How did you go with it?
vw has a real fetish for tough plastic clips. Back when i wanted to install a black logo on my golf 6 i had to undo literally like 40 clips to separate two grill pieces (the grill is like 1/3rd that a3). I ended up grinding off most of them and it still clipped back in rock solid.
Thank you for posting this. The vertical screws and the two that are deep inside are seriously hard to find and the video really helped. On a 2018, I can't believe that the wheel well needs so much disassembly. Such a pain compared to other cars I've worked on.

4 hours, a couple of bleeding knuckles, and a ton of frustration from the absolute over complication in engineering… it’s finally installed…

I noticed your front bumper has those side vents on each side which most S3’s don’t have. Where’d you get those!
I’m not sure what you mean sorry. Is it something that is on the hatch or euro spec cars that we get in Australia?

Paul Sagan cheers mate. It is a Flow design lip. An Australian company and is super tough.

Great instructions. I would suggest de-chroming the rings because they stick out like a sore thumb. I plasti dipped mine black, then used graphite metalizer. It looks sick. You can also do just black, but then the rings are not very visible from a distance.
Great Video, Are you able to separate the chrome outline of the stock Grill and put it onto the rs3 grill?

About 3 hours by myself. With 2 people and 2 sets of tools you can get the bumper off much faster

i just had a few questions would this fit the 2017 model and do the parking sensors still work? does the acc sensor work? and does the new grill come with parking sensors to do i have to swap mine from the old one?
The 2017 is the facelift and is a different shape to this car but fitment is similar. Yes all the parking sensors work, my car didn’t have ACC but it is just a hole in the grill so will work fine. You will have to swap the sensors over to the new grill like I did. Hope this helps

They still have them in their shop. Just put RS3 in the search bar. I don’t think there would be much difference between the eBay grills. I just bought the cheapest one on eBay

Hey man one of lower grills on the passenger side broke off, do i need to take the grill off to install it or can i just click it back on ? Dont want to risk braking or cracking it.
should be ok to carefully push it back on. I suggest you warm up the plastic so it isn't too brittle. and a bit of lube or something thin to guide it in might help. I was told a feeler gauge would help release the tabs.
Does the lip come with pre-drilled holes that line up with the holes underneath the car or do u use tape? Just looking for info...thanks👍🏻

How did you undo the clips on the original grill? Please let me know if you have any technique or us special tools.
xxjay12xx I used screwdrivers but broke a few tabs. I was later told to use feeler gauges to help slip out the tabs.

i just installed a new grill on my audi a3 8v facelift. Now my airbag light is on. I had to park the car in between and guess it's because of it. Do I have to worry now or can I simply read the error out of the system?
Sa scha try clearing the code and see if it comes back. You can do it with an OBDeleven

How long did it take to install? I'm having a shop install mine and I want to be able to negotiate time/price
hvysouldg I did it with the front lip but a normal autobody shop should be able to do it in 2 hours.

Dax Escoto it’s not listed anymore but search the cheapest RS3 grill and they all look to be the same
How long did the whole process take?
Took me about 3 hours but I had to figure out how to do it. If I did it again I could probably do it in 1.5-2 hours. The video will help a lot. A tip for the grill clips is to slide feeler gauges on either side so they come out easily and just work your way around.

What about the distronic , I have an Audi A3 8V with distronic ? Does that work ?

How long did it took you to install the whole thing?
Guillermo Pianetta I did the front lip as well so probably 2.5 hours in total
What about your parking sensors ?
Major they clip into the holes on the new grill and work fine
Would have been nice if you pointed out how exactly the grill comes apart
Release all the tabs and it comes apart
Literally just finished doing my grill. Was an absolute bastard! I wont be in a rush to do that again!

Check with the guys selling the grill. You will need one for a facelift model

Did you have any issues with your parking sensors after unplugging and plugging back in? I’ve heard Audi has to recalibrate the parking sensors if they are unplugged… stupid if you asked me. Makes no sense.

Does the license plate fit on it well?
It comes with a euro plate holder but is way too big for my standard Aussie plate so I used black cable ties to hold it on.
What bumper are you using?
That is the stock S3 bumper with a Flow designs lip.
You have like a air duct on the side of your bumper that mine doesn’t have, I have a 2016 s3

craigmcq yes it’ll fit on the A3 , the A3/S3 have the exact same grill sizes so if it fits the S3 it’ll fit your A3 as well 👍🏻

rick depends on the headlights. Our style is considered Pre facelift.
