We are definitely living in the Twilight Zone, that’s for sure. Check out the Mandela Effect sometime. For one thing, it’s now always been possible to swim from Papua New Guinea to Australia. Not sure why we even refer to Australia as the ‘land down under’. Chile is further ‘down under’ 😂
Love these things. I own two now. One operates as a Linux server and the other one runs HoloIso. It's not going to smash FPS records, but it will play most things I care about acceptably at very low power and noise. Only complaint is how hot my USB thumb drive got in it. My units were $329 USD from Amazon, far and away the best performance per dollar in its class.
I bought 2 of these and made a proxmox cluster from them. works great! And I just got a ser 6 with newer Ryzen chipset to replace an aging Hades Canyon
:) WELL DONE! I just got 1 a bit ago, and upgraded RAM and SSD myself with 64Gb and 1 Tb respectively. So far, LOVE it1 for such a small Form Factor, has replaced my desktop tower and HP Aero Laptop. I have not had the USB issues you mentioned, so fingers crossed :) ALL the Best and Cheers from Pacific NW in US!! :)
My next PC will probably be one of these mini ones. They’re getting to where they are powerful enough for my needs. I don’t really play modern games, at least not the demanding ones, so the space saved would be great. Too bad about the front USB. That definitely needs to be addressed.
Content aside, Phil, I'm guessing it's natural light but it makes this video look very easy to see vs. some of the artificial light I think you use but all your videos are good. Content is awesome as always, Phil!
Honestly a really good deal for the price! I’m currently running a home server on a Mac mini 2012 (i7-3615QM) so I think something like a Beelink like this one will be a potential successor.
Would love to see a video on Atlas and how it improves Windows 10 performance on small formfactor pcs like this or even older Core2Quad to 7th gen i-Series chips.
I have this exact model for 3 weeks as I write this running dual monitors and using a USB expansion hub. I only play the The Sims 2 with minimal issues save for modding to be compatible to run 1600X900 single monitor.
You're having some humming in the audio, sounds like a ground loop. Although I would just add a notch filter in post editing :) Great video as always Phil! :)
As for the USB not working, it could be that the USB ports have some kind of load protection, try a USB Y cable, where one end goes to the MiniPC and the other to an external source. Great video!😉
I ordered myself a GEEKOM Mini IT12. My plan is to use it w/ an eGPU in the future for local, reasonable "modern-ish" gaming. When it arrives, I'm going to use it for Steam Link from my main gaming machine. Will also use it as a Plex renderer. Went with an Intel model over an AMD equivalent mini PC so I could use USB4 (Thunderbolt 3) for an eGPU. Not many AMD based mini PCs offer TB3/4 for eGPU usage. At least not that I found.
Great video 🥰👍 I love these mini PCs and the power💪 and portability they offer 🤯. Pure speculation here, but the usb issue is seen as a more common issue (dropouts and lower speeds) on Ryzen based PCs for a number of users, but personally never experienced myself🤔. It maybe a chipset bandwidth issue or driver issue…… also, the GPU artifacting looks like either an overheating issue or driver compatibility issue 😥
Really cool machine. I would use one to replace a standard PC, really inexpensive compared to putting together a new machine made from purchased parts. One question would be: what about realiability / durability? Have you used this kind of PCs in a daily basis for a considerable time? And the other one: does Beelink really ships standard units with Crucial memory and Kingston SSD? Some reviewers on Amazon mention that purchased units through retail channels come with parts different from reviews. Cheers
I bought one of these for my Dad, the 16GB version for £350. He has a Phenom x2 Windows PC and he wanted an upgrade. Hopefully this plus Win11 will last him a long time!
9:40 this may or may not be related to your USB problem, but I've got a handful of laptops with similar chips in them that have issues with USB disconnecting randomly.
I am thinking to get one of this model. My only concern is from Amazon reviews, about 7% of the reviewers give it one star. A majority of these reviewers claim their units died with in about 1-1.5 year. How the owners of this mini PC model feel about its build quality? Do I need to buy extended warranty? Thanks in advance for your advices!
Great video on a mini pc I purchased myself the other week without the issue you had. Mine had 16GB (2x8) at 3200mhz though! Quick question, I also have 32gb (2x16) ram at 2666mhz at home. Is it worth putting 32gb slower ram in or remaining with 16gb faster? Thanks in advance.
I had the same thought, but I expect the motherboard isn't supplying enough power to the USB ports for high power devices. The solution there is to use a powered USB hub.
Just a heads up! I'd appreciate if you'd put a high pass EQ on your microphone. There's a terrible hum at about 120Hz that's easily edited out, this will also help with your plosives

did you make sure the power draw of your test USB drives are in spec of the USB ports? i know max current of USB3.0 (or whatever its new stupid official designation is) is 900ma, not sure on max current of USB versions above this are.
Hey Phil! I've noticed flaky USB3.0 connection too on my desktop (!) whenever I use HDD/SSDs with the front ports. It could be the way these ports are connected to the MB (in my case they're not soldered-on but use a cable to connect to the front ports. This might not be stable enough for hi-speed drives). The back ones work perfectly every time.
I've noticed all the review units are showing off quality brand name ram and ssd. If you open one up you buy yourself it will likely have generic modules instead. YYMV and you usually get what you pay for.
It kind of annoys me when systems like that comes with a proprietary or otherwise non-standard charger instead of just a USB-C brick. Oh well. At least the shipped it with dual channel RAM this time.
Nice MiniPC! Would be nice to see how it performs with a Linux Distro of your choice, great for emulation and maybe the USB or DosBox issues are not there?
Using these for our DTF printing network. Great for our purpose. Perfect for attaching to the back of the monitors keeping them out of the way. Most likely overkill for us😂
