You all did it again! A great how to video! You all have away of putting it into a easy to follow format. Here is wishing you all the very best in all that you do.
We haven’t made the mistakes, but our Son did, he got busy & forgot to winterize last year, we’re in Texas, you know what we got. Fortunately he knows how to fix things & he was only out price for parts on his fifth wheel. 👍👍👍👍keep’m coming
Good video. I do the same thing, blow out with air first and then put in the antifreeze. One thing you should mention, make sure your compressor is an oil-less compressor. You don't want to coat your lines with oil residue.
Yes, first time to ❄️ winterize here and I've been hitting YT hard for info 🤓. Your presentation was clear and concise. Also, your comment on keeping things pliable (toilet gasket for instance) was a helpful insight👏
Thank you for showing how it is done to winterize your Rv this so good to know because you wouldn’t want to your Rv to smell or have a bad odor. It looks easy to do. This video helps to know how to do and do it right. Thank you so much Izzy and MJ. Have a great evening and see you and see you soon!
Thanks for watching Sherri
I do the same as Geof. Run air through every water outlet, RV antifreeze in P traps and some in black and gray tank so the dump valves do not freeze. Also pull the anode rod to drain hot water heater and inspect the rod. I have never felt comfortable putting anything in the water that we drink or cook with. I do my 40’ coach using less than a gallon. Next season fill with water and go have fun. Thanks for the tip on black tank enzyme.
I keep watching your video every time I winterize I basically blow up my lines and use the RV antifreeze and all the P traps and toilet thank you again for all your useful DYII videos for RV s
Good video.
I have to winterize without blowing out because if a unit has a Aquahot you can NOT blow out the lines. It will damage the Aquahot.
Also, I use a 5 gallon portable water container and fill it with RV antifreeze so I can winterize without running out to replace the one gallon jugs.
Also, if the fridge has a ice maker you need to drain it as the manual explains.
Great how to do video! Easy way. I do winterize our Rv. Love watching your videos!
We were just planning on doing this so it was great timing for us.
Very helpful video! Ya’ll have a great show as always. Ya’ll need to move south where winterizing is not a big deal! Take care guys
Thank you for the video. I have our first RV and will be my first winterization. I am learning.
Great information thank you for sharing this be safe happy healthy in all you do and want take care of yourself
Refrigerator (ice maker, filter, drinking water port)and washing machine?
We're so glad you love our products! Happy Camping!
Great products!
Regarding the seal in the toilet. I’ve always used Vaseline on the end of my finger and lubricate that rubber seal and it seems to have worked very well for me and my Monaco. Then I always make sure that there is a water barrier floating above that seal during the time to coach is down for the winter. Thomyt
This will be the first time I winterize my Thor 22HE but once I get my newmar 2702 Baystar sport I’ll be most definitely doing all your tips thank you very much and thank you for the heads up that this video is coming out today
Excellent video! Thank you!
Well Izzy I did exactly what you said and I winterize my Newmar 2022 3124 we took her home couple days ago and we have it out cleaning everything and examining everything and then I did your winterizing thank you
Awesome video, I just did mine last week as well.
Thanks for a very informative vid! While I have winterized my older truck camper for years, my new motorhome has newer features, like the tank flush, that escaped my notice!! The RV manual is a joke - so I rely on you and other informed educated UA-camRS to bring the rest of us up to speed. Be well.
I use air only. This year I’m going to the Lippert floe, I’ll have to test it before I can see how it’s working though. The main plus is that you are putting air in before the pump, because that’s the weak point and I did have some micro cracks in my pre filter after 2 years. I also un-winterize every other weekend though.
Great info. Wouldn’t have thought of hooking up the compressor to pressurize the system.
First time winterizing. These videos are like University courses for RV owners. Thank you for making these videos!
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I will be winterizing myself! I’ve never done it before. I will probably watch your video five more times before I attempt to winterize! Wish me luck!
Same boat!🙃
Good luck. You can do it!
🙌
Thank you both for sharing, what is a very common RV related chore. I think that you covered everything well, with the exception of winterizing the toilet. You skimmed over the use if the 303 protectant, which I, and probably many others, am unfamiliar with. It would have been helpful to have you show us how you do that task.
Thanks again MJ & Izzy
Just spray and wipe the toilet seal with 303
Good video. We had a fifth wheel and bought an all-electric motorhome so we just keep it plugged in and the heat on. It is a little expensive, but we camp in the wintertime and it is a lot of trouble to winterize and then wash it out, all to do it again in a month.
Great info. We have to do ours this weekend. Thanks !!
It’s a snap.
The Unique family of products is AMAZING. I have never seen solid debris come from either the grey or black tanks since starting to use the stuff since watching the demonstration video in a Todd's Tech Tip Tuesday.
Yes it’s great stuff!
I live the crocs Izzy.
Thank you for reminding people to use the correct RV Antifreeze.
This video is a keeper, Izzy and MJ, great advice, you could both teach courses is operating and maintaining RV's, I've learned a lot watching your videos! Living full time in Florida it's not an issue, but still good to know the process.
Thanks Wes
You guys are the best thanks
It's $11 and change in my area. Twin Falls Idaho
I just take mine to Tucson.
We have used Unique in our black tank for years and love it. Never any smells
It’s great stuff
Great video guys, I guess I am lazy I take mine to my dealership and let them do it. If something breaks it’s on them. I will be getting some of the black tank pods. Thanks for the information !
For us we live in SE Michigan, it's gets really cold here, we know cold weather :). The only area I will use air on is the black tank flush, the rest of the system I will pump RV antifreeze throughout the system, excluding the water heater and freshwater tank of course. I will also us a container to catch as much freshwater from each faucet as possible from going down to the gray tank. We have 2 macerator toilets I will pore RV antifreeze into them then do 3 dry flushes, no need to have any liquid/antifreeze in the macerator toilets. Also I will put at least 1.5 gallons of RV antifreeze, into the black and gray holding tanks, just to make sure the long run to the dump valves are protected.
Thanks for your tips John
Just moved to Colorado from Texas. Yes my first time.😮
haha....just rewatching this (watched last year)...you nailed it....almost $8.00 a gallon now....not sure how many gallons my system will require but I will start with 2.
i do all you said but after winterizing ….I shut off pump and open valves to prevent any moisture from freezing over winter…..
I think this is a great video. One must be careful though to ensure that all of the procedures for your RV - and I mean ALL - have been completed.
That is why, for your $400,000 Boondocking Beauty, you might consider an appointment with your RV service place and shift the liability for a mistake (read very $costly) to them.
Hi Izzy and MJ. Great video. I know that the Max water pressure is 60 PSI. And you set your compressor to 48PSI. My owners manual stated not to use more than 30 PSI. I am now wondering why the difference.
The only thing if I may suggest is when you winterize the outside shower and low point drains, is to capture it in a bucket and dump it in the toilet. Just a thought.
Because 40psi of air is not the same as 40psi is water.
Excellent. :-)))). :-)))))
Typical common mistake is not pressing the foot pedal on the toilet till it runs pink. Small diameter hose freezes quick, and the valve needs replacing. We winterize ourselves, and were provided a cost breakdown of the most common items that freeze and are replaced often by our dealer.
👍👍 Thanks
Good instructional vlog. I would have liked to see you spray the seal in the commode.
Spray and wipe.
I run a little heat in the cabin and in the wet bay. I like to be ready to go. We always have some nice days in Virginia during winter. Costs a little bit for the electricity but it works. You don't have to keep it at 65 degrees. 45 is good. I've done this since we bought this "coach" and it has worked well. I do shut off the feed to the water heater and drain it. Have a great fall/winter y'all.
So you don’t winterize? I was wondering if I could keep my RV open during the winter so I have a little place to go and escape. I am keeping my C class on my driveway in Maryland.
@@Somatic_Theraphy Go out and start your rig and let it run. Same if you have a generator. Put it under some load and exercise it. Did you get my reply about not winterizing? We've used our RV for a living space when we have hurricane/no power situations. Always be ready to go.
@@keithsaunders1046 so you keep the heat on? What about the water lines when it gets below freezing? I’m not hooked up to water so I just use what’s in my fresh water tank.
You threw me for a loop when you said “sponsored by…” and it wasn’t followed by Liquid Spring. Lmao!
I live in south Florida so I don’t have to winterize but it’s nice to know. 😉
Big kisses and lots of pets to the dogs🐾🐾❤️😘
We will be there in the winter very soon!
@@EndlessRVing Great! I’d love to meet you both (and the dogs too, of course).
I am interested in how you keep bacteria out of the lines using an air compressor with no filters.
Sanitize your water lines a few times a year.
Like the dual process of air and antifreeze.
Would be curious how to specically do the washer machine. I’d rather watch a video than break out the owners manual!
Great video and timely. It was 36° this AM in Northern Indiana.
I waa wondering the same thing as well as the ice maker
I found your video thanks for informing I was curious how it would work not sure if I’d have to do that or not living in the valley of California but possibly because it can get pretty cold
If it gets below freezing winterize
When your winterizing, what about the gray tank? Do you just drain it. Add any enzyme treatment or extra antifreeze? Thanks, great video
Drain and add antifreeze
How do you winterize your sanivite kitchen transfer pump?
Put antifreeze down the drain and into the pump
No reason to use the air pressure method. The pump will push out the water with the pink stuff.
You need to use air to get fluid out of black tank flush line. You will also use less pink fluid by pushing out the water prior to pumping the Antifreeze.
Thanks Izzy, looks pretty straight forward. Hopefully won't have to do that down here in Houston. Great info nonetheless. Will check out the Unique products. Keep up the good work. How do I add my wife Kelli to the Insider group with me? Thanks
Pretty easy job. Takes about 20 min. Stay warm!
Thank you Izzy and MJ we're picking up our first travel trailer tomorrow and you mentioned the product called 303 can you tell me a little more about that and can I find it at a camp store or RV store??
amzn.to/3EQtfiV
Wow, you do realize that by connecting your air line to your black water tank and then moving to fresh water, you have crossed contaminated your fresh water. Something you never want to do. If you want to put air pressure into the black tank, you should have a separate adapter and hose for the freshwater system (just like you hopefully do with the water hoses). Personally, I wouldn’t pressurize the black water tank, just not that much benefit (if any benefit).
You do realize the connection for the black tank flush is not in the black tank. There is plumbing that goes to the black tank with one way check valve. Using your assessment there would be black tank contents poring out of the black tank flush. The reason for running air through the black tank flush is to clear out any fresh water that may be in the lines and push it into the black tank.
Please do some research before leaving these comments and safe travels
What would you suggest for someone that loves RV'ing in Winter Snows other than heavy Insulation??
Lots of propane, and skirting
What are your thoughts on using vasoline on the toilet gasket
That works fine.
Its Ethanol don't use the Walmart brand that is shown here in your water lines - buy ethanol free antifreeze Starbrite brand ect.
They both work do the same job
Ehhh kinda do some research Propylene glycol only for RVs
Yours is the first RV video to suggest nothing in the toilet bowl. I do use plumbers grease to protect the seal but most videos say to leave fluid in the bowl…was this your idea or was it suggested by your manufacturer? Just curios I had not heard about leaving the bowl dry.
It’s to protect the seal but the RV antifreeze will dry out the seal. That is why you want to keep that seal lubed with something such as 303
What kind of 303 spray do you use? Thanks
This one
amzn.to/2XVKKMA
Izzy i have ?, your hose you use for the air compressor,i got the-part for the motorhome but what do you use for the compressor to the Rv ( what came with the Husky small diameter red hose) or something else ? thx
Standard air compressor hose
@@EndlessRVing ok thx
Using air pressure and anti-freeze is redundant, so too bad they didn't give an explanation as to why they use both methods when either method will do the job.
We run the air to get to places the antifreeze cannot (black tank flush) The antifreeze gives us visual confirmation the lines are protected. $35 in antifreeze is not worth risking thousands in potential damage.
Do you have an “unwinterise” video ? Last year it took a lot to wash out the antifreeze smell. I bet I left some in the low points and such. Thanks.
Run water through the system until it’s clear. Then sanitize the system and you are good.
@@EndlessRVing thanks, “run water through” includes the low point drains (likely my problem), outside shower, and hot water heater (my water heater only has one bypass valve, so some antifreeze may leach in). It took me way longer than expected to clear it out. I still don’t have the recipe right. Next spring I’ll do better. Thanks for the enjoyment of your videos!
If I storage the rv in heated building do l still need to winterize?
No
I have always blown out my rv systems, I have never used anti-freeze on top ot the air. May I as why use anti-freeze on top of blowing out the rv? Double protection? What about the taste next year? Anyway nice video.
Anti freeze should always go down the traps. Also we sanitize and flush the system for the new year.
Agree on the traps, we get sub zero temps here in eastern Oregon.
I'm on the fence of which treatment to get should I get the plain or the tangerine ones? Thanks
We have the white unique tabs.
@@EndlessRVing just bought it thanks for the 15% off
No self-respecting Tiffin owner would EVER wear fur-lined Crocs! Hahaha!!!
🤣
Shouldn’t you have the valves open when blowing tank rinse?
Not sure what you mean Roy
Roof vent should take care of equalizing pressure
What about batteries????
We talk about that in an upcoming video
blowing out the lines is a huge risk , companys letting go quality recently i would not trust thost lines
what were the mistakes? I thought this would focus on mistakes and not how to winterize.
We should in the video what to do and what not to do
I miss your sunglasses….ok, back to the video…
😂 They’ll make an appearance soon I’m sure. 🙌
Watch you don't over pressure your pipes!
That’s is why we set to 48 lbs
@@EndlessRVing Love your videos! Learning new things every day.
