank you so much for these videos. Have helped a lot.
Hey Patrick, awesome video. In your opinion, do you typically need AE experience prior to becoming an AM? Selling ERP for example
Thanks a lot for your helpful videos! You are doing a great job, keep up the good work!

Yeah that’s corrects BD is more about partnerships between two businesses vs. the end consumer
GOLD!!!!!!! ✊🏼
Hey, how were you able to land the Account Executive position at Oracle straight out of college?

@LB LB That's a great question. I'll try to make a video around this topic in the future.

That would be account manager, he said it in another video that explains what exactly an account executive is.
The marker and paper sound 😅😬😬😬😖
I know, working on fixing that for next time!
Great video! 👏🏾

@@davideberardini8569 it's a plus, but not always necessary.
Great video - Please get a white board LOL. 😬
If you can skip being an SDR, Do it!!
I just got promoted to AE in 6 months and they gave me no BDR’s …..
Great advice!
Thank you 🙏
Your videos are very in dept hopefully I’ll make a career out of this thank you
Good luck
Thank you for the video. I just have one doubt. Is account manager a higher post than account executive?
Account managers are not higher level. They just handle a different level of the sales cycle. SDRs can go straight into being an account manager.

Is Internal Business Development Consultant similar to Sales Consultant? BTW thank you for the video
What's the main difference between an Account Executive and a "Senior Account Executive?"
Usually it’s experience but you’re still doing the same job. As a senior AE you might be working on larger deals as well.
How do you determine if it's a good or bad territory?
you can ask the sales manager or sales director who was in the territory in the past, why did they leave, did they hit their quota the last 3 years, and what does the future outlook looks like for that territory.
Great vid 🙌🏻
Thank you!
How do I get a software sales job ?
Hey Patrick if I choose to embark in this career will I always be required to cold call. Even if I go higher up the ladder.
No, but it's always good to do your own prospecting even if you have an SDR.
The video was great, but the sound of the pen interacting with the paper board was giving me goosebumps. It's quite annoying and preventing me from watching the whole video
Nice video. But: we are in 2021. Do you really still need to waste paper to explain a concept?
Fair point, maybe I’ll try the dry erase board. Paper is easier for the viewers to see which is why I used it to begin with.
Im enjoying it but the scratch noise on the paper is pulling through my teeth , a white board would have been better
I thought post sales including upselling existing customers is the job of the customer success team not sales manager
Depends on the company and their sales organization. Upselling can be the responsibility of an account manager, account executive, or a customer success team. Sometimes companies will call the same role as different names as well.
NGl...i stopped watching the video in the middle only cuz of the marker sound...
you got some wide boulder shoulders bro LETS GO
