Greetings from Florida, USA! I have been to Mogao and Yungang, but not to Dazu. Amazed by how few people there are, indeed a great enhancement of one’s experience. Fantastic video.
So much history in one place, it's just breathtaking, China it's unbeliavable. Another amazing video Nick, thank you for showing us this amazing places!
I have only heard of the Dazu Rock Carvings. From your video, I saw the sheer scale of it, which is really shocking. After watching a lot of your videos, I found that you are interested in Chinese Taoism and Buddhism. This is really interesting.
I'm so surprised you mentioned Liang Sicheng. I followed the Linliang Road route and completed a tour of ancient buildings in southwestern and central Shān xi.
If you don’t mind inconvenient transportation, sculptures in Mingshan Temple (茗山寺,又名 虎头寺) and Yuanjue Temple (圆觉寺) from this region are also highly recommended, 四川省资阳市安岳县.
As Chongqing properly is one of the most popular destinations for chinese tourists, I guess in summer hollidays this place have to be a bit crowded at least
Yeh it will be much busier in the peak season. But most people who visit Chongqing (the city) won't make the journey out here I guess, no train links, a 2-hour bus ride one way...
Nick, at 3:17, a statue shows its fingers. I saw a fine stick or iron wire in its right little finger. Most likely you did not see the same thing. Yet it means a lot to Chinese history. It might worth to visit the same site again with an ultra-sound instrument to detect whether the stone carvings were hollow. Or to tap the belly of those statues with your fingers to hear echoes which confirms hollowness of the statues.
A very interesting place indeed. We would certainly like to see more of the artwork and a bit less of your talking head. Please try to do more voiceover and less "Look at me me me". Thanks.

I actually went to Mogao. There is a Dunhuang video on the channel. Mogao is superb...can't film inside the caves though
The 群像is cool af !!!! Really
I agree. Super cool
This truly makes the jaw drop just from watching online, do you have any literature to reccomend regarding areas like this in China?
There is a book called 'Chinese Architecture' by Nancy Steinhardt. That book has given me a lot of ideas and inspiration for places to visit
Thanks! i will check it out @@nickinchina2552
So amazing!!!!
Será muito bom ver as esculturas enquanto você fala😊obrigada ❣
Most of these were carved during the Tang dynasty around 700+AD.
At Beishan most are Tang, but at Baodingshan (the most famous of the dazu caves) they are Song dynasty...a little bit later. Beautiful

i am thankful my early buddhist education included the mantra, we're all going to dazu tomorrow, where we can play all day.
Is that a real mantra? 😂
we're goin' to dazu, -zu, -zu,
you can come too, too, too
how about you, you, you
we're goin to dazu. amitabha.
Amazing
Fantastic place!
This one is less well known, maybe because it’s much newer. All other three are northern Wei dynasty
True, they are also right on good transport links too. A bit more of a mission to get to this one
👍👍👍👍👍👍

Good day Sir
没看见千手观音么,那是这儿的灵魂。

我觉得Nick老师已经做的很好了。要知道很多古建筑不允许📷,不许飞DJ,更何况外国人去一些生疏的地方拍视频可能会有更多误会🫢
yes boss
@@nickinchina2552 keep it nick's way, don't change.
