Love your videos! I am starting my Masters in Childhood Education and was just accepted into an intense two year student teaching program that ends up paying for my degree. Your videos help give me ideas for my future classroom. I'm excited to be working with my students!

One of teachers I worked for gave away lots of old teaching books she wasn't going to use next year. The kids loved it and kept showing me what they got. They thought it was the coolest and some wanted to play school with them.

I'm now 16 years old and thought about my future a lot the past weeks. I know I'm still very young but I'm an anxious person in general so the future is something that really stresses me out. Anyways, I always loved the idea of being a teacher (even played 'school' with my sister on the weekends and made her worksheets), and your channel really makes me look forward to pursue a career in teaching:) I love how you show your live as a teacher and it makes me excited for my future!(Me, one of the most anxious persons you'll ever find concerning their future...). Long story short: I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me:) (Also sorry for any mistakes. I'm from Germany and always try to improve my English.)

Thank you for these ideas! I especially love how you have little one-on-one chats with your students during the movie time! I never thought about doing that and I think it's something very special that the students will think about all summer. ❤️
Also, my boyfriend (who isn't a teacher) always watches your videos with me because I put them on the TV while he's playing computer games. I told him today that we were the same age, and he said, "She is?? I always thought she was a really seasoned teacher! She seems so put together!" I thought you'd like that!

I read the book My Teacher's Secret Life with them and then they write stories about what they think my secret life would be. I print them out every year and put them in a binder and add them to my class library. The next class loves reading them!

Great ideas! I can't wait to try some of them! Each year I do a "Game Day" with my students and they absolutely love it! I put together a Jeopardy game with trivia questions from all our favorite read alouds from the year, and my students bring board games and card games from home to teach to their classmates.

My senior year of high school my teacher counted down the end of the year by having balloons then in each balloon had a paper which was a book (it was children Greek books) and each day we either read it together or alone then did a little summary on it or a discussion on what happened it was so cool

Hearing all of these great and fun ideas makes me a little depressed - the schools i've worked at would never allow most of these things. I don't know if maybe it is an Australian Curriculum thing, but we wouldn't be able to to use anything as a game unless we showed how it directly ties in with learning. We also wouldn't be able to use any food as a prop unless they were approved - students or teachers aren't even allowed to bring things such as cookies or m&ms in most schools. No shaving cream, no fun topics unless they are directly related to the curriculum in an integrated way. These are all great ideas - I wish I could use them! I might try and adapt some of the minute to win it concepts into literacy or integrated ICT to get them approved.

My first graders can only handle one round of shaving cream so I use 2 cans max. I agree that it is an engaging activity and a memorable one, too. I do this every year and they are always shocked that they get to have fun with shaving cream. :)

I know what you mean! Last year my kiddos each got like 5-6 rounds of shaving cream because they got along so well and were very respectful. My group this year... not so much! 😂 It is so worth it though and I know they always enjoy it!

Love you, Michele! Keep up the PHENOMENAL work, be it as a super-duper teacher, UA-cam extraordinaire, or Teacher's Pay Teacher's graphic design and original content creator! You are seriously making me want to switch my Major and go into Kindergarten and Elementary Education instead! :-D
P.S. I am an older student of 37-years old, married (19.5 years) w/ two thriving kids (son-18 yrs. old & daughter-12 yrs. old). Do you think the workload for Kindergarten and Elementary Education is "doable" at Uni as a degree choice (they ONLY offer Kindergarten and Elementary Education FULL-TIME at my local Uni)? Currently, I am a 2nd year (part-time) History Major. Also, I work part-time for exactly 20 hours per week. Thanks for your advice, Michele, or to anyone who wishes to respond back! :-D

Bookish Rainbow Hi there! I would speak with someone at your University about the major you are inquiring about switching to as far as coursework and the work load for that major! 😀 You are going to be an amazing teacher someday and you've got this! 😀 Any passion you have won't come easy, but it is worth it at the end! I will finish my Master's degree in Elementary Education in October and I have been greatly blessed throughout the experience! It wasn't easy, but it is well worth it! 😀
