Great intro to the R62. It seems a really useful bit of kit with some great features; a switch from photo to video, focus breathing, a larger No. of shots per charge…. As u said it stands it’s ground as a good - poss great - camera; not just the R5’s little brother. Thks Kia & Loc.

Also makes a great camera like the R7 pointless because Canon has shown no interest in APS-C format fast primes. Either buy the way more bulky and expensive than necessary full frame lens or gtfo.
The samyang 85mm f 1.4 is an amazing lens and works fine with the RF Mount. I realize they may have stopped making it but I think if you can find one second hand. I am super picky and it’s a very sharp nice portrait lens.
Well, except for every single EF lens in existence, both by Canon and third party.

How do you compare the colors on the R6 Mark II to the R6, R5 or R3
The mark II just feels like proper progress. It's a baby R3 in terms of autofocus.

Looks like I sold my Canon R6 just in time. What canon desperately needs are high quality, affordable and light(er) weight lenses for the majority of shooters. I waited very long for canon to come up with good, semi-affordable mirrorless camera's just to end up with heavier, larger and crazy more expensive lenses. I'm fed up with 1000 shots per second which I have to wade through in LR/C1 and autofocus features which reduce me to a monkey pressing a button. Sure, if you're a pro (wedding/event) shooter I suppose it's handy but for a prosumer like me it's pretty much useless. I switched to sony because I just couldn't justify the rf 50mm f/1.2 and rf 100-500mm to my back and wallet. With the Tamron 35-150 and some cheap primes I got so much more bang for my buck and grams it's almost funny. Except for the fact I used canon for more than 25 years and I hate the sony body, cheapy buttons, weird ergonomics, menu system and the machinegun shutter sound.
I think am getting too old and weak for the current canon strategy. (End rant)
It won't get any better with how Canon locked the format down. I prefer APS-C and MFT for crop factor and size, but the R7, great as it is, isn't even an option because of Canon's complete lack of interest for APS-C specific fast primes. Instead you have a crop body and have to use MUCH bulkier and more expensive lenses than are necessary for the same results (I won't go into petty arguments, effectively the same results).
That’s why I left Canon. Felt like they are just playing games if you don’t have a massive budget. I went to Nikon, happy with it.
Come over to Nikon for a good compromise between the two
Im a wedding/event shooter and the mistake you made was thinking you needed to commit to the RF lens, Ive been adapting old EF lens' since the original R. Quality is exactly the same & i have the control ring adapter which is SUPER handy and now when i swap EF lens that control ring is in the same spot every time and not different spots for different lens.

@@kifley19 Who cares? IPB and ALL I is exactly the same visually (I and many others have done test zoomed at 500% even on water and there is 0 diff). They are both hard to edit on old computers and both are equally easy to edit on new M1/M2 macs. Keep in mind also that 99.999% of videos end up on UA-cam, in 8 bit high compression. IPB is about 10x more data than your final output for UA-cam (but again there is no difference). People really get sucked in to marketing.

Same, I have minor panic attacks just changing lenses even though on my R5 there's a curtain that comes down and protects the sensor when turned off. But these reviewers are so cavalier with demo cameras it sends shivers up my spine. Here's to clean sensors and less time in photoshop!

Thanks, Kai. Would you say the R6 mark 2 is the best upgrade for someone still shooting with a Canon 5D mark 4? I'm only interested in shooting stills and the only reason I'm looking to upgrade is for the face detection auto-focusing feature as this seems pretty flawless. Can’t justify R5 money for stills-only shooting.
I was a 5Dmk4 shooter for years - I use both the R6 and R5 ... the R6, IMO, is more bang for the buck...The R6 low-light performance is pretty amazing - I would imagine the R6 mkII to retain that since they aren't bumping the MP up that much... higher MP is NOT always a positive thing IMO... I do no video work so it's all bout stills only for me.

I shot 5D4 as my primary camera for years, got the Eos R then the R6. The autofocus is a different world on the mirrorless cameras. In low light (5d4 still slightly lower noise in low light, but color and contrast hold with the R6) the EVF makes things much easier to see (I shoot performance). The files out of the R6 almost don't need adjustment, where I find there was a lot of post processing with the 5D4.
I want to switch system when looking to Canon AF algorithms 😛 But I have a one favorite viltrox lens and one cheap tamron zoom which are not available for this system. Rest of lenses are expensive, so... awaiting for Z6 III gen or Sony A7V without R 🙂 I already have lenses for both, so I'll probably stick with one of these systems forvever...

Any word if any of the 1080p modes are oversampled? 1080p quality has been getting badly ignored by everybody lately. Storage is expensive, let's see some optimized 1080p as an option too!

i have the mk2 i got 2640 shots from 1 battery still not empty it was within 50minutes time but still a lot of shots
But what does the AF pick up when there is an aircraft which looks like a horse?

What mirrorless would you recommend a longer term eos2000d user.
I would take videos if I could, but can't really with my current 1080p30 setup. Mainly do landscapes, wildlife (zoo), and stills (motorcycles, buildings, cranes i dunno). But I'd like to dip into the telephoto world, have done moon pics on a Sigma 400mm but it wasn't that great, or wildlife (also zoo) which are further away.
Also hybrid, as in this is not a full mirrorless?

6:05 - Actually, Canons have been having False Colour since 2008 in *5D Mark II* with *Magic Lantern* 😀 Although, cameras since Digic 6 (app. 2016, and any ML updates stopped in 2018) processor and newer are no longer supported...
I have the Mark 1, so if I ever upgrade to this the power switch being on the other side is going to get me. XD

How does the the new R6 handle super low light scenarios? Will it detect the eye or even face near pitch black lighting conditions (ie: night time wedding reception/ club) without using the camera's internal assist beam? Does the Mk II pairs well with current flash units, executing proper flash unit's assist beams? I've been told current flash units generally don't sit too well with current mirrorless cameras [even when exposure simulation is turned off]. Please advise?
This is what I want to know. I have until December to exchange it. If I’m sacrificing low light for 20% more resolution, is it worth it?
@@erics3008 I think it all depends on what type of shooter you are. If you are a hybrid shooter, and you shoot at least 50% video, then I'd highly recommend the R6 Mark II because they eliminated the 30 min recording limit. In addition, they also have the photo/ video button on the left. This makes it a lot more easier for hybrid shooters to navigate between the capture of stills and moving picture on the fly.

I shoot clubs and low light stuff full time with an r6 and it goes well and I love it generally you’ll always have enough ambient light for it to catch focus I just use single point af and focus on the bright point and it nails it

can you use sigma ef lenses now? heard adapter had problems with third party AF.
You always could. The Sigma lenses, even on the R were AMAZING adapted. They work better than they did on the DSLRs natively! If you ever had issues, you needed to updated the lens firmware with a dock.
I use Sigma ART EF lenses without any problems. Don't know where you heard that but it's nonsense.
I am using the Sigma 35mm 1.4 ART flawlessly on the original R. So, it should work better on the newer cameras
The real question for us Canon video & hybrid users: Do the Custom modes finally work for video? 4k 24, 4k60 & 1080@180 at the flip of the C1, C2, C3 switch?!?!?
Yes. It has now a video and photo toggle.

This video displays how terrible focus breathing is on the 28-70. If the compensation comes to the other camera's and works on the 28-70, I'd definitely add it to my kit.

A second body is so awesome, Have one on a tripod shooting a TL or long exposure and the second with the 100-500 for birds, waves or any other subjects. Don't shoot LS? Have one in portrait on a tripod set wide enough to fit the full model in and the second handheld for face or torso from different angles. Wife an issue? teach her photography, a family that shoots together stays together. I should get a job with Canon lol.
Yeah, my only other body is my old 6D that I upgraded from. It's a little tough to really consider it as a second body instead of a backup body just because its feature set is so dated. I'll probably end up getting whatever version the R5 is up to by the time I'm in the market again for a body and my R6 will be B Cam.
If it doesn’t have shutter priority in video and also has the ibis wobble on the wide angle lenses in video then it’s useless to me.

after watching your amazing video, thanks a lot, I think the camera is quite big and heavy. And the used lenses are huge as well. As a regular family guy, I have a ton to carry for my family already, I watch out what I want to bring along. I might end up carrying it a very long time on my back. I have checked the price too, very expensive. And the fact Canon does not allow any third party to their lens mount does not make things more affordable.
R6 mark 2 announced, R6 mark 1 gets a bit of a price drop to 2100. The Canon R is $1700 and 6D2 is $1400.
lol The camera isn't big and heavy compared to other slrs, it's a full frame camera. The cameras that are smaller are cropped sensor slrs cameras or point and shoot cameras. You carry a camera like this around your neck with a strap or in a bag, they only weigh a little over a pound.

The R6II and other RF bodies are compelling but not exciting. And as someone that still has a couple toes remaining in the Canon ecosystem this means I won't buy it. Although I still use my remaining EF lenses for film and look at a couple RF lenses with wallet-breaking envy, there's nothing at this time that would make me jump back into Canon digital. Yes, the R6/R6II are compelling buys. I might even be happy with it. The capability is there. But there's no soul and connection.

removed a basic feature that existed for 15 years since in the 5D MKIII that (with MagicLantern) that seems to be still the only Canon camera that can Livestream and Record internally (as backup) a long video session like the full day conference that im streaming at the moment without stopping every 29:59.
i havnt checked the R7 R10 R50 R3 R8 yet, but i have the feeling that this is the case on most if not all new - continuously recording canon hybrid cameras.
i am completely bewildered by this move and very dissapointed to say the least. I am giving up on the hope for a proper all rounder from canon at this point. just don't trust them anymore.
im also quite surprised that nowhere is this mentioned in all the many reviews praising this camera. maybe no one streams multicam with Canon cameras, but if you are - be aware.

I would have gone for this camera but for the lack of lenses available now due to Canon’s decision. I’ll get rid of my current one and go for Sony.
Read Ken Rockwell's comparison. Canon has the best ergonomics and colour. Sony is for people who buy things because of brand names.
Canon is stopping 3rd party companies from making lenses for Canon mounts. This means people will end up switching to Sony now.
Already switched to Sony and loving all of the lens choices. A camera is a tool. If a tool is handicapped, then get a tool that isn’t.
That's been their policy from the beginning though, that isn't anything new. For people who are already heavily invested in Canon lenses, Sony isn't the way to go. You have no autofocus even with an adapter on a Sony body. Not to mention Sony's ergonomics suck, autofocus is good but not as good as Canon, LCDs aren't as good as Canon LCDs either.
@@justpray365 It's not handicapped lol. There are plenty of lens options covering all focal lengths for Canon. Whether you use the RF mount or the EF mount. Both work flawlessly with autofocus and IS on Canon bodies.
please stop it canon kamikazes. hes right. i was with canon for 10 years. they f*** us customers. they bring out cameras with a small upgrade for big price raise. now they limit us even more with no 3rd partie lens because they are greedy. they care 0 for the customers. just look at the r6 and r6mk2. they fixed overheating that shouldnt be there in first place and added an software upgrade (auto fokusdetection) same prozessor, same AF system, minimal bigger sensor. wow yeah take my 1k more for that lil upgrade. open your eyes
