Loving The Boondocks tee. And up until now, didn't know I needed one.
The movie had potential but it was so confusing. It’s hard to get into a world when they don’t really explain anything. Like where did the demon come from. What’s it backstory. The jumpscares and it being scary itself were good but the story made no sense.
Everyone talking about Nick's shirt but Joseph's shirt looks like its made of super comfortable material.
It is comfy.

So this movie was completed in 2019 and Miramax wanted reshoots - which happened 4 years later. Did this get picked up by Vertical from Miramax because of the Pope's Exorcist?

Did they market this movie at all? I had no idea it existed until last night.
I really hope that Russell Crowe is not entering the geezer teaser era of his career. I'm a fan of horror and I've seen just about every Russell Crowe movie (well, Hollywood movie anyway) so figured I'd give this a chance. Nice meta moment with Sam Worthington who for a brief moment was seen as Crowe's successor after the success of Avatar but which didn't really pan out. Crowe was good here just as he was in Pope's Exorcist (even his accent in that film surprised me), but the movies were fairly mediocre. I noticed this movie is getting savage reviews from audiences who appear to hate it even more than critics. I didn't think it was that bad, just extremely formulaic at the end. As a fan of Russell, I hope he gets back into decent shape because he's been looking kind of unhealthy lately to the point where it may be limiting him.
Anyway, as poor as Pope's Exorcist was, it at least looked like it was attempting something different with the subgenre with its injection of humor. The final act of this is as cliched as it gets.
Russell Crow is a freaking amazing actor … He gets it !!!

Interesting that Russell Crowe was drawn to two scripts involving exorcism. Too bad he didn’t show up in the recent Exorcist movie. Here’s hoping he’s cast in the upcoming Exorcist sequel. Let’s really confuse everyone! And you know what? I actually liked The Pope’s Exorcist AND Exorcist: Believer, so I’m all in for this one too.
There are so many folks out there who think this movie is a literal remake of The Exorcist.🙄
I thought this was a re-release of the exorcist movie he did last year, so I understand the confusion. lol

It sucked
This is possibly one of the most badly cast movies in history. Everyone was so unattractive I walked out. It's impossible to get lost in a movie universe when you're completely repulsed by the cast. I'm like if that was my daughter I'd be like yuck go away.
What are you talking about? Although Crowe is physically past his prime, I thought most of the cast was fairly attractive.
@@politefan8141 They were barely on the cusp of average looking. The tumpy daughter was completely unsympathetic and the girl that played Linda Blair's part was like, huh? Linda Blair had the very specific look of people from a very specific time. The lumpy woman that played her was completely not credible. Linda Blair was 12 this is a 40 year old black woman with four kids at home and a job at a check cashing store. The goal is to suspend reality and transport you to a different world. The casting did not do that.

Just saw this today. Umm, i can let a lot pass but could not overlook some things:
1) Dad (Tony) has got some weird stuff going on. We feel safe in the home with him?🤔
2)He went all possession in fron of the whole cast and crew. How is he not hospitalized/committed? 🤔
3)He killed a whole person! Oh well, show must go on. We not gone close the set?
4) How was dear old dad not in prison...just a "I want you to know i love you" and we're off to smooth sailing towards healing. No biggie🤔
I didnt go in thinking this film would have major depth, but give me a lil something!

When I saw this movie was scheduled at the cinema, I thought, why are they remaking it? It took me a week after that to figure out that actually, this was not an Exorcist remake but a new movie called The Exorcism. 🙃
The movie was definitely better than expected.

Love Crowe in some but especially The Insider, Manns best work. Crowe and Pacino were sensational and mesmerizing. You know, if you're oldcenough, the story but it's still so full of tension.
