Please tell me, I have Hyperx Cloud Orbit S, is there a difference between Penrose and Mobius? Why do they have phasors, but I don't? I don't need a wireless connection, but just if the sound is better, is it worth overpaying??
The 3D isn't a gimmick so much as niche. It's invaluable for mixing music - the original purpose of Waves NX - and it makes music much more listenable and enjoyable by yielding *very* wide separation between instruments, plus the head tracking makes directionality much easier to process. The Mobius has strong interaction with my synesthesia unlike every other headset I've used. For gaming, I'm able to shift most of my focus to auditory target acquisition and use visual cues only for finetuning shots. There's a certain kind of joy in diving a group of enemies and making like a Beyblade.
Thanks for the comparo. BTW, can you use the Mobius earpads on the Orbit S, and vice versa? Are they interchangeable? Audeze does sell spare earpads for the Mobius, but HyperX does not for the Orbit/S. This info could be useful for Orbit users who want replacement earpads! Also, in a nutshell, is would appear that the Orbit S is a Mobius without the BT And the Orbit is a Penrose without the Wireless/BT.....
Here's the *key factor... for devices like the PS5 now out, connecting via usb-C to C, Type C to A or 3.5 mil jack, allows the tempest to use the 3d/VSS features w/o forcing the Audeze 3d software.... That proprietary boom on the mobius doesn't allow for something like the Vmoda Boom/Pro if the Cloud's mic isn't to your liking... and that is where the staple is... Since Tempest is at a *system level, it can manipulate frequencies even on 2 channel stereo and you think your hearing 3D/VSS (the addition to height and depth/ spacial) but your really not... so having the assumed sound of the Pulse, w/ a better build, 100mm Divers, and Clarity of Mic/ Voice accuracy options, allows the Orbit Vanilla to be the all round best in all categories... (the Pulse arguably plasticy, but that doesn't bother me as much as the muddled chat) Wireless chat is *terribly compressed and diffused... So as long as you get yourself an AC USB converter (for charge if using the 3.5 when needed) you have all qualities as good as you could ask for with flexibility... bluetooth headsets are tired to me now as they simply fail time and time again somewhere tbh & imo it's definitely mic quality.

So, from what I have heard on the review of them both, the microphone seems to be slightly different in frequency response. Can you confirm if they are different microphones or if it's just the headset processing? The Mobius sound fuller, more a flat sound with really good bass and not irritating, whereas the Orbit S seems to be de-emphasize the bass quite a bit and sound a bit hollow and sibilant. Just as a bonus if you have one around, can you plug the mod mic into it? Great reviews and always good on testing the mics!
I bought the hyperx orbit (not the orbit s) because they both have 3d audio but the orbit s has the kinda gimmicky head motion tracking function, which could be cool for vr, but other than that I feel not really that useful. Mobius looks great but not worth the premium imo, but honestly all great headsets, with amazing sound quality, they do need a little bit of a break in period though especially if u have a big head, other than that it's premium build and sound make it something worth considering. I got the hyperx orbit to replace the Astro a40 with mix amp, the hyperx sound better, and while I think they may feel a little heavier, they are more comfortable in regards to the headband, the Astro really hurts the top of the head due to lack of padding. However the Astro has less clamping force which is nice. Overall both great, but imo, the hyperx has better sound, better head comfort, solid build, and looks suitable to use with your phone without looking weird. The Astros are lighter, sound good just not as good, have nice control layout with the mix amp, and less clamping force.
The head motion tracking feature is based on years of research. The idea is not that when playing a game, you are going to be moving your head a lot. But even when you are facing a single monitor, your head is always slightly moving. i.e. there are micro movements. The brain uses these micro movements to perceive the directionality of the sound. The goal of any 3D rendering algorithm (WavesNX, DTS-X, Dolby Atmos etc) is to make it appear as if the sound is coming from outside your head (externalization). When you add head-tracking, the externalization is much better than when not using head-tracking. After a few minutes, you forget the head-tracking is even on. With both OrbitS and Mobius you can easily check this out by simply turning of the head-tracking functionality. Here is a research paper that discusses the benefits of head-tracking in 3D algorithms. >> www.shorturl.at/cfkMN

ok. There's a noticeable difference between hi-res headsets and those that aren't in my experience. But you're entitled to your opinion.
Yeah, I meant the recordings being played back. The hi-res-marketed hardware could be better for a million reasons, but it's not because of the 'hi-res' formats themselves.
That's absolutely wrong, and shows lack of understanding of the most basic concepts in audio. Sample of rate (44khz) and frequency response (20k) are two different things. Please educate yourself before confidently making ignorant statements
battery battery battery buy a extra battery learn how to replace them if you own this if not you will not have them long
They decided to drop Bluetooth... amazing. Due to my use case, that is an instant “nope” from me. Looking for Bluetooth closed-backs with Hi-fi.
i think you are deaf if you cant distinguish the sound quality between those two lmao.
Is that right? They're basically the same headset. The HyperX is essentially just a reskinned Mobius with less features
No Bluetooth? Hell no lmao
😂😂
Thnx... I need subtitles in spanish :c pls!!
