I think most classic country fans love C W McCall's song Convoy. But you could make some people laugh with a piece of Wolf Creek Pass. That song didn't make the radio near as often but it was funny. "Sign says clearance to the twelve-foot line But the chickens was stacked to thirteen-nine"
Never thought I would see Weird Al either but he is a super talented borderline genius musician. And the the king of Pop parody! And Achy breaky fit the theme perfectly.
Another great and entertaining episode, thanks Kevin for doing them for us. How about some more humorous tunes from Canada - Corb Lund & my friend Jaida Dreyer "Horse Poor"?
As another Canadian I thought of Bud The Spud by Stompin' Tom Connors. Another Roger Miller song for this collection is Do-Wacka-Do. Since you mention a song written by Bill Anderson here is one more for you by Bill. It is the song called Peel Me A Nanner.
Binge-watched all seven episodes of Crazy Country Songs in one night! I love all country music from the 1920's to the 2020's. Country music for me was all about story songs years ago. Some of my favorite funny story songs: The Winner by Bobby Bare, The Day I Jumped From Uncle Harvey's Plane by Roger Miller, Classified by C. W. McCall, The Little Lady Preacher by Tom T. Hall, and Who’s Gonna Run the Truck Stop in Tuba City When I’m Gone by Leroy Van Dyke.
a few more you might want to look into, all by the Arrogant Worms (a Canadian band). "Lonely Lab of Broken Hearts" (a "she left me" one with a scientific spin). "Trapped in a Country Song" "Particle Board" (sort of heavy metal country).
My coworker said something that reminded me of what I thought was a 70"s song. Come to find out, 'The Willis Brothers' released "Give Me 40 Acres(and I'll Turn This Rig Around. " in 1964.
It seems that your name is popping up everywhere these days, Nicole Jewell. I know that you love John Schneider and this truly is one of his funniest songs. I like it too.
Playing Charlie Daniels' "Uneasy Radio" reminded me of an updated version called "Uneasy Rider '88". That's a good one. Since you mentioned Pinkard and Bowden, how about "Driving My Wife Away"?
There's more crazy country songs by the legendary Stompin Tom Connors. My first time hearing him was was in in music class. The song was Bud The Spud. There's also Moon Man Newfie and The Bug Song
I was just thinking about a George Jones song the other day, High Tech Redneck. That also got me thinking about another Cletus T Judd song, which also has the legendary Buck Owens, I think was called First Redneck on the Internet.
I am not sure if this counts as being a country song, but in the mid 1970s, there was this Norman Lear show called Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman where an actress named Mary Kay Place was a country singer and one of the songs made it to the charts. The song was Baby Boy which describes her manager, who happened to be her lover and he was as old as her father. She must have really enjoy his bald head. LOL
I love that song. It's the reason l started watching that crazy show. On the show, her character was named Loretta Haggard. Do you remember her & Willie Nelson did a duet? "Something to brag about."
Its funny just yesterday I was wondering when the next would be. Another great Cledus T Judd (No Relation) song is "Its a great day to be a guy" I feel like if you were doing Dean Carters "Did I shave my legs for this" You should have paired it with Cledus "Did I shave my back for this" I would have suggested Lobster and never flounder, but you referenced it in a previous video or so I thought. Ray Stevens to cover The haircut song Next time how about Alan Jackson and Jeff Foxworthy "I'm married to a waitress" (I don't even know her name)
I think I've said this before, but it bears repeating: I'm not going to recommend any specific songs for future chapters because I figure if you do enough chapters you'll cover pretty much every single one of them anyway. Thanks man, keep 'em coming!
I do eventually get to most of them. After episode 10, I am thinking about taking a little break from the CRAZY songs and start a possible series on drinking songs. Like crazy songs there are so many!
As a nascar fan one that comes to mind for me is Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith... Johnson, Jr. by Tim Wilson
Apologies if you've mentioned him in an earlier installment and I just missed it, but I'd love to see you check in on Don Bowman, in particular "Hello DJ" that features his side of a phone call to Ralph "Grand Ol' Opry" Emory himself. Not sure if an unbleeped version actually exists, but I figure you'd know if anyone.
We need more of these all the time! I'm losing track of what you've shown, but The Bird by George Jones is great and The F Word by Hank Williams Jr & Kid Rock is amazing!
Do you or anyone else remember from the early 70s Ray Stevens recitation called, "The phone call from Heaven." We had the album but Dad took the album(early 2000s) out of the house & never brought it back home.
@CountryMusicTimeMachine The phone call from Heaven was played on the radio stations even though it was over 5 mins long. It was very popular, but it seems like no one today knows about it. It's about God talking to a guy(Ray Stevens) about why he doesn't go to Church, tithes, pray, etc. & the guy keeps making excuses for himself.
While Jerry Reed was best known for comedy songs, he did write one beautiful ballad - A Thing Called Love (ua-cam.com/video/uZfP5DKRxn0/v-deo.html). I think both Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash covered the song.
Could you please play peel me a nanny taws me a peanut by Roy Drusky or Blue Cycle by Ray Steven’s thank you for the great music you are playing great job 👍👍
I have always liked Uneasy Rider. I think partially because one night thirty some years ago I had an experience in my life that I could relate to that song. I wasn't driving a chevy but was driving a very fast 68' Pontiac Firebird and that car is why the guys pursuing me from a local bar didn't get a hold of me.
@@CountryMusicTimeMachine I had to sell that car many years ago when I was raising three daughters. I just bought another 68' Firebird. I tagged it three days ago.
I did and it is a good song. I learn more and more doing these videos and especially that South Africa makes some good country music. That song has a popish flavor to it but probably more country than some "country" songs released today.
@CountryMusicTimeMachine The song was on the weekly program of country music called "Gentle on my mind" in South Africa. You should listen to "Barbara's Daughter" by Vangie Coker . It's a really sweet song.
Everyone of these is deserving, but I have 2 problems. You should have had Deanna Carter first and followed by Cletus "did I shave my back for this?". The other problem is not following "uneasy rider" with "uneasy rider 88".
Kevin, you assume that I am very smart and could actually pull off great segues like that. But it is a great flow to do something like that! I will hopefully remember it for future reference!
Kevin, been enjoying this series, keep them coming. Let me throw a few more into the mix of suggestions - Ray Stevens - "Help Me Make it Through the Night" (a twist on an old standard in a way only Ray could do it) Buck and Buddy Alan Owens - "Pffft you were gone" (As a fan of Hee Haw, you'll remember the chorus) Buck and Buddy Alan Owens - "You're a Real Good Friend" Buck Owens and Ringo Starr - "Act Naturally" Hank Snow - "I've Been Everywhere" (of course I'm fond of the Statler Brothers version, as it gets crazier the faster the song gets in latter verses)
Great suggestions. Stand by for a version of "Pffft you were gone" in Episode 8. I relate it to a real life experience! That episode comes out on Sept 5!

Bob and Bobby Thomas “Nashville Guitar Picker” from Kapp album “Saturday Night at The Old Barndance “

Brad Paisley… Alcohol 🍷 😊. Just found this channel and really enjoyed the Crazy song memories 😉
Thanks Carol!
"My Kind of Music" and "Those Jeans" by Ray Scott are both hilarious.
Boy I never expected to see Stompin Tom on here but boy does he deserve to be! Fellow Canadian here.
I like him!

Checkout My Wife Thinks Your Dead by Junior Brown and There Ain't No Trash In My Trailer by Colt Ford for your next show..
"Another puff" by Jerry Reed
Achy Breaky Song made me think about another parody my Shep Wooly, better known as Ben Colder, called Shakey Breaky Car
I fully acknowledge that you acknowledge us! Stompin' Tom for the win! Listen to Corn Flakes sometime.
Cleatus does several Shania parodies, Shania I'm Home and others.
Great songs
Thanks so much!
My coworker said something that reminded me of what I thought was a 70"s song. Come to find out, 'The Willis Brothers' released "Give Me 40 Acres(and I'll Turn This Rig Around. " in 1964.
loved that one
You should include Buck Owen's song Hot Dogs, even though I was raised on Buck Owen's music I had never heard his song Hot Dogs
Brokenheartville by Joe Nichols
Don't forget RaY Stevens "Super Cop".
Kevin Fowler's Santa got busted by the border patrol"
It seems that your name is popping up everywhere these days, Nicole Jewell. I know that you love John Schneider and this truly is one of his funniest songs. I like it too.
Cletus t also does a great parody of that Deana Carter song call did I shave my back for this?
Ok,maybe not a crazy county song PER SE. But how about -"DO you want Fries with that" by Tim McGraw. Love the series by the way
It's a good one.
Can we get one a feller from my home state of SC, Aaron Tippons Kiss This!
I was born in California. Raised with my Dad on a base in Japan but most of my young life was lived in Myrtle Beach! I love AT! He is a great guy!
Playing Charlie Daniels' "Uneasy Radio" reminded me of an updated version called "Uneasy Rider '88". That's a good one. Since you mentioned Pinkard and Bowden, how about "Driving My Wife Away"?
To add to the Ray Stevens train... a good one from way back is Harry the Hairy Ape :D
I'm working on a special episode with only his story and music.
There's more crazy country songs by the legendary Stompin Tom Connors. My first time hearing him was was in in music class. The song was Bud The Spud. There's also Moon Man Newfie and The Bug Song
He's good!
How about Ghost Chickens in the Sky by Leroy Troy
Watch for it coming up in episode 8, if my memory is working today.
I was just thinking about a George Jones song the other day, High Tech Redneck. That also got me thinking about another Cletus T Judd song, which also has the legendary Buck Owens, I think was called First Redneck on the Internet.

Another song I saw online is .... I don't look good naked anymore! Pretty crazy.
I've heard that one and it is a good one!
I just came here to suggest that song! Check out any song by Sheb Wooley (aka Ben Colder).
Girl on a Billboard by Dave Dudley is funny
Its funny just yesterday I was wondering when the next would be.

Ray Stevens to cover The haircut song

Hoyt Antonio, deller and dealer

I think I remember that one
Too Fat Polka by Arthur Godfrey.
Have you done Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen? Not sure if I heard it in your videos?
Not yet.
Please checkout John Schneider's version of Good ol Boys....
How bout uneasy rider 88?
Great video. Another good one to add would be Tracy Byrd and friends "The truth about men".

I will check it out.

Another canadian, Anne murray- Hey daddy.

ants on a log
Hello from AZ
Howdy!
We need more of these all the time! I'm losing track of what you've shown, but The Bird by George Jones is great and The F Word by Hank Williams Jr & Kid Rock is amazing!
I thought "the bird" was by Jerry Reed, or is it a different song?
@@ednafenton7558 Different song: ua-cam.com/video/FirpJUhrpAY/v-deo.html
Do you or anyone else remember from the early 70s Ray Stevens recitation called, "The phone call from Heaven." We had the album but Dad took the album(early 2000s) out of the house & never brought it back home.
I know he had one called "No Lawyers in Heaven". I can't find that one but found one similar, ua-cam.com/video/YdxiQSQdkSo/v-deo.html
Gonna keep asking for Bobby Bare's Food Blues, actually half of my diet comes from that song, beer and whiskey occasionally wine.
Stay tuned brother. I will start a possible new series soon that will cover 2/3 of your diet! I might need input!
Thank you Kevin for another great episode, love these, they make me smile and laugh 🤣😂🤣 🇬🇧
Thank you Heather. When I edit these I often laugh my butt off and it takes a long time to finish them!
While Jerry Reed was best known for comedy songs, he did write one beautiful ballad - A Thing Called Love (ua-cam.com/video/uZfP5DKRxn0/v-deo.html). I think both Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash covered the song.
I remember a song by the late great Jounny Cash, I think it was called One Piece At A Time about working at a Cadillac Factory
I think I had that one in Crazy Songs 4!
Could you please play peel me a nanny taws me a peanut by Roy Drusky or Blue Cycle by Ray Steven’s thank you for the great music you are playing great job 👍👍
Uneasy Rider '88 was the much funnier sequel!
Weird Al also did a parody of The Devil Went down to Georgia called The Devil Went to Jamaica
I will check that one out!
What was the comedy thing you played at the very beginning of the video?
He is a funny guy. ua-cam.com/video/KpSg8PfPQlU/v-deo.html
I have always liked Uneasy Rider. I think partially because one night thirty some years ago I had an experience in my life that I could relate to that song. I think this oldie from gorge Jones finally Friday would be a great on the next one
Another great song. I used to play that every Friday at 5pm when I worked the afternoon shift on the radio.
Have you put the song "Kaw-Liga" by Hank Williams on the list or the song "Please Mr Custer" by Larry Verne?
Not yet
Or maybe All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth by Spike Jones?
Cledus has done Shania I'm Broke and Did I Shave My Back for this.
How about Brokenheartsville by Joe Nichols
Love that song!
The JS song at the end was worth watching the whole thing. That was just awesome!!!!
Oh yes. It hits personal for me too! Ha ha
Have you featured The King is Gone by George Jones yet? That seems to fit this flavor of video.
I haven't but it's coming!
Did you do CW McCall Crispy Critters or Old Home Filler-Up an’ Keep on A-Truckin’ Cafe both funny songs
I haven't yet
Love these!!!
C W MCALL CRISPY CRITTERS
Kevin you forgot about men are like shoes by Shania
Wow! I never heard that one. It might make me cry!
@@CountryMusicTimeMachine it should be on the list for a future video like this.
Deanna Carter's name is pronounced DEENA, not Dee Anna. :)
Hopefully she will forgive me.
Question for you. Who in country music had the most expensive music video?
Wow. I will study that one. It probably wasn't Ray Stevens or Cledus T. Judd haha.
Men the Forrester sisters
I LOVE the Forrester sisters!
What about Cletus t Judd song I love Nascar or my cellmate thinks I'm sexy
I did the Nascar song in a prior episode and will check out the cellmate song.
Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash.
