Gilmour is the greatest
lmao, Roger is a mediocre musician
Fact:
David Gilmour walks by a music store, guitars bow in respect.
Gilmour an amazing guitarist.
David & the other singer look like the blues brothers lol
Correct. Alex Lifeson. Geddy Lee well. ..
I could offer David. Not many icons show up in our lives. Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, Eddie Van Halen. Just speaking of my beloved music.
Well Geddy Lee walks by.
Nobody talking about how Guy Pratt absolutely championed those vocals?
maybe because he is a pratt.
I do. Another awesome bassist who nails vocals like a boss like Geddy.
Love his vocals and bass playing
He's a monster. Even Roger can't scream like him. Listen to the version live in Turin 1994 ( pulse tour). Pure goosebumps.
Not to mention that delicious bass groove !!!
I was going through major depression and went to Pompeii alone to attend this concert. Almost missed my flight , cab driver couldn't find the hotel ( in a nearby town) and had like 30 minutes to pick up my ticket from the office. I had to push through the crowd gathering outside waiting to attend the concert to get to the office. I'm sorry, people. That year we learned my grandma had cancer. Hearing Wish you were here hit on whole other level.
This was the song they played to close the gig. When I heard that intro I looked at David jamming on stage with his glasses on. Man, he looked so badass. And then it hit me. Life can be so damn good. I am not giving up without a fight, not until I've exhausted myself fighting for what I want. Giving up is not an option. Shine on!
Oh, and thank you to the nice Italian couple who felt sorry for me and took me back to the hotel because there are literally two taxis in Pompeii. I'll always remember you guys!!
Wonderful
Oh my Dear... nice to hear your story, your experience, thanks to share with us, i can see, you're a wonderful person.
Take care ;💕😘
Wish You Were Here got me through last year when both my parents suffered and died and is my go to song. Kept me sane. Was at Pompeii in ‘74, what a place to see Pink Floyd.
Well done you, stay strong !!!
Love David Gilmore !!!!!
four grandpas teach you how to play Rock. My respects.
yea ,grow up and rock forever

Thank you God!

DAMN RIGHT!!
I came from the future to tell you the following:
1 - Pompeii is on fire again;
2 - Guy Pratt is running like Hell;
3 - David Gilmour still rocks;
4 - Pink Floyd is forever!
👍🏻😎🤘🏻
Who's Guy Pratt??
@@kaizuber9780 The guy with the bass. He's the second voice in "Run Like Hell".
@@AdrianoBattista ah I see ... a member of the surrogate band ;-)
and he married Rick's daughter so he's family.
You are Right
Everybody gangsta until David walks on stage with shades at night
He has to wear them b/c the lasers mess w your head. He talked about that in an interview.

Guy Pratt is an incredibly impressive musician.
He steels the show with Nick's show. Seeing him get so excited to sing Nile Song is worth the price of admission :)
Is that the same bass player form the Pulse concert in the 90's? Cuz he's killing it even more now.
Yeah he is powerful voice had no idea who he was thanks now I will look into him 👍🔥
@@satevo462 Yes it is him.
He played bass on quite a few big hits too - "Earth Song", "Like a Prayer", "The Best". And he's a stand-up comedian.
It's 2019 and pink Floyd is still ahead of the time in my opinion
koteks tha butcher Best rock band ever. Lots of great rock bands, but Pink Floyd is in a class of its own. And in my opinion, Pink Floyd would never have achieved its greatness without the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour.
2043?????? What about Mozart? So long! 🤗🙆

I bet the guys that built that amphitheatre never pictured this happening in it

I wonder how would they feel..... this is heaven or this es hell!

They would have loved it!
As you can see Dave is wearing sunglasses ..lol.
I love how the drummer is always Smiling! He scored the greatest gig ever!
...aj mne imponuje....
Steve DiStanislao has been with DG for years. Great drummer.
And he knows it! 😊
The great gig in the sky!
He enjoys every moment of this concert. He enjoys the cooperation with the legend of rock. So he is smiling, I think
Gilmour’s voice is something else. Most singers aren’t able to do their old songs justice as they age but David still has the physical and emotional ability to to tap into that “thing” which makes the song what it is.
It's also impressive because it was Roger Waters that sang this song originally, and Roger was more of a screamer than a singer nearing the end of his classic run with Pink Floyd (I consider their classic run from "Dark Side" to "The Final Cut".). It's difficult to do that.
@@gabriels.carvalho4852David and Roger shared lead vocals on run like hell.
This is the coolest old man on earth😎
That he is , that he is
Old is a state of mind
@@angiebranstetter6017 well yeah, esp, true when you can play a fender stratocaster.

You might be cool but you'll never be beared David Gilmour wearing sunglasses and playing Run like hell on a beat up Tele to 50k people cool.

Pretty cool fer sher!
I agree with the sentiment, but everyone on stage was wearing sunglasses. I think it wasn't so much being cool as eye protection from some of the lighting effects.

David please do one more tour. I am 66 years old and I live in Utah, USA. I have been working on my job for 43 years. I would love to see you play, as when I was younger I didn't get to see you and Pink Floyd. You have such a beautiful gift. It's funny that I don't feel my age at all, but with my wife and our lives together it's totally amazing how love keeps you young in heart! Mr. Gilmour please do one more tour with Pink Floyd! I can see that you and your wife, and your family love you so very much. You are one of the most amazing guitar players I've ever seen! Your music and guitar speak to generations. Please play one more time around the world!
@doublewhopper67 yeah I know he's retired
Go see a cover band called Brit Floyd.
I believe Dave Gilmour is 77. and still commanding his Stratocaster just like he was when he was 19. Actually I think he plays better now
Just like a fine wine.
In all my years of judging I have never seen before, David Gilmour in sunglasses, thug life, that’s for sure
devinjiggablah77 -Do you see tat lightshow? He needs them.
devinjiggablah77 I hope you don’t want to defecate !
@@TheChadsnyder40Yeah, that's what I was thinking. "Those aren't to look cool. They are required."
If you notice every band member are wearing them, to keep from having adverse reactions to the light show, so you might as well look cool while doing it
I like what you did there xD
TEAR DOWN THE WALL!
I am thankful to God that I am born in an era of David Gilmour!
i just cried - I am 54 years old - I can't explain how I feel...
No words needed, beyond words, just listen !
You can totally tell the glasses he's wearing are the first pair of glass he find around in his house before getting to the concert. Totally random glasses just to protect his eyes from the psychedelic bombing. I mean, this living legend did the entire PULSE tour with a pair of gas station blu jeans. Every other rock star would have prepared his clothing with great care, you know, to have a "style". Gilmour just doesn't give a fuck, his style is his guitar, as for the rest no fucks given. Totally, totally, totally love the man and the artist.
Yes, it's just coincidence that they're all wearing the same glasses.
he does stay relaxed and plays better
They're Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Not "any old shades", and if you notice, the whole band is wearing them for the look, not "totally random".
David Gilmour paid for Kate Bushs initial studio demo that got her started. For that alone he deserves a knighthood. Top man
Peter Green Wow really?
David looks like he's just popped down the pub for a pint and some scampi and chips.
Jeans, t shirt, some shades. Then whacks some shiitty looking Stratocaster and blows everyone's minds.
David Gilmour: Humble, unpretentious and an absolute genius.👌👌👌
Hate to be that guy...but *telecaster
Hate to be that guy, but *esquire. They’ve already been over this in another comment thread😂
Lee Saunders he’s never owned a shitty looking guitar
Jason Corea Esquires have a single bridge pickup. Telecasters have 2, a bridge and neck pickup
70mjc His has been modified. It’s quite a famous guitar known as the ‘Workmate’ I believe. In fact, it’s one of the only guitars he didn’t auction off recently. You know it’s a killer instrument when it takes priority over the black strat!
The lighting effect, and this riff, are incredible. Thank you David.
Guy looks like a sort of a person you really want to be friends with, such an underrated artist.
His voice, 70 years old, im speecheless ❤️
Listen to Robert Halford of Judas Priest, that voice can crush windows and mirrors still and he's 72.
This music will never die. The best
70 years old (Gavid Gilmour at the time) and still rocking! Great piece!
Unforgettable! Thank you sir David!
This is my 874th time watching this video, and the other Gilmour/Floyd videos from this concert, during this quarantine lockdown. This is the BEST concert I’ve ever seen. Gilmour is THE BEST guitar player of all time. Hands down, nobody else comes close to Gilmour’s talent
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
His arrangements are unparalleled, then sprinkle in his solos. It's not even close.....guy's a living Legend.
was this written by david? the only songwriting contribution i know he has on the wall was on comfortably numb. by songwriting i dont mean just the guitar solo btw
@@chadmarx7718 If you listen to the demo of this from Roger on The Wall Immersion set, it’s a completely different song. I’m sure David wrote this song and Roger wrote the concept and lyrics.
@@chadmarx7718 David wrote both this and Comfortably Numb.

The music gods are pleased. These backup singers have one of the best gigs in the world.
One of the best live performances of any song in my book.
Mean MrMusician listening to this in my car with high powered aftermarket stereo system. Truly awesome.
Outstanding!
It is the best all time hands down
Fancy those Romans building that amphitheatre just for that concert - smart guys!!!
Please God I hope I get the chance to see him again. Saw him in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl in 2016 and it was a night I'll never forget. This song in particular blew my socks off.
He is playing the Hollywood Bowl October 2024. Good luck getting tickets.
God, weren’t we all so smug and confident in ourselves before the pandemic! Imagine! Let’s go see David at Pompeii! Hope that world comes back.
Regardless of his age, David's playing and the sunglasses bring a whole new meaning to the word 'cool'! A true legend.
The reason that they all wore sunglasses was so as not to be blinded by the special effects lasers...
Whoever choreo'd the lighting is a genius. And the pyro.
I saw Pink Floyd at the Rose Bowl in the 90s and my buddy and I were late parking our car on the golf course adjacent and were running to the concert as the song "Run Like Hell" is playing and we start singing "Run Run Run Run..." and my friend almost collapses from laughing himself out of breath.
We should all be thankful that we were lucky enough to be blessed by this band while in our youth,(and to this day), I'm 55 and it is still on all my Playlists. Poor kids these days, how will they look back on the talent- less garbage of so called music that is pumped out today? Sad. No bands will ever be able to touch floyd and the handful of other bands from our generation. Noone has even gotten close. Technology increase,s musical talents decrease.
No Roger, No Nick, No Rick ((( Very-Very Thank You, David ! - for this Music !
Takes me back to the Division Bell tour....a night I will never forget. Best rock band of all time!!!
Gail Houston wish I could have seen the trio of nick mason Richard Wright and of course the greatest rock star that ever lived Mr David Gilmore
It was the best concert of my entire life and always will be. Those three were incredible together. I agree with you about David!!!!!!! :)
Gail Houston yeah I guess it was the era of when I started really loving Pink Floyd came after pulse which was all David cause I was born in 94 the same year pulse was so all I see is him and how great he is..he is rock and roll
I'm not quite as old as David is but I'm close to his age so I've loved them for decades. It's so cool at a Floyd concert because there are people of all ages. People in their 70's down to young teens all rocking out with love for such an amazing band. It gives you a natural high that lasts forever really. Rock on! :)
Gail - Did you see Roger Waters' current tour? That was excellent as well. Closest I ever came to a Floyd show. Saw both Gilmour & Waters on solo tours in the 80s, but Floyd was not the central part of either show if I recall. They had solo albums and we're probably trying to distance themselves a little, but Rogers current show is almost all Floyd. Excellent, very visual & very political.
45 years of going to concerts, lucky to have seen countless amazing shows and had many unforgettable musical memories, but nothing - NOTHING! - comes close to seeing Gilmour. Its a silly argument to say this artist is better than that one, as it all in the ears and eyes of the beholder. But in terms of shear epic-ness, the ability to leave a crowd awe-struck by the scale, quality, and power of the performance, Gilmour stands without peer. Thank you David for the amazing memories!
Agreed
absolutely. I saw them six times first time 1972 when I was 14. The best concerts ever. Saw ACDC, Van Halen, Queen, Led Zeppelin.. nowhere close to Pink Floyd concert. They were EXPERIENCES. You relived it in your head for days. The light shows, the huge videos behind the band, the gigantic pig floating in, the huge flower in the middle of the stadium spinning and opening and blasting light while the band blew your mental circuits with One of These Days. our minds were never designed to handle that much rock and roll.
@@RichardGlatfelter even 30 years later....you still think of those concerts and smile. Pulse tour was by far the most unforgettable concert I have ever witnessed
Totally agree, I saw him in NYC at the radio city music hall. Absolutely amazing
I've never seen just DG but saw both the original Wall gig and in later years RW - you come away feeling like it's been a semi-religous experience rather than just seeing a band. No other band is like this only the Floyd.
I I am one of the lucky ones who saw the PF concert in Venice in 1989 and this song was the last of that unforgettable show. soon after the fireworks set off, much more then like in this concert even today I have the chills to listen this music
This song makes me stomp my feet and shake my head vigorously, even during the coronavirus, its what everyone needs right now. Thanks for the outstanding song,I needed that.
The power this song still infuses in me, after almost 30 years, is beyond anything else.
40 year next year
Chills goosebumps
Pink Floyd = More power onstage than a nuclear explosion. The songs just take you to another dimension! No wonder DG is still performing...
100% agree!!
David Gilmore and pink Floyd best band ever nobody will ever surpass them
I love watching Dave and that Guy on Bass performing Run Like Hell live! Never gets old.
David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist. This show looked to be phenomenal !
You have to understand the feeling of the guy at 6:48 holding up his arms and then holding his head as he just cant believe the amazing experience he has just witnessed topped off with fireworks, Bravo!
Absolutely. I just noticed. It's crazy and so powerful.
I experienced something similar when he visited my city with his wife Polly and was lucky enough to get my photo taken with him
I was lucky to see him in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl this same tour. Im not old enough to have seen Pink Floyd live, but this very moment you described after Run Like Hell when the fireworks hit... I’m gonna carry that memory with me for the rest of my life.
David's voice is better than ever

Man... If I had been at that show, no way I would mess with a cell phone or recorder. Concerts like that need to be fully experienced, and tech gadgets lessen the experience. Our brains and memories are all that are needed!

Been listening to Pink Floyd since the ummagumma days. First time I did micro dot. Wow.
This is one of those songs where I'm actually amazed someone came up with it
I love that the lighting design is so intense the band and crew are all wearing sunglasses.
Everything here is the absolute best. The music , the musicianship, the lighting, the atmosphere. 40 odd years of FLOYD and they keep raising the bar! Not bad for an OAP!

David Gilmour, he makes absolutely sense of every world he speaks and sings. He plays every note in a thought out fashion and will make a song with 5 notes, he’ll turn them into 25 notes.
David Gilmour, "THE GUITARIST". Enough said!
watch Live at Pompeii(director's cut), and you'll see why this is beyond the obvious amount of epicness.
How do you get a sound like that? I mean, HOW??? How do you get a sound that literally fills an entire stadium like that?? It's not just the speakers. It's a vision. Wow.
How do you get a sound like that........easy.....
You just have to be David Gilmour.
